This was a truly shocking experience. I took in my Mercedes GL450 for a minor oil leak and got a…read morequote 45 minutes later for over $8k. Initially I didn't question anything, but as I discussed why so many things needed replacement or repair, one of the things he said needed replacement was my motor mounts. Still not questioning things, I just expressed exasperation because they had just been replaced 14 months earlier. Suddenly, I could tell he felt uncomfortable and he started really over explaining and telling me he'd show me how "stripped they were." It was this reaction that just tipped me off that something was wrong. I ended up taking the car into two other places just to ask for second opinions on all the recommended work. They were laughing at how ridiculous the proposed work was from Kapp's. One place showed me how it would have been impossible for him to have assessed the need for new motor mounts without removing some covers that isn't a quick thing. Sad. Total dishonesty. I ended up getting the leak fixed for about $800.
