Took my daughter in for ear infection with no wait. After the intern said let me get prescription we waited! waited! & waited! after I saw & heard intern go to next room then a staff member went in and they discussed hospital procedures while we "Waited".. While we waited I noticed a metaphoric picture" on the wall with the photo pic being of "a jar with coins inside" & a caption that said "Make a change" with 1800 phone# below the caption so I called while we waited. I heard phone ring in the next room And doctor came in and said "what's the problem". He then left again & back again with the prescription. I had to return But to a different hospital. We went straight to the Pharmacy and then to another hospital because the quack didn't actually see that the ear was closed. I had a second visit but to a different hospital ER because the complacent quack at UTMB Galveston didn't accurately look into ear via full examination. Any tentative intern would see ear was closed and had to insert the flint so ear drops could enter the ear.. It was early weekend day with 2 hospital visits, the first visit was UTMB then the second ER visit was Texas city which they correctly examined & remedied. Quack Quack lol read more

After two losses back to back on utmbs watch and my deceased baby being called a specimen and me being treated like garbage..... utmb is on my bad list. also being told that I have no other option than to take the corn glucose drink when corn makes me sick and then them telling me I can just get a blood test instead AND having a thyroid autoimmune disease and them not knowing what they are talking about in regards to my thyroid, I feel like they don't care about the people. They just want the paycheck and move on. I have lost two babies to late term miscarriage because they were not taking care of my thyroid problems the way I knew they needed to be cared for. My babies died on utmb's watch and it breaks my heart. I am pregnant again and switching doctors because yet again utmb is doing the same thing. DONT GO!! read more

Brian the nurse in ICU is one of the best and most sincere people I've ever met in my life. I've had 2 surgeries in 2 days and he's gone above and beyond to help me. 2 of the worse and most painful days in my life and he truly came through to help me. The other staff was friendly and helpful as well, but this guy deserves a raise and promotion. His behavior should be the standard of how to treat patients. read more

Be very careful when going to this joint. Every time you pay a bill they go back 3 to 4 years to send you new bills even though you've never received the first bill for it . There should be a statue of limitation on this. Thoroughly really needs to be investigated ! Most of the doctors leave the care to residence and fellows who are clueless. Went here up to 5 times between my daughter and I for GI problems that were never diagnosed or resolved. Had to go to Lake Jackson for good G.I. doctors. No issues with the gyno department great staff. Just scared of any new bills they will send to me five years from now. Sincerely , someone that has to go off the island to get good care! read more

I have been going to UTMB for about 8 months I have met a lot of medical people on both sides of the street. But I find this hospital and its clinics are way too conservative they will let you suffer severe pain and only give Excedrin number 3. They do not believe in pain medication nor do they believe in giving you your usual and customary medications such as Adivan and other. I have had it with this place it is absolutely ridiculous all the doctors have been very nice to me until some doctor I never met in my life came to me in a Nazi type of attitude. Telling me I did not need my usual and customary medication after taking it for 7 years 1 mg. I have been under terrible stress and I think at that moment when he acted like this my rubber bands snapped. He was not my doctor he had not read up on my case he didn't know anything about me and he talked to me in a very frightening, authoritarian manner no doubt I walked. He had zero bedside manners and I will not take this crap off of anybody.. I find at some of the Physician's assistants and related are better than some of the doctors these doctors are training doctors and they just are not ready. The day I cannot have my normal medication for anxiety which is not a narcotic is the day I've got to find a whole other medical system. Furthermore I find that the podiatrist Clinic way too anxious to start chopping up on your foot I'm done with UTMB. They don't follow up with stuff the lady screwed up my appointment for my MRI they're just a real big mess over there. I do not recommend this hospital if you have serious problems or if you need any kind of anxiety medication and or pain medicine when you have really serious issues and in particular if you are a senior. It is very sad because there's some super nice people that work there and others that help you but I do not know the name of the doctor that I encountered tonight but he can go straight to Hades. read more

