They have done quite a few improvements since a few years ago a big storm knocked down alit of trees. The Savage river runs right next to it. Unfortunately right now 6/25, you cannot go on the stone bridge over the river due to repairs. Just down the road is Candy-land that has a nice assortment of loose candy that you can mix and match. This is a definite rest stop if you are traveling I68.

A very cool place with a lot to offer…read more Funny thing is, I used to travel back and forth to Baltimore and DC for years for work and I would always pass by this place and I'd think, I wonder if that Penn Alps Restaurant is any good? I even had several of my customers who had businesses right up the road from this place who'd praise their food, but I have never once ate it. Hopefully one day :) Then not long ago me and a good friend of mine went on a little hiking adventure in the surrounding area with her kids and we decided to stop by here to look around and check things out. I was pleasantly surprised at all of the stuff they have here and the history tied to it all. It's such a cute little Swiss village and honestly has a decent amount of stuff to offer and learn about. Plus, there is a newer building behind all of this that looked to me like it was a super cool cafe at one time, but it was closed when I was there. It did have a sign on the door that said it would be reopening soon. The Cornucopia Cafe, which I hope to try soon as well. There is a lot to do and see here. Take your time and look around, buy some local merchandise, learn some history, and eat some good food. If you're on 68 heading East or West take a little break here to check it out and learn about a time period in which George Washington was a part of. Enjoy :)

We were driving the back road of Rt 50 on our way into Maryland for our adventure and just before…read morewe were to reach Cathedral State Park in Aurora WV area we happened upon this Yard Sale at the Aurora Area Historical Society building...oh wow, two birds with one stone Yard Sale shopping and seeing historical artifacts but that was not the case. The ladies at the Yard Sale were busy putting things out. It was about 8am. They first told us that they were not ready for us to look around but if we needed to go for it. Then when I started into the building (both doors open wide) they stopped me..the museum was closed. So I guess nothing good about this stop. Didn't buy anything, didn't get to see anything in the museum so we went on down the road..after my hubby Tony used the port a potty on site. Oh well, saved me time and money!!

This library is fine. It's not great. But it's not bad…read more The staff was friendly, but I didn't have much interaction with them. The space is very dated, and could do with a refresh. But it's very functional and it's seems a fair amount of pride and care go in to this library. The biggest reason this library gets only 3 stars from me though is the fact that there weren't very many good place to sit and get work done. Nor was there any sort of private study space in case you needed to have a study session or phone call. It's kind of all just one big room. This unfortunately also means the children, teens, and reading areas only really have their own "corner" and aren't separated at all. Most of my reviews come from the perspective of 1. "can I work here?", 2. "is it convenient and safe?", and 3. "can a reserve a room in case I need to make a phone call?". While it does okay at the first, definitely fulfills the second, it does not allow for the third.

Located on the Banks of Muddy Creek that flows into the Cheat River. The park is Free to enjoy with Free parking along the road. Across the street is abandoned road side picnic area and shelters from the 40s to the 60s. Once we went down the steps to the abandoned iron furnace works, I saw an amazing waterfall along the rocks The falls were gorgeous. I will definitely go here again. If you swim, it's not super deep but enough room to get wet and enjoy but remember No Lifeguard...
