During the summer I could…read moreget away with the NYC Parks free lap swim program but during the rest of the year I have to find a real gym that does not hurt your wallet (or require you to sell your organs on ebay). The Bronx House solves that problem for me. I am a big fan of the variety of fitness class offerings and indoor cycling is the most popular (the class fills up right after the previous ab class). Cherelle, who leads this class on Tuesdays, is a great trainer and puts the hurt locker on while making exercise on a stationary bike "fun". The pool is 25 yards and way shorter than an olympic size pool (50 meters). Size matters, eh? During lap swim hours, the pool is divided into two lanes: slow and slower. For those who need a good workout, be prepared to swim around your neighbors. During the summer, test your patience with all of the visitors with day passes. The gym and pool hours are limited and designated for classes and gender/age groups. If the location works for you and you can accept the limited schedules, join the Bronx House. The gym, with the TRX equipment alone is superior to most of the $20 gyms in the area. Make sure to review the calendar for holiday and maintenance closings. I have made the mistake of showing up on a holiday and doing the sad Charlie Brown walk of shame home. IFHTP 3+

Staff does not get paid overtime, the whole summer we've been understaffed. Bronx House camp & building has received multiple of violations & still nothing has changed. The pink staff supervisors are beyond unprofessional, dress codes being broken yet regular staff were the only ones to get a write up for it. The way in which Lead Supervisors would go about talking to their staff gave parent instead of supervisor. Bronx house is not it. The disorganization when it came to trainings, daily schedules, even down to the trips. The higher staff aka the Pink shirts are very messy. All staff are but when leads were here it gave high school. There was supposed to be breaks 45- an hour for all staff shortage or not away from children & we have not gotten that YET. A class action lawsuit will be filed.

Shortly after, this person had to leave and we were in need of daycare that would offer care and education for our daughter (who was 2 at the time) that kept up the momentum for how much and quickly our daughter was learning. We eventually came to find TLE in Riverdale, and were so pleased with the initial impression. Through time, our daughter demonstrated continuous learning (started in daycare knowing numbers, letters, shapes, and colors, and now expanded number counting to 30, is able to list colors in Spanish, and always catches her mother and myself by surprise when she demonstrates her growing knowledge). Also, the way that this facility has managed safety and care during the heaviest parts of the COVID pandemic solidified to our family that we had chosen well. Since both her mother and I are considered essential workers, the fact that the daycare has remained open for a huge portion of this time (rarely did they close, but always had safety measures in place) made for a really supportive service. We loved that they also had requirements for the children to wear masks as well as the staff. Overall, there isn't anything negative I can say about this particular daycare. We moved away and had to select a new daycare, but I cannot emphasize enough how positive our experience has been with this facility. We will miss Surbhi, Teresa and all the lovely staff at this location dearly.

They worked with them on their comfort level, the instructors were very patient and it did the trick pretty quickly. I highly recommend ‍ There are many programs here at the Y that are great! The pool for lap or recreational swim, the gym and classes for working out, the after school programs, Camp Twelve Trails, music lessons, theatre, other youth and senior programs, and so much more.
