Literally tried calling about a prescription they messed up 3 times, only to get a message that the answering machine wasn't set up. I live nearby and went to office during regular business hours (not during lunchtime) to find the door locked. There is no way to contact them. I tried calling the following week and suddenly Lt I could leave messages again. I left a message and they never called back despite saying they could with a half hour. Avoid this mess. read more

Worst experience ever... they said I was not listed as having a PCP usually front desk will call them to confirm that indeed i am listed with them all i got was attitude like they dont give af. I'm trying to get seen for a condition that is life or death and the front desk lady just kicked me out the office for "being rude" when im frustrated that she wouldnt call or do anything other than shake her head and say she cant do anything while i know they can call and confirm and i can be seen... this happened with other providers that I have went to and front desk called easily resolved... read more

I am affirm with the other reviews that Dr. Varma is a great listener and expresses care for her patients. The person who I talked with on the phone to make an appointment and the person I talked to in the front desk is the same person. When I came in, she was polite and cordial on a Monday morning--was not rude like what most other reviews have mentioned. I see that Dr. Varma did write a response back, saying that there is another person taking the front desk, and I do think this person is different. (I didn't get her name.) Pros: - Free parking available--there is street parking pretty easy to find too - Barely a wait on a Monday morning - Pharmacy downstairs - Bathrooms are available, but you need to ask for the keys Cons: - I was there early but waited a bit--because it seems like the doctor was busy tending to patients on the phone - the pharmacy didn't have the over-the-counter medicine Dr. Varma recommended me--due to being out of stock, but that's not her office's responsibility. It does contribute to convenience factor depending on the person Note: They are renovating, so they have a paper on the front door saying that if you might be uncomfortable, to reschedule. I didn't really have a problem except for having a runny nose, after I stayed there for a while. I think there is some dust, so a mask could be useful to put on. read more

If I could rate this place -0, I would. Reading some of the other comments, I totally agree 100%! When I first started coming to Dr Varma, it was great! The service was always excellent, and the staff was superb. Talk about now...forget it! I haven't been to my yearly check up's in about 3 years, and it's all because of the idiots working the front desk. This new one working here is beyond rude. She is classless and lacks the people skills it takes to work a position like hers. The short time I was there, I observed how bothered she would get at helping people either in person, or over the phone. I waited 6 hours for my medication to be filled, all because of her. I keep telling myself that's it, I'm done, I'm never going back... well today helped me confirm that choice. I never write a review, but I have to write for this particular place. I wanted to make an appointment to see an eye doctor, but I need a referral. I've been calling their office since Thursday today is Monday and they didn't pick up my call. I left 2-3 voice messages. They didn't return my call back and they are very unprofessional. I'm very upset and I was letting them know that I was upset and I'm trying to call just to make an appointment. PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING! This all happened this morning. Went as a new patient, made my appointment a whole week ago and gave them my insurance card and all the information (assuming they would check my insurance and would call me if they had a problem with the eligibility, like most doctor offices do) I get to the appointment nice and early I check in. Right off the bat the receptionist asks for my information and she then tells me that they haven't checked my insurance and they're having trouble finding my eligibility (understandable but could've been avoided if they had done their job prior to my appointment, like most offices), she then tells me to call them myself so I do. I finally get them on the phone and ask the receptionist if she could speak to them to allow them to help her access the eligibility for my insurance and she refuses. Very unprofessional manner and quite rude for a receptionist, I have very bad social anxiety so this was not pleasant at all and I basically had a panic attack in the waiting room because of this receptionist behavior. Also would like to mention that she complained about me to other people in the office. Very short-tempered and I felt a lack of respect as a patient, I finally had her go through the process of checking my insurance eligibility, I managed that by talking with my insurance provider through the phone, (her job to do anyways) and she did it with a ton of resentment and attitude and kept wanting me to reschedule (important to mention I was the only patient in the room that morning for two hours). She then tells me that they didn't take my insurance after having me wait almost two hours, this whole thing could have been avoided if they had done their job as receptionist prior to my appointment by checking in with my insurance. Went home sobbing in my car as this scenario triggered a panic attack, i believe the receptionists name was something like yvette? Not sure will be calling soon to make sure I have the correct name and will be writing a letter to the doctor to make sure she hears of this. I'd also like to add that I am simply a 21 year old college student and I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt but the way I was treated this morning was beyond the worst. read more

