After my visit w/ Dr. Dombrowski, I felt compelled to write this review. If you dont have time to…read moreread the whole review, bottom line is that he is AMAZING - best doc I have seen for neck and back problems EVER. He listened, encouraged questions, cared and came up w/ a plan that did not initially involve injections. He prescribed 2 medications and they have made a world of difference in my neck - I can hardly belive that it could feel so normal again. In addition to being an experienced and caring doctor, his breath and depth of knowledge is remarkable and his personality is exceptional. He made me feel so comfortable, encouraged questions and never made me feel rushed. Seven months ago I woke up w/ a neck problem so extreme that I could barely take a step without feeling severe pain. My PCP prescribed a medication that was too strong for me - it got rid of the pain AND my memory. Flash forward 7 months. During the 7 months of neck pain I met with a Physical Therapist who has helped me w/ exercises for various aches and pains over the years. This time w/ the exercises giving no relief and the neck pain so severe, I gave up and decided I would probably need cortocosteroid injections. I had an MRI and made an appointment w/ an Orthopedic Surgeon my PCP recommended. I had a folder with the recent cervical MRI and all the doctor's notes and reports from visits to previous doctors. The Orthopedic Surgeon had me take additional Xrays in his office. He immediately recommended I see a doctor for cortocosterioid injections in my neck. He didn't spend more than 7 minutes in the examining room and most of the time with his BACK to me -it was an odd experience. I tried to see the doctor he recommended but her staff made so many mistakes in making the appointment, telling me I had an appt on March 31, then after receiving many confirmation requests from them, when I called to ask a question, was told I didnt have an appt till April 7. I called again to ask about get injections and was told I did have a March 31 appt. It was all more than I wanted to deal with and canceled with her. I feel so fortunate that I got to quickly see Dr. John F. Dombrowski at the Washington Pain Center on New Mexico Ave, in NW DC . He was AMAZING. Without even looking at the MRI report and the Xrays, he told me exactly what the MRI report would say and what the Xrays would show - he is that experienced. AND best of all, Instead of getting an injection, he suggested I first try some medications. After taking one pill yesterday and one today, my neck already feels better. I can actually turn my head without wincing in pain. There was another patient who came in after me. Before Dr. Dombrowski saw him, he came to me to ask me a "favor"- would I mind if he saw the other patient before me as Dr. D. knew it would be a short appointment with the other patient. How many doctors would ask for your permission to do that or would they just do what they want? I have been kept waiting such long times at some offices, with no explanation being given from anyone, that I have walked out. The office waiting room is inviting and comfortable AND the receptionists are the nicest I have ever met. They both were so kind. I especially appreciated Kate helping me use the Ipad to fill out the forms and telling me I did not need to rush. IMHO, the people at the front desk can create a positive or negative feeling from the moment you walk into an office. For me, if the first people you meet in an office are too busy to look up and welcome you, that is not a good sign. Kate and the other receptionist created a very positive environment. I am thankful I found Dr. Dombrowski and his team. Am looking forward to returning in a couple weeks for a checkup!!

Saved my life. I have someone on my side now…read more Dr Maroof is amazing, she listens, & doesn't just prescribe the same thing to everyone she actually tries to treat the ROOT CAUSE and choose an appropriate medicine for that particular INDIVIDUAL. She's always been SPOT ON with medications for me, when normally I'm always that non-responsive group or the 1% severe adverse reaction group. I was referred to her by a friend who also recommended her to me, she had made a positive difference in their life as well. When I was at an extraordinary low point in my life she brought me BACK FROM THE BRINK and has continued to change my life in positive ways I could never hope for before. Dr Maroof actually truly LISTENS and we have a MUTUAL TRUST, something that I couldn't find before and it was just beyond awful, tortuous. I am so lucky to have her as my physician. I went through multiple before who caused a lot more harm to me than good, where I even had went inpatient due to treatment medications etc. Never has Dr Maroof caused any harm to me at all. I know she truly CARES and I feel like I finally have someone on my side. That has made all the difference in my health and recovery. I am always able to see her as soon as I need to, even often times I have seen her next day when I was really in a spot. I literally CRIED the first time I saw her out of utter RELIEF because I had finally gotten into the room with a doctor who empathized with me and understood I needed help so badly and she was willing to use current evidence based practice and her own intelligence and excellent experience to help me. Just knowing Dr Maroof exists gives me HOPE for myself, this world, and mental health/addiction treatment in general. Thank you Dr Maroof- you are the best, more than you could ever know!!!!!! :) :) :)

Dr. Maslen is hands down the best; can not recommend him higher. My wife and I both love him. My…read moredad was my PCP for years, but after he retired I struggled for years to find a new PCP... and stumbled on Dr. Maslen based on a recommendation on our community list serve. Making him our family doc was the best decision we ever made. He is INCREDIBLY approachable; you never feel rushed, he takes the time to answer all questions big and small -- and over all just seems to go the extra mile, and REALLY & TRULY CARE about his patients. PCPs/General practitioner family docs are a dying breed. To find a PCP that is a sole practitioner, not in a large medical group is EXTREMELY rare, if not basically extinct these days. It makes SUCH a HUGE difference to have a doc, where you are HIS patient rather than just another number to a random group practice. The gold ol' days of medicine are almost gone and it is just so amazing that Dr. Maslen is still there. All the pressures in medicine today push, if not force docs to sell their practices and join these large medical groups-- costs, insurance, etc are the culprit here. We are just so thankful to have a doctor that loves what he does and endures the incredible pressures to retain his independent sole practice. Idk.. I could keep rambling... but there are not enough words to convey how grateful my wife and I are for Dr. Maslen.

I move a lot and have to find new doctors ...a lot. I read every review I can on in network doctors…read morebefore closing a PCP and I opted to choose Dr Maslen even though the wait was THREE months long. I believe I learned that he sets aside 2 appointments per week for new patients. I learned this bc I called so many times hoping for an opening. Not because it was urgent. But I wanted to make sure referrals were going to be in place, etc. No one cancels their appts. so when they say 3 months and "they'll call you if there's a cancellation...." don't hold your breath. But I'm very happy with my new PCP! He was comfortable with my diagnoses and complicated conditions and the treatment course I'm on so I actually am not going to all of those specialists appts. for now. He was so nice, easy to talk to and made me feel welcome.
