This was my experience with the US STORAGE at Clifton Dr Montrose, CA. The manager made a supreme court case when I refused to review him immediately after the point of contracting US STORAGE on Jan 8, 2025 while being evacuated from my home during the nearby Altadena Fire. My rent rose 20% the day after the CA law protecting customers in emergency fire areas of L.A. County, January of 2025. US STORAGE decided to raise my rent by 39% in July 2026, WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN NOTICE required by CA Senate Bill SB709. California passed Senate Bill 709 (SB 709), officially known as the Self-Service Storage Facility Act, to protect consumers from aggressive price gouging and hidden business practices. I strongly urge customers of US STORAGE in the L.A. area to submit written complaints should they experience what I have, to the BBB, even though BBB isn't enforceable it still shows customer disapproval of US STORAGE and verifies the fake reviews the company generates here.

They have a generous grace period during which they send out several reminders. They are in the business of providing rental storage units, not seizing property. Also of note, during Covid, before we knew that we could claim unemployment we were worried about our bills and paying them in time. I called Enterprise at that time to inquire what would happen if I was late and they informed me that they were freezing all seizures during the lockdown. This is a solid, ethical business and I would recommend them to anyone.

They have a 24 hr kiosk and office hours from 9:30 AM until 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM Saturdays and closed office on Sundays. Rentals and Access available between the hours of 6:00 AM til 10:00 PM 7 days a week. Units feature various sizes, climate control (including wine storage), drive ups, enclosed drive ups, RV parking and more. There's a medium unit 10' x 10' that's pretty perfect and outdoor (no drive-up required) I'm eyeing - reasonable/better rates/discounts on their website versus in person. Parking in the area is pretty easy if just needing to check this place out and/or talk to someone in the office.

I used this storage facility for about a year and a half, and the experience was overall…read moredisappointing. I wanted to support a local business at the time hence why I selected this facility. I wanted to make my experiences public to warn others about this business. I found that the door right outside my unit was almost always never locked (the one before the access to my personal unit) and sometimes the front door to the building was wide open. There was trash inside and around my unit from the start (and consistently around in general), and the smell of mildew and marijuana was a constant issue. Carts are not available even after a mention of getting one cheap one (and because they will raise your rent every year with no amenities whatsoever). Communication overall was extremely poor - it took weeks just to get the light in my unit fixed. When I would physically go to the office, 50% of the time there was no one present during regular business hours to address my issues. It appears that the point person Misty is constantly frazzled and the job's responsibilities from her management company is either too overwhelming to handle or she isn't the best person for this job. When I asked about a refund for the eight months of unused portion of my annual payment (because I had moved further away), I learned that they do not offer refunds. There was nothing in the contract stating that unused time for annual payments were nonrefundable. I didn't agree to terms that weren't mentioned to me at all in any way. I offered a 20% "early cancellation fee" from the remaining unused rent owed to me. I attempted three times to end the relationship quickly, fairly, and amicably, but Misty and her management company refused by not responding or reiterating the contract that had no mention of annual term leases in any way. lt's a shame that businesses like this actively choose to go the route through small claims court and negative reviews than to do what's right. In this case, it came down to $665.60 (with the 20% deduction I offered) so you can get a sense of how this business operates. I would not recommend this facility/business based on my experience unless your expectations of a storage unit is at a bare, bare minimum.
