Going to the post office is not something I look forward to. I went to this USPS location yesterday (7/24) and interacted with three different staff members. Sometimes at the post office I find that the employees can be kind of short (similar to the DMV). Not at this location - each employee that I spoke with was kind and funny. When I mentioned that I forgot my packing tape, they let me use a glue stick to put on a shipping label. Plus, there was hardly any wait. While I still won't be going out of my way to make frequent post office trips, this was about as good an experience as it gets! Also, there is ample parking space. read more

Way to go UPS. Not only do you have the rudest people working (customer service anyone???), you leave packages outside of my house and expect no one to just take them? 2 packages were supposedly delivered to me yesterday and surprise-were not there when I got home at 7:45pm. On Monday you also left packages outside MY FRONT DOOR ON A BUSY STREET WHERE ANYONE COULD TAKE THEM that I was lucky enough to grab before anyone else could. This was easily the best experience I have EVER had at a USPS location. My fiance and I both went in to get passports. This was her first passport and my second, my first having been lost between a series of moves. We both needed our photos taken as well so we were prepared to spend a few hours to get this all settled. Imagine my surprise and delight when we were taken care of quickly and with kindness and humor! We spoke with multiple employees (I wish I had gotten names because they were truly a joy!) and everyone was incredibly sweet. I had forgotten a form and the gentleman at the counter provided a new one for me without acting like I was inconveniencing him. While I filled out my form, he had my fiance laughing and talking about our honeymoon (she's an introvert and this is super rare to get her to come out of her shell!) . I know it's 2018 but we still receive comments/inappropriate questions for being two women in a relationship (I know, crazy riiiight?) but this post office and it's employees were warm, welcoming, and wonderful. We will DEFINITELY be going back for all of our postal needs! read more

I have been going to this post office for more than 15 years and always appreciate everyone who works there. I've never had a negative experience here, although I am fortunate enough to have a flexible schedule that allows me to escape the high traffic times. I understand the USPS has had cuts, like most companies and organizations, so I try to remain patient and kind, even during the holiday rush. You can't beat the price and I have only had one delivery issue in all of this time - no one is perfect. In that one instance (@Sheffield location), the employee went above and beyond for me. Visiting the USPS is just like anything else, be prepared to wait a bit, have your ducks in a row and some patience, and you never know how far a smile and cheerful outlook will take you. read more

I'm not one to really do these types of things but here I go. I've been trying to schedule an appointment through THE online website which I have been trying to since last Friday the 12th. I called them on Friday and they said there is a glitch in the system and they dont even own the website, not even they can help with my situation. So I called them this morning at 10:39 AM to ask for further assistance. Once again I heard the same thing with a glitch in the system and they dont own the website yada yada~Then the gentleman I was conversing with said these words and I quote ~ " Come to this location 3024 N Ashland Ave bring all your completed paperwork and photo copies and I'll take the bullet for you and set you up for this appointment. " 15 minutes later I arrive, wait in line, and cordially ask the clerk about my experience with the phone call to help with my passport due to the website not working. I told her my endeavors with making the appointments but to no avail; she persisted they do not take walk-ins. Which I had acknowledged--but some Man told me to come in, and I would be aided. Where is the customer service in here? She said she was the only one in charge of passports and that MAN isn't. SO my question is why did he say he would take care of me? My mistake for not asking for a name before I got off the phone and headed there. Again no value for customer service here. Who in their right mind would be carrying all their necessary documents such as a BIRTH CERTIFICATE to a post office. RUDE. Her voice was aggressive and offputting and thereafter she said once again for the third time there is a glitch in the system and proceeded to yell NEXT! I came in an organized fashion, and was treated inadequately. No one has time for such insolence. Especially during these times of anguish and distress. read more

I've visited this location twice now, and each time Lucille has gone out of her way to help me. Not only did she offer (without any prompting from me) useful information that helped me save time and money, but she was very patient when I kept badgering her with further questions. I cannot tell you how frustrated I am with this facility. This used to be my favorite post office to go to, but the last few times I have gone the staff have been rude and inattentive. Some of my complaints include my parcels that I dropped off a week before Christmas were not delivered until five days after Christmas, and lost stamps in the automated machine in front of the store. Today was the final straw. I went to go pay to have a package delivered to a friend. The employee, Jerry, was snarky and rude. He criticized me for using the wrong label (I accidentally used a priority label). I explained to him that it was the only label I could find. He told me that there were labels by the door. I go over and two labels cost a dollar. Granted, it's a just a dollar. I mentioned how I thought the price for the labels was ridiculous and how I was on a budget. Jerry then began to criticize me and started telling me how I should spend my money. I was so upset, I grabbed my parcel and walked out the door. As I was walking out, Jerry started telling me that I needed to pay for the two greeting cards I had purchased at the Dollar Tree next door. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this location. If any management reads these posts, it is my strong recommendation that Jerry be reprimanded. I would be mortified if any of my customer service talked to any customers the way he spoke with me. read more

I've been putting off getting a passport for years. So I finally got off my butt and went to this location!! I've heard horror stories about waiting in line at a post office so I was ready for everything !! The customers were all willing to help anyone w questions which was super awesome and then when I got to the lady working on passports she was amazing !! I know she was super stressed because they were short staffed but she kept her cool and made it fun for me. She chatted w me while getting all the info she needed and I left cracking jokes w her !! FANTASTIC experience !! I will be going there again if I need anything done ! Wish I had gotten her name so she can get the credit she deserves !!! read more

