My friend and I got a flat tire on the way to the Clear Creek trailhead at Mt. Shasta after Google…read moreMaps directed us to go up a detour route (Esperanza Road) with rough chip seal gravel. :( We called Black Butte Towing, and our driver, Dave, went above and beyond to help us fix the tire and salvage our backpacking plans. First, after we explained that we had gotten a ride to the McCloud Ranger station, Dave picked us up there without question. On the long and tedious journey back up to our car, his conversation and friendly demeanor helped put us at ease. A true professional, he was attentive and efficient with the tow itself. On the drive back, he made sure our car and our stomachs were looked after; he pulled into the parking lot of his favorite milkshake place to confirm that the vehicle hadn't slid sideways on the journey AND he bought us a sweet treat there, knowing the stressful day we had had. He insisted on paying. What a guy! As it had gotten late in the day, the tire shop to which we wanted to take the car wouldn't admit us (and didn't have a spare in a compatible tire anyways). Dave offered to drop us off at a hotel and remained flexible as we continued to explore our options. The grand finale? Just as our hopes were dimming to get the tire fixed that same day in order to attempt our summit, Dave offered to tow us to the nearest AutoZone, where we could pick up a cheap tire plug kit and try to plug the tire ourselves. That worked!! He patiently taught us how to install a tire plug, spending at least two extra hours after the original tow, all with a cheerful and positive attitude. Because of Dave, we were able to make it back to the Clear Creek trailhead late that same night, car camp, and attempt our summit early the next morning as planned. All in all, we were blown away by the customer service at Black Butte towing, and we could not thank Dave enough for the expert help and human kindness he showed us. 6 star review (if it were possible).

Most recent experience with them: Requesting Energy assistance (fuel oil for my Blind elderly dad). 1) Mid Sept. I handed in forms for energy assistance.they reviewed and said they had all they needed. (including statement from vendor to supply fuel). to process the application 2) Called back mid October to see how the process was going. They took my information and said they would get back with me. A week later I called them and they said the paperwork from me was incomplete but they would fix and submit the application. The process should take a week or so. 3) I called vendor (to supply fuel) Nov. 1st. they said they had not heard from G Northern regarding the account. 4) I called G Northern They said it was still being processed. 5) Nov. 14 (or there abouts) I called G Northern and they told me the application was approved Nov. 12th. 6) I contacted the Vendor they still had not heard from G Northern. 7) I Called Great Northern they reviewed the account and switched vendors to somone I had never worked with.. 8) I called the new vendor, they told me yes they had been contacted by G Northern re this account. all was approved they were just waiting for funding. The process should take +/- 90 days from the date of approval. I asked the vendor to make a note and deliver the fuel when the funding came in. 9) Mid February I called the Vendor, still no funds paid for account. Called G Northern, they said funds should arrive by the end of February or early March. 10) Beginning of March I called G northern, Funding not in yet maybe end of March. 11) Beginning of I April Called G Northern. They said still no funding, recommend I check back with them in a couple of weeks. 12) April 13th. I contact G Northern. Funds were paid in March for this account. (before my last call) One hand does not know what the other is doing. 13) Contacted Vendor, yep funds are in. We will deliver fuel. The price of fuel is up over 40% from the time of approval. till today. Most of the price increase has happened in the last 2 weeks. when funds were available but G Northern thought it was not. The other vendor would have been contact with me and most likely delivered fuel months earlier. (why I have an account with them) I really question their competence at Great Northern Corporation. I recommend you Avoid doing business with them if you can.

This time, I was in the restroom when he arrived. He stated he arrived at 9:25am, as you can see in the attached photos. I made the attempt to call him immediately after hearing him ring the doorbell, so he would be aware of me being in the restroom. I even got notified on my ring camera if him leaving a minute later at 9:26am, as shown in the picture. I tried flagging him down, yelling his name, and calling him as he started his truck and took off. Very frustrating and unprofessional. I never had issues with the last representative that delivered, but with Charlie, it has been miserable. Because of this, I have canceled services and went with another gas company that is going to service for 2.47 per gallon. So in a way, this is also saving me more. Win win. Bye-bye blue star.

One year they put a meter on my tank that reports levels back to the office, how convienent is that. Adam calls me when I get down to 20%, how thoughtful. You could say they do these things just to sell more fuel, until you run out and you have to take a cold shower. Over the years I've seen Blue Star Gas get better and better and I'm a fan. In life or business, you're either getting better or getting worse. Over 3 decades Blue Star Gas has done just that. I bake them cookies because I admire how they service the Mount Shasta residents.
