Incredible blue corn tortillas! Amazing family and amazing service. My favorite is the chicharon with the squash blossom. Such savory goodness when mixed with the spicy salsa. Echo Park and LA staple and among LA's best. Hands down. Great vibes all-around.

Chicken with super hot salsa on the side! Delicious but didn't want to slather it!

The food where is amazing and so well-priced. My friend and I got there at the end of the day, so missed out on the squash blossoms, but we can't wait to go back and try it. We got the chicken, which was very good, and the chicharon, which blew our minds! Definitely recommend getting there early afternoon for all the things, but we were so glad to try what we did. Incredible food, great price, can't wait to go back.

Huitlacoche with chicharrón quesadilla, I was too excited to even think to take a picture before taking a few bites

The service was amazing, the daughter of the owner of the cart was making the food, I had huitlacoche for the first time, and it was amazing. I am happy I had it there first. She makes great conversation, her technique was great, I was beyond impressed.

Words cannot describe how fire the quesadillas are here. We had chicharrón I believe added to ours and the crunchy and cheesy goddess of a quesadilla was created ever so tasty. The lady working the cart was really friendly (I spoke to her in Spanish so I'm not sure if she speaks English but there's nothing fingers/pointing won't achieve). All of the sides and salsas we added to our quesadilla were an appreciated addition to the flavor as well. I am so happy we stopped here to try this out. I didn't realize how much I would love a blue corn quesadilla!

Service was personable! Food was amazing! I highly recommend!

The King James chicken & beef were . The service was exceptional and I have added their locations to my calendar. The elotes with the goat cheese is excellent!

I tried huitlacoche (also known as 'Mexican truffle') for the first time and it was sooo gas. I had been meaning to hit up Alejandra's quesadilla cart, which is located in a covert parking lot in Echo park. Look for the rainbow umbrella and the blue corn tortillas. You can't miss it. Well actually you can so that's why I'm telling you the visual cues. Anyways, her cart has grown quite the reputation for being one of the only places cooking up huitlacoche in LA. The english translation is literally 'corn smut' and the photos on google do not look appetizing-- not one bit. I mean... it's quite literally fungus that grows on rotten corn. I can only describe the taste as earthy, mushroom/umami-esque, and subtle. It really isn't as potent as it looks. The tasting notes were quite mild and it paired amazingly with the Oaxacan cheese and freshness of the blue corn tortillas. You can also choose between squash blossoms, mushrooms, or chicharron in the quesadilla as well if you're turned off by the idea of corn fungus. Alejandra's granddaughter was actually the one cooking it up today. Alejandra was off to the side chilling. As she should. What I love about food like this is that it's simple. I'm talking literally 3 ingredients. When dishes are simple, the raw ingredients really have to shine-- and they sure did with this huitlacoche quesadilla.

Read about Alejandra's Quesadillas recently when looking up spots to try a huitlacoche dish... such a nice treat! My favorite was the huitlacoche & squash blossom mix ($8). The cheese was so savory and had a perfect pull factor... the blue corn tortilla was bien tostada. Walked a few minutes down the road to enjoy the meal at Echo Park

Been wanting to try this lady's food for a long time. Finally made it here! I think it is funny all kinds of reviews saying this lady is Oaxacan or the food is Estilo DF. If you actually take a moment to chat with her she will tell you she is from Michoacan. Description of what I ordered: Blue corn quesadilla filled with chorizo potato and squash blossoms. She has all the fixings hanging there on the cart onion cilantro nopales and a couple salsas. Her red salsa is 5 alarm! Really good delicious meal. Highly recommend.

Simple condiment section...red for hot, green for mild.

I just found the cart!! Literally eating and posting because I've been looking for her infamous cart for weeks. She's open Friday Saturday Sunday. Tried the pork and squash blossoms....amazing! Went for the salsa verde and it's just the perfect MILD. Not too spicy..just right. Plenty of lot parking. Just be careful of the parking enforcement..they are always around.

Still operating ? And if so what is the current schedule?

    Yes ! Her current schedule is Fri-Mon from 11:30am - 7:00pm .

Is she still there? What are the hours?

    Yes , from 11am to 7pm

    Is she there now?

Yes , she said Fridays , Saturdays and Sundays. Mondays she canceled them cause she has other spots like PLACITA OLVERA

Where is she located these days (January 2023)? And what time? Thanks.

    Is she still serving huitlacoche?

Yes , squash flower my favorite to mix the corn fungus with.

    Anyone know the current hrs?

I asked her today and she said Fri-Mon 11:30a to 6:30p

When is this open? The hours say they're open until 5pm on Mondays, but I just drove here (3pm Monday) and there's no one there :(

I had lunch there on a Friday at 1:30 pm. I've heard Fri-Sun but not certain.

Does anybody know the hours of this cart?? The yelp page is incorrect.

As of this past Friday she said Fri-Mon 11am-6pm.

Did she move? I'm at Sunset and Echo Pk on Saturday noon and only see a fruit cart.

Still near entrance to public parking lot south of Sunset. She's there Fri-Mon 11am-6pm.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience.