We had to visit this facility in April 2018 for abdominal issues, the fees are complete gouging! $1250 at the time of admittance, 2 months later another $1530.00 and then 6 months!!! 6 months!!! later another bill for $40.00 Absurd!! They ran a ridiculous amount of unnecessary tests, prescribed nothing, diagnosed nothing, charged an enormous amount of money and then said if symptoms persist in 5 days, come back in. We came for infusion and this lady poke my wife 2 times on her arm and couldn't do it. Call another girl to do it and the other did it on the 3rd time... Then she set the machine to start and after 2 hours waiting with the bag full still... she realized Machine is in slow motion she say..SMH.now we wait for another 3 hours..when she finish, she des connect with out closing the liquid and got it all over her arm and blanket..Is our first time here and last. First off I am a huge supporter of utmb and all that they do for me and my family, but my new doctor Katherine Serrano was the first MD at utmb that i had to disagree with. I have been having terrible knee pains for a couple of years especially at nighttime so I decided to make an appointment with her. Long story short she she never ran any tests and wrote a prescription for ibuprofen (something i already was taking everyday for it), made a blind diagnosis, and billed medicaid. If I could give this hospital a minus 100 I would. Avoid this Hospital unless you like to be belittled and in severe pain. Long story short is : I had a scheduled C-Section here and after I was supposed to have medicine through the epidural because of allergies. Well they forgot to write prescription for pain medicine so I went for 6 hrs after being cut open to have my baby without pain medicine and by the 4th hr when I was sure something had to be wrong with my sutures to be in that much pain and begging them to look because if felt like I was being ripped open ( dr was in er surgery so no medicine until he was done then had something to eat before coming up to write script , don't ask me why he couldn't call ) the nurse was acting like a jerk and rolling her eyes as I'm crying and she even had the balls to tell the oncoming nurse I was a drama queen.. did I mention I went 6 hrs after being cut open without pain medicine, the forgot to put nerve block as planned and it took 12 tries by multiple different students before the actual dr decided I'd been a teaching experiment long enough. Sorry for run on sentences and punctuation if your that anal scroll on I'm just that livid for the bad treatment that I could care less right now.. I wouldn't take a rabid dog here to be put down, probably make poor thing suffer too.. anyways avoid this hospital unless your a severe pain fanatic .. at least I feel I tried to warn people now . read more

Clinic: Some doctors are excellent while the rest are worst, only knows how to write a prescription. Make sure you see a faculty doctor with good clinical background but not a nurse or a student who pretends like a doctor. Research: Worst place for career. Even a 20 years experienced excellent researcher with 30-40 publications neither gets promoted nor gets over 50K salary. Very poor pay for the researcher. Exception: administrative stuff, some doctors, some faculties and some researcher in favor of a faculty boss-who get promotion and bonus every single year. Huge discrimination. read more

DO NOT! make the mistake I did by going to this clinic. They will insert numerous bogus charges that they claim you agreed to when obviously you did not. I've received another bill 6 months later after I paid all my dues and the amount is ridiculous. They will continue bombard you with made up charges and threaten you about transferring the charges to a collection agency. They are extremely dishonest when it comes to billing so please avoid them at all costs and go elsewhere if you can. read more

Doctors and staff are okay, but the billing department is crooked. They estimated my procedure in writing, then afterwards they doubled the amount. They will not negotiate. It is basically the " old bait and switch" . The will set you up then steal your money. Liars, and crooks. My procedure went fine, no reason to double the estimated amount. I am so disappointed and beside myself right now, I'm not certain what to do and how to properly file a complaint with UTMB. After over a year of being overly satisfied with UTMB, I have every doctor I could ever use there, I needed a double spinal fusion back surgery with Dr. Lindsey that is no joke. So, I get the surgery and am allegedly on the one of the only 2 luxury floors of the hospital. Well, I was there for five days and during those five days I consistently had explosive diarrhea all over myself and NOT ONCE would anyone give me a bath or sponge bath. I could barely speak due to the morphine drip and I begged and I begged to be cleaned or for them to give me wipes to clean myself. I couldn't walk or move myself because of the surgery, but when I did get into the bathroom there were no paper towels for me to use, they were out. I'm 6'2 and they also kept me in a very short gown, naked and I exposed myself, unintentionally, to every single person who came to deal with me. The nurses wouldn't even bring me another gown so I could wear one one way and the other the other way. I have never been so disgusted, unsanitary and humiliated in my life. No one should ever live like this. I was discharged wearing one tiny little gown, covered in shit with my wiener hanging out. As a man I don't care, I could still today cry and cry about it. read more
