I loved my experience at Usha's! About 6 weeks before my wedding I wanted to have my wedding dress altered. The standard size fit me well but I wanted the layered tulle skirt shortened a little bit. I searched "tailor" on yelp and started making a bunch of calls, and many other tailors weren't open on weekends or demanded bridal appointments made several weeks in advance! I work as a resident physician and my work schedule is not that flexible. Usha's was happy to see me for a Saturday appointment just a few days in advance, and Usha was fantastic! She was really careful and detail-oriented with my dress and did an amazing job! Prices were extremely reasonable. She also coached me on how to put on the dress to reduce strain on the zipper, and even fixed an uneven internal hem in the dress for no added cost. I really like that she had us plan a "finish by" date several before my wedding so that I knew when I could expect to pick up the dress. When it was time to pick up the dress (actually a few days before the "finish by" date!), I got a text notification and she had me try on the dress again to make sure it was perfect. I'll definitely be back at Usha's for any future tailoring needs! (And I'll post pics of my dress after my wedding, which was postponed due to the pandemic) read more

While getting fitted she will also be working on other customers as well so you will not be made to feel special in ANY way. They will not make you aware of any prices and when you ask for them to explain AVOID speaking to the man, his name is Kumar Bishnupuri. He will become aggressive and will point his finger directly at your face with no distance. He made my mother and 8 year old daughter feel EXTREMELY unsafe. He was filled with a lot of hostility even tho they were the ones to ruin my wedding dress. Horrible customer service and no communication whatsoever. I had my final wedding dress alterations done today and my dress was completely RUINED. It was scrunched up on the sides, not smooth or form fitting like we discussed at the fitting.The lady made a comment that it was the zipper and my body. So they also will take no accountability for their mistakes. Please read their responses for their negative reviews, it will prove my point of them taking no accountability. I searched for a place to take my bridesmaid dress on Yelp and chose Usha based on positive Yelp reviews. I had little less than 2 weeks to drop it off and pick up. She also responded quickly to a Yelp message to request an estimate. Correspondence with her was very prompt. I made the drive to Fenton and it was worth it. Usha is very friendly and welcoming in her shop. She accommodated my tight schedule easily with a little room to spare in case additional alterations were required. Do not take your wedding dress here. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the dress was "ready" when she said. She spent the entire time telling me how heavy my dress was, how much work it was, too many buttons and was clearly upset with having me as a client. She sewed two loop holes (1 as a back up) to my dress and then used my actual buttons on my dress as the bustle point, which then broke while I was there. Her response was "well your dress is too heavy". I took my dress elsewhere to actually be altered and put proper bustle points. Thankfully was able to find someone to help. Maybe she's fine with pants or even hemming simple dress but do not, do not bring a wedding dress here. Especially if it's an elaborate ball gown. It's difficult to find an affordable and reliable place for alterations. We just happened to stumble upon Usha on Yelp and decided to give it a go! The location was a hop, skip, and a jump from where I live in Fenton, and the studio is actually in Usha's home - trust me, Yelp did not steer us wrong. Going inside, you'll see racks of clothing, bridesmaid dresses and other items that are either finished or waiting to be done. My husband had 3 of his suits altered and a stack of jeans hemmed! On average, it takes about 3-5 business days depending on how many items of clothing you have. I had jeans hemmed for $10 for regular, and I believe $15 for original. Very reasonable compared to where I used to go. Usha is very warm, friendly, and professional. It's like going to my aunt's house to visit because she is so welcoming! Usha did a magnificent job with our daughter's wedding dress! The dress needed a lot of work done in order to fit our slender girl perfectly. Some of the things done: material was added to the shoulders so they didn't fall down; the front was altered by taking it in a bit and appliques were added; the length had to be shortened, which meant relocating the lace higher up; the inner lining was shortened; and the biggest challenge of all was re-designing the back to add tulle, lace, and buttons to eliminate the plunging back. We never had a moment's hesitation in asking Usha to do this for us, as she did beautiful work with our daughter's prom dress, years earlier. I found Usha while soliciting information online about an alternations place that had someone who knew about Indian weddings. My sister was getting married in a Hindu ceremony, and my kids got specially made clothes from India to wear from the groom's mom. They came several months before the wedding, and so needed some alterations when the date got closer. I wasn't sure if they fit right either, and so wanted an expert. I also needed a formal gown altered to fit me for the black tie reception. I brought all of these things and Usha and her husband hooked me up! I felt so much better that she could make the clothes fit my kids, and got affirmation that they fit right, since I am not familiar with the style. She was quick and efficient, got the clothes done on time, was reasonably priced, and my gown looked perfect too! I highly recommend her for any type of alteration! I needed a bridesmaid dress altered so decided to go to Usha's Alteration & Tailoring. My mom spoke highly of it! It is located in what appears to be cute house right off the road. It's easy to miss but for reference it is close to Aldi, Payless, and the post office. My favorite part about this place is how welcoming Usha is. When you get there she will greet you with a smile and welcome you in.