I have no words. This is my boyfriends yelp but I had to leave a review because of how bad the service was. I left so upset! The lady that answers the phone is so rude & seems so annoyed when you ask questions. I'm not sure if the front desk lady is the same girl but she was just as bad. This was suppose to be my first visit there & it's definitely my last. I've never experienced this kind of service at a doctors office in my life. I developed flu like symptoms on Tuesday and am in the vulnerable group for the Coronavirus. So as a precaution I reached out to Dr. Varma through the Patient Portal and she has been in touch with me ever since. It feels very reassuring to be able to reach my doctor at a time like this. She had me talk to her Nurse Practitioner who prescribed medicine and 3 days later I am back to normal! Very thankful for Dr. Varma and her team and their care, concern, and professionalism. read more

Upon my first visit as a new patient I noticed that the facility didn't look clean. It's hard to describe other than this office appears as though is hasn't been updated since the 1980's. The staff was very unprofessional. As I waited in line, one staff member was on the telephone. She sounded flustered, hung up, and literally swore out loud to herself. I was a bit dumbfounded by this type of language/behavior in a place of medical practice. It doesn't get better. After waiting for a bit, I was taken to a room to wait even longer for Dr. Varma, who entered with a young assistant who seemed very uncomfortable. This in turn made me feel pretty uncomfortable. I honestly would have appreciated at the very least if the Doctor asked if I was comfortable when asked to remove my shirt in front of this random assistant who was shadowing the doctor... because I definetly wasn't comfortable. ZERO bed side manner on her part. My previous PCP would have taken every step to make sure I was comfortable... Dr. Varma then proceeded to do the most routine and banal check up that I honestly could have done myself and sent me on my way. To make matters worse, fast forward a few months later, I'm now going through a very rough divorce, so the follow up appointment was the last thing on my mind and I missed the date. Mind you, the only reason I transferred to this doctor is because of an insurance change and my last PCP's office ALWAYS gave their patients a call a day in advance to remind them, but due to the 2 person staff at this small practice that isn't something they offer. What they do offer is a $25 fine for missing an appointment that isn't waivable regardless of your situation. I tried to state my case hoping there would be a little understanding as your PCP / Patient relationship is something you'd think they'd want to build, but instead I was informed that this is place is a business, and they don't make any exceptions since I signed the waiver... Can't argue with that, and I understand their stance on this situation, however with the lack of compassion, professionalism, an outdated facility, terrible customer service, and a complete disregard for their patients comfort, it's safe to say I'm not coming back to this practice and I highly suggest you explore other options as well. read more

BEWARE: if this place can be given zero stars then that's what it deserves. I called to make an appointment as a new patient hoping to find a new PCP close to home. I never got a confirmation call for my appointment. This was in August 2015. I could've shown up 30-60 mins late and probably would have never received a call. There was a wait to see the doctor even though I had an appointment which was fine, I'm used to waiting at doctor offices. This is the part where I'm very ticked off. The appointment went just fine, I addressed my concerns and symptoms and Dr ordered for me to get labs drawn. I go to the usual Lab I've been going in Alhambra. The doctor told me to check back in a week later for the results. I followed up a week later and was told by the receptionist that they haven't received anything. Called back again a week after, nothing and was told their fax machine is broken. Called again and still no results. Called again, was told to call back at 9am because the doctor wasn't in yet. Called after 9am and was told that the doctor doesn't get in until 10:30am. Got tired of waiting so I called the lab to find out if my labs were ever processed and delivered, was informed that it was HAND DELIVERED on August 14. They have had it for the past 2 months and I NEVER got a call. Called again this past week to ask if I can get a copy of my lab results, the receptionist said she would ask the doctor and ask for my phone number, her responses were "mmhmm uh huh", sounded very convincing that she was writing my number down. I had to ask if someone was going to call me back she said "yes, after I talk to the doctor" and sure enough NOBODY called me back. That receptionist needs to learn a thing a two about customer service. If you don't like your job then go find another one. You are an INCONVENIENCE to the patients. read more

The office isn't fancy but the service is Absolutely Spectacular !!! I went during the first month of my first pregnancy and I was seen quickly, Dr Varma sat down while answering all my questions, scheduled all my blood tests, and got me ready for transfer to an ob gyn. The office staff also called me the moment my test results were in. Two months later it was above and beyond the call of duty when Dr. Varma herself called to follow up on a call I made at 5:30pm. The office closes at 5pm by the way. I never expected that and I still don't but I'm veritably impressed that Dr. Varma is the 2nd Doctor in my life that's ever called me themselves. read more
