This USPS is always CRAZY and for some reason very unorganized. The labels are confusing and nobody seems to tell you what tape you need to use or if the label you just printed is the right one for your package. The staff was inattentive and unwilling to help. Thankfully I only had to go once during the year I lived in Queens. SO... If you have to go, get there early in the morning and make sure you have the right tape and label if shipping a package. read more

Past 2 days waiting for a package in my apartment building. Both days I buzzed the carrier in downstairs, and he literally doesn't come upstairs to deliver the package. He just goes straight to the mailbox and puts a note in "sorry we missed you" and leaves. I was standing in my hallway with the door open waiting for him and he didn't even ride the elevator up. The second time for the redelivery i left him a note via USPS.com saying come upstairs I'm here, I'm the one who buzzed you in and same thing happened. I would warn anyone who thinks to come here to apply for their passport. They are an inefficient office and the line for passports was terribly long. There are two lines, one for the regular post office and one for passports. There is NOTHING that indicates this. If you are lucky, someone will be outside and can answer you if you ask them. They do not announce this to new customers walking in. The person accepting passports has a strict 1 hour lunch that they must go on. The reasoning is "union" and that they must go on time so that they can return on time. I might be nit-picking here but if she does two minutes before 12 and doesn't accept my application, then she should arrive two minutes before 1, rather than 8 minutes after. Those 8 minutes could have been used to accept my application. That's a minor issue - what I had most issue with was how this lunch time was implemented by the woman in charge. Instead of issuing out numbers perhaps 10-15 mins ahead of the lunchtime, she handed it out exactly at noon. Is it not enough that we have been standing here for an hour that she cannot relieve us of out of our misery for an extra 15 mins outside? This, I consider POOR management. On the flip side, since I was standing there for well over an hour, I noticed their lines for the regular post office moved pretty quickly and the man helping out customers outside seemed helpful, if not slightly disgruntled. Truly pathetic! This is the worst P.O. I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They don't answer phones (and I'm disabled), and when you go to this SH!TH@LE the staff is rude as hell. Redelivery ALWAYS manages to get screwed up somehow, and again, when you try to get it in person (rude staff &) they can't seem to find your packages... Sometimes these morons leave packages unattended in obvious "Take-Me-I'm-Yours" locations (that is when they do deliver; although improperly). The worst of the worst of the worst! I can't think of any other way of describing what a truly horrible experience it is to deal with USPS. They need to ban their own TV commercials because they're all just a BUNCH OF LIES! Most post offices are awful places where negativity just emanates from the disgruntled workers. This PO is no exception. What is really awful is the package delivery service. Or rather, non-delivery "service". I can't count how many packages I (and my BF) have had to go get at the PO because the postmaster either doesn't even attempt to deliver the expected package, but still finds his/her way to leaving a notice in my mailbox, or doesn't ring my buzzer at all. Or simply doesn't leave a notice, and I've had to call after a package I was expecting to see where it was. On a few occasions, I've found a pile of packages dumped near the mailboxes in my building. Unfortunately, many online merchants have decided to throw failing USPS a bone and hand over their packages to them for delivery. So I have made it one of my missions to complain to every single one and let them know that USPS is shit and they shouldn't use them if they plan to keep deliveries going and keep customers happy. The latest is Amazon, which is a huge disappointment as they were always so convenient and sent via UPS. Our UPS guy is so friendly and on point - what a contrast. When I have gotten packages, the man who delivers is so gloomy. Never a smile from him. Sir, your crap job is not my fault. Horrible, terrible, sux... this usps is the worst one that I been to. Their system is ridiculously SLOW. I normally avoid going to post office because almost every single time, i have bad experience with them. This time, i got no choice because I needed to pick up a package from here, so I purposely went in early so i can avoid the long wait, there're only 2 ppl front of me, but still it wasted me 45 minutes in this location. They should separate the mailing windows and pick up windows. There are 2 staffs working and both of them helped customers for picking up package. But when is my turn, they cannot locate my package, it took them another 30 minutes to find it. I just cannot believe with all the great technology nowadays, they still so slow and they are not taking advantage of it. One star is only for the staffs, they are very nice and polite. But still they need to make some changes on the system, because after im done (45 minutes later) there are like another 15 ppl on line waiting. People are complaining and they are out of patients. I really hope next time when i return i can see some improvement. read more

