New Jersey Turnpike Authority - Imagine our surprise when the toll meter lit up with this amount. At least it thanked us.

Sticker shock! I am still in shock. $49.50. $49.50. To travel 69 miles. 69 miles. Heading south…read moretoward our home in Tennessee along Interstate 95 and still on vacation, we crossed the crazy-crowded George Washington Bridge and entered New Jersey near Fort Lee. There our GPS led us to the NJ Turnpike, a 6-lane southbound I-95 highway, 3 for cars and 3 for cars, busses and trucks. We enjoyed a fairly smooth road through heavy industrial areas: Newark Liberty International Airport, oil fields, warehouses, swampish lands, etc., and thankfully some refueling stops where travelers could shop for snacks and such. Not so thankfully, speeding 18-wheelers and racing cars flew by us occasionally, nearly blowing us off the road. We finally exited toward Pennsylvania, about 68 miles from the entrance and stopped at the toll booth where we handed the attendant our NJ Turnpike ticket stub. On our way north from Tennessee to Maine, more inland, the most we had paid for a toll was $5.00 for our SUV and travel trailer that we pulled behind it. When the toll meter lit up in front of us with the numbers 4950, both my spouse and I turned to each other and gasped. He began flipping through his wallet and I dove into my purse for mine. We came up $3.50 short and asked her if she took credit cards -- NO! So I dug deep to the bottom of my purse and found $2.00 more, and my spouse rifled through the console and found the rest in change. Phew! That left us with a few pennies and 2 dimes. With fear and trepidation, we asked the attendant, how would we pay the Pennsylvania toll? No problem, she said, the tolls are automated. They use cameras and the mail. We really do need to drive back the other direction and look for the specks of gold leaf in the pavement! Our $49.50 probably will pay for one or two more.

Maybe its my luck....every time I get on the turnpike at night there's construction with no one…read moreworking on whatever the project is. So this causes hours and hours of un necessary traffic. Also why close down three lanes for miles long, weeks after its just been worked on. Maybe I need to work for the state to understand better whats going on!!!

** WARNING: DO NOT BOOK!! **…read more This company is unprofessional, unresponsive and a complete scam. They will tell you they've booked AND PAID for hotels and activities and then when you arrive...the hotel will have no record of payment, the hotel will then charge YOU for your stay and this company will promise to reimburse you...but won't. Then the joy of disputing charges through your credit card company begin! They will also book activities for you and then you'll arrive...the vendor will have no record of your booking whatsoever!! ScanAm travel (more like ScamAm) added undue stress and anxiety to our trip...and here we are almost 2 months later, still dealing with this headache!! They keep saying "your refund check is in the mail". As if this isn't enough, days before our departure to Norway they fired the travel agent that was handling our account. They never told us, never reached out to us, didn't transition us to a new agent, nothing! We had to find out from the former employee herself after blowing up her phone out of desperation for answers. Completely unprofessional. Tom (the owner) was zero help through the entire process. He couldn't have cared less about us a customer. This company will be out of business soon. Don't say I didn't warn you...

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM A DEPOSIT AS YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR MONEY…read moreBACK. I booked a trip with ScanAm middle of 2019 for travel March 2020. Due to the pandemic, we are unable to travel as is it unsafe. We have not been able to rebook and won't be able to do so for a while as it is unsafe to travel. This is not enough to get my deposit back from them. They have now held my deposit for over a year and refuse to refund us. They are requiring me to get a lawyer to fight them for $1500 that could really help me and my family during this rough time. I will NEVER use a travel agent EVER again after this experience.

We picked up OurBus right across from the Javits Center, in the middle of the street…read more The storage bins were labeled, one for Baltimore, the other for DC. He scanned our ticket and we boarded. The bus was pretty full, so we ended up sitting separately. The above head storage bins are kind of tight, so I had to take something out of my over stuffed backpack to manage to wiggle it in. While my purse sat on my lap. I liked the foot rest and the hook on the handle on the seat in front of me. Trash bags were hung here and there. Looks like they also provided small bottles of water for us, though we had to grab those ourselves. The electric plugs didn't seem to work, but perhaps the ubs plugs in the ceiling did. Our driver was a great communicator. He set expectations so we knew that we had a 20 min rest stop before arriving at Baltimore, and pointed out things to help us to pay attention and to get back to the right bus. He warned us that given current construction that we were sure to arrive later than what our tickets said, and gave us his best eta given the circumstances. Another passenger later commented that the bus bathroom was clean. We kind of ended up being dropped off on a brightly painted bridge in the middle of no where - perhaps on Maryland Ave?, by a bus stop. A short walk from Penn Station.

Very disappointing experience…read more My family arrived at the Worcester, MA bus stop at 7:35 PM for a scheduled departure. We waited continuously until 8:10 PM, and the bus never arrived. When we contacted customer service, we were told the bus had already left at 7:47 PM, which is simply not consistent with what we experienced. Instead of investigating the situation or showing any empathy, customer service insisted the bus had departed and refused to offer a refund or any meaningful resolution. It's extremely frustrating to be told we missed a bus that never appeared while we were waiting at the designated pickup location. Reliable service and responsive customer support are essential for travelers. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this service and hope the company improves both its bus tracking and customer service processes.