We went here to get our daughters' first passports. We arrived right at 10 am to be told that the passport agent was running late. The passport agent arrived 20 minutes later and acted annoyed that there was a line. It took about an hour of waiting with our 2.5 year old twins and it was a miserable experience. We went on Saturday morning for passport of our infant child and were in and out in 20 Minutes including the photos, application receipt, oath and entire process. In the past few weeks when whether has been cold, I received mail delivery only twice in spite of this being the Christmas season. I've shipped a few things out from this location and experienced great customer service. I had always brought in a pre-paid shipping label and the USPS employee would taped it on and ship it out with friendly conversation during the transaction. Then today, I went in and there was an additional woman working the counter who did nothing but yell at me from behind the counter within the first couple minutes of browsing at which box would work best, all while she was helping other customers. First it was I needed to buy tape if I wanted to use a certain box (which had never been told to me prior). So I retrieved the giant envelope which was almost double the price of the box and got back in line. Then she yelled at me again (still helping a different customer) that I needed to write the address on the envelope, so I told her I had a pre-paid label. Then she ordered me over to her station and asked intrusive questions about what I was shipping (a dress I had sold online) and why I was shipping it and why I had a pre-paid envelope. Frankly, lady, it's none of your business. But she would not accept it because again, I would have to BUY tape from her in order to attach my pre-paid shipping label. Not once has anyone at this postal office been so rude to myself or any other customer. I wish I could have gotten her name because she seriously needs to reconsider her employment choice. If you do choose to send your mail out here, avoid the woman with the very short spiked hair cut - she's a rude individual with no sense of customer service or manners. read more

I needed to buy a money order and send it with some other stuff priority mail. I'd spent a long time in line the day before at the Irving Park PO only to be told they were out of money orders (the implication being that they're ALWAYS out). I was in a bit of a panic since what I was sending was time-sensitive, but the clerk at the Ashland PO could not have been more helpful, calmly explaining my options and having me fill out forms. Whereas I was feeling the eyes of those in line behind me burning holes in my back as I monopolized a window, she was just like "calm down, take your time." Granted, this relaxed attitude contributes to longer lines, but once you actually make it to the window, you're in for a totally zen postal experience. read more

This location totally turned its game around. Used to be full of angry people. I got there at 6:55pm, was ready to get evil stares or denied service. They were beyond helpful! Accommodating. So great. I've been there before and they are so patient with people. I will say, a lot of people in line have no idea what they're doing and are appear shocked they have to pay for this great service, but the issue is always the people in line. Also don't go here and expect the people to hold the door for you. Moms with strollers roll up, old people, etc. the patrons at this location just let the door slam in their face. If you give this place a bad review, look in the mirror because you're the problem. read more

This place is the worst. Look, I get it places like this are not enjoyable for the employees or the customer but it's like they enjoy making the customer unhappy. The employees make up their own rules and schedules. They do not follow what's posted on line or even on their door. I went on a Sat and was told I would have to come back on a weekday between 10-3pm. Ok this was on me. Went back the next Monday at 10:00, got to the front of the line by 10:20 and was told i couldn't process anything til after 10:30am, even though the lady, Internet, and sign on the door clearly said 10am. I was still ok, annoyed but no big deal went to get coffee. When I came back at 10:30ish I got in line, made it to the front only to be told to get in a different line, mind you it was not crazy busy and they knew why I was there, and the three woman laughing at other customers. I finally got to the counter, with the same woman who told me to come back ten minutes before. All she did was look at my documentation, sign and make copies. Yet she couldn't do that 50 min earlier when she said processing didn't start til 1030. And she was texting as I was talking to her. Really?? After 3 visits she finally decided to do her job. read more

If I could give zero stars for this place I would, it's absolutely terrible. I've been in twice, both experiences were awful! Like most people I avoid the Post Office at all costs but I went in because I needed to change the name on my passport after getting married. I had all of the necessary paperwork filled out but still had two questions; the send to address and if I could use a stapler to attach my passport photo (that I had to get taken somewhere else). When I got to the front of the line one of the associates said she couldn't help me and I would have to wait for the other one. The other one yelled that I would have to do it myself and all they could do was mail my information. After waiting in the confusing lines TWICE (there are two, but nobody tells you that so when you get to the front of one they tell you that's not the passport line and send you to the other one) they said they didn't have the address for the Passport Renewal Services office. Are you kidding?!? They don't have the address for the Passport Renewal Services office at a passport services location of the United States Post Office?!?! So I had to go home and get the address because they literally would not help me. Needless to say I never went back, it turns out you can ship all of the necessary documents for the renewal at a UPS store. I don't expect the associates at the Post Office to be friendly but I'm not sure why the folks at this location chose a job working with the public when they have absolutely ZERO people skills. It's like the customer is a complete inconvenience unless you're purchasing stamps. Avoid this location if at all possible! read more

I am only giving this 5 stars because of Jerry. He helped us with our daughter's passports. He was extremely kind and helpful. He made sure all was filled out and sorted all our documents. I can go on forever about him, he was outstanding. In the past the meanest people manned the passport line and it was nothing short of rude and ignorant. I had no choice but to come here today out of desperation. I was ready for the worst and then there was Jerry. What an angel from heaven, honestly. Now the regular line was very long and the usual nasty woman was there helping people but I believe the survey they now hand out at the end has them all on their toes. I hope some of these people understand that we pay for what they do, they need to show some manners. If it were not for Jerry, who knows what today would have been like. I've seen people wait in line for passports and then get told they are taking a lunch break or they're not taking anymore applications for the day and it's only 2pm. I was also surprised to see the photo machine working, there's a change. Let's hope the service level continues here. Now I only wish the office in Lincoln Park would start to improve, those people there are the reason we come to Graceland, the LP clerks are a nightmare to say the least. read more