The passport window says 10-3 no appointment but there were four families with kids turned down at 2:30pm saying they are done for the day. Very unprofessional of these people....they do what ever they want and start yelling out at customers with baby. read more

Absolute worst service here. Avoid if you can. I had to go there to pick up a package at 8.30AM so that I could then run to work. There was a whole crowd of people also waiting for the same thing. The clerks at the desk were not going to help us, we were all told just to stand in the post office and someone would come to distribute packages. Nobody came. We asked the manager for help and he basically ignored us. I want my stuff so I can get to work. We are all just waiting forever. After waiting until after 9.15AM, someone came and handed out a few packages so maybe 2 people got what they came for. every time the door opened, I could see they had piles of mail and boxes all disorganized. I used to not think this post office was so bad. The staff have to deal with a lot of different ethnicities and languages and in my experience have been patient with customers who simply don't understand the system or the English language very well. Then I began to sell on eBay. I can't leave packages on my doorstep for pickup because someone walking by will definitely jack it or the one time I tried, the driver never showed. So I print the slips and bring the boxes myself, usually putting them in the drop off box so I can avoid the incredibly long line. This past Thursday, I brought three boxes; one fit in the drop-off, the other two didn't. Fortunately, there wasn't a line (on December 17th around 2:00?! Crazy.) so I brought the other two boxes to the window. I told the clerk they were eBay and already paid for and he asked if I wanted a receipt (why would I get a receipt if I already paid online)? I said no thank you and left, feeling better since it seems the packages, even though I always send priority, seem to reach their destination faster if given to an agent. It's been three days now and two of the packages are on their way with their tracking info available; one is not. I don't think I should worry about strangers walking by stealing my boxes, I think I need to worry about the people working there, especially after reading all of these messages. The item was a pair of $700 boots. Fortunately, eBay said if they do have to provide my customer with a refund, they won't take it from my account but go after the post office for it. I referred the eBay agent to this Yelp page to show how unreliable and shifty the place is. And forget trying to get anyone on the phone. Don't even waste your time. And in spite of the many complaints received by USPS about this office, they don't do anything about it. The only reason I use them is because they are only a half of a mile's walk and the boxes are free. I used to think the Canal St post office was bad about losing things; this place is the worst! (This recent incident isn't the first bad experience, just the one to make me angry enough to write a review. They've "lost" my packages several times and I usually end up just eating it since I didn't realize eBay would go after them for the funds). UPDATE: I went to the post office. I was essentially told that if you drop your item in the drop box or the agent doesn't scan your pre-paid package right in front of you, you're SOL, which means they're stealing people's packages. I am preparing to file a complaint with the police. The supervisor was incredibly rude, the "gentleman" at window 4 pretended he didn't remember me even though we had a conversation and I was the only person in the office at the time. The supervisor told me to leave and refused to help in any way. She didn't even bother to go look for the package because she either stole it herself or looks the other way when a clerk does. This place should be investigated. I've dropped off many packages in the drop off box and if they don't fit in the window, an agent takes them, and no one has ever scanned asked if I'd like the item scanned in front of me. I assume when I drop two packages off with no one else in line that the items would be scanned immediately; one shows it wasn't scanned until 10:30 PM and the other wasn't scanned at all. Not bad at all. I'm not too sure why people shard all over the post offices in my neighborhood which includes the one on 37th Ave, and the other one on Broadway near Elmhurst Hospital. Comparing these three Post Offices to the one in Forest Hills, these offices operate much more efficiently in my opinion. There's far less chatter, and just strictly business. The residents in Forest Hills, they really have the tendency to strike up the most long lasting conversations with the postal workers. It's like, finish your transaction and please leave! But nah, those folks, they love to ask a million questions and talk about things with the postal workers that have nothing to do with their transaction. This is why I highly prefer coming to these Post Offices instead. It's straight to business, no mumbo jumbo. I came into pickup a certified mail that was not re-delivered to my home and also for a money order. With a line with about 7 people, I was in and out of there under 15 minutes. This has been my post office since I was born. I've never had an issue with anyone here. Yes once in a while you get an employee that might be having a difficult day but who doesn't. That's no reason to give them a bad review. Their delivery service is horrible. This is my second time not getting my package even if I was home all the time! They don't ring a doorbell or make a phone call. They just put a note in a mailbox so I have to pick it up at the post office by myself. It almost seems like they write the note first before they start mailing. I really had to get the package today but now I need to go there in person tomorrow and carry the huge box all the way back home.
