Although this post office in Bay Terrace is closer to me, I now go to the post office in Whitestone because the customer service is better there. There's one particular employee at this post office that's extremely rude and condescending to customers. She emanates passive aggressive "I hate my job" energy and ends up taking out her frustration on customers. Most post offices staff will accept mail at the window, but this one employee asks customers to walk back towards the entrance and utilize the mail slot. I'm mailing out a package and letters, just accept my mail! Like other reviewers have mentioned, I've also observed this employee go to the back room to text on her phone while her poor co-worker has to pick up the slack! The condition of the post office is also very messy and it could use a sweeping (see photo). read more

I echo the comments made by others regarding the employees carrying on personal conversations when they are supposed to be paying attention to the customer. When I called an employee out on it today, he was very rude and did not see anything wrong with what he was doing. Nor did his colleague. In fact, he said then when am I supposed to talk to my colleague? I do not know if they receive poor training or just choose to ignore it. read more

Today I encountered a very hostile post office employee. Lady gives meaning to going postal lol. I went to ship items and was rude annoyed and hostile from the moment I walked in. She was on her personal phone headset looked like AirPods and having a personal conversation that me coming in apparently interrupted and she was angry. She proceeded to refuse to help and got hostile and rude. I asked for someone above her but she said nobody was there and I asked for her name and said sharell. I left and filed a complaint. I am shocked there was no supervisor present on a Monday afternoon and shocked postal workers can prioritize their personal conversations over customers. Upon reading other reviews this location seems to be poorly run and many customers have similar poor experiences. I hope management does something about the hostile rude behavior of this woman. read more

Like many other reviews, this is literally the worst post office... Its unfortunately the closest to my apartment but literally if you can avoid this post office, GO ELSEWHERE. Lines are always out the door, employees make it VERY obvious they rather not be there and are very unwelcoming, numerous times employees have been on facetime/personal phone calls while serving myself and other customers, one employee will be serving customers while i watch other employees go to the back and avoid the lines/helping out. Its literally just a nightmare of a post office because of their staff. I give it two stars because at least my packages get to where they need to but if you are in a legitimate rush to drop something off, go to a different post office. read more

This post office is the closest to my home and it has parking, so I felt I had no choice but to come here. Nothing but bad experiences every time! Always long lines. After standing in a long line with already pre-paid postage, I was told I can not use a priority box for a first class mail even though I took the time and covered every "priority" word on the box with dark tape. Always long wait & line. Impossible to get the work done within an hour. So even though I live couple blocks from here but I use different USPS branch. They need to have more people working at the office. Most of time only one window opens and they don't even accept prepaid drop-offs. read more

This USPS is right by my job so I felt as it was convenient to go here, rather than the one by my house. I felt super rushed. I was yelled at to move to a table after purchasing an envelope, in the middle of packing my things. Employees had NO patience for me and was plain rude to me. I already printed the label at home and I just need to drop off the package and there is no drop off box for package... And somehow there was a long line there on a weekday which is very unusual?! I did not want to cut in front of anyone and I did not want to waste 30minutes to drop off the package... By and large, this post office is like most others. Neither very efficient nor very inefficient. It is, after all, a government entity and it would be unfair to compare it to FedEx or DHL or UPS. You be the judge. This is what happened. My wife and I went to Brazil and bought a whole bunch of handicrafts, embroidered tea towels etc., which a friend of ours sent to us by mail. The package came to Bayside post office and stayed there for 3 weeks. We got no notice that it was there. The Express Mail guy left no note for us at the front door. We are both in our seventies and one of us is always home. Finally our friend sent us a tracking number from Brazil and when we checked it out on the USPS website we found that it was sent back to Brazil on the 3rd of December! It was sent from Brazil on the 3rd of November! I went to the USPS facility on 216th Street and was given a sympathetic hearing by Phil, the Delivery Supervisor. Mr. Harmon Rodriguez, the General Manager for all three Bayside facilities tried at first to pin the blame on us for not having acted earlier. I pointed out to him that if we had received at least one notice, and then we failed to act, he could blame us. He said that he could do nothing in the matter, but would conduct an internal inquiry to find out who was responsible! read more

This post office is always damn hot inside like a damn furnace or a jungle for no apparent reason. When there are short to no lines you can expect to be in and out quick. However, when it gets even somewhat crowded expect to be online for some time. Especially when there's someone all chit chatty at the window. Then, it takes forever to move the line. A lil chit chat is cool but when it evolves into a 20 min conversation it really irritates the hell outta people even if you do have that many packages to mail out. This ain't a social club. Do your business and get moving for christ sakes. Had a guy the other day talking up a storm from postage rates to goddamn sports for at least 15 mins while some people on line were surely thinking about knocking the guy out. What should've taken 10 mins, it took at least half an hour just being in line. On the upside there are plenty of parking spaces if you don't mind walking a little. The staff is also usually friendly. Easy parking is the only reason I would rather come to this post office than another. Other than that it's just another crappy post office like any other. read more
