Utz' Ipetik means goodness in the Quiche language of Guatemala. It's also the name of the street vendor by the consulate of Guatemala. There is no menu, but they do have a few dishes listed on their sign and on postcards. The woman who took my order and cooked didn't speak English. I spotted some fried plantains, fried chicken, fryers, a grill, and many Igloo coolers.
Offerings include tostadas, fried plantains, chicken with potatoes, steak, garnachas, sandwiches, etc. I noticed some handmade tortillas or maybe pupusas?
Two chicken tostadas ($10 for two): Two freshly fried corn tortillas topped with shredded lettuce, shredded chicken (boneless, skinless), sauces, and a celery and bell pepper relish. The chicken was tender and the sauces were good (not spicy). One was like crema, and the other was red and sweet. The tostadas were overloaded with lots of things - no beans or cheese like you'd expect. The tortilla was crispy and nothing was too salty or heavy. Tasty. I would have liked some spicy heat or hot sauce.
They accept Zelle or cash. I didn't see any place to sit and eat, but she did ask me for here or to go (at least I think that's what she asked me). There was a covered table with a bench, but there were other things on the table.
Parking might be hard because people park in the area to go to the consulate. read more
