I go here with my girlfriend all the time. Staff is nice store is very clean. Unlike some asian stores this place doesnt smell funny. I like that aspect very much since I am buying food there I dont want my grocery store to smell like wet dog. read more

Asian or just a foodie, Uwajimaya's is the place. Prettymuch anything Asian you want in groceries. Great gift, kitchen appliances and implements and on and on. The only thing better is the Seattle Uwajimaya. Extensive live seafood and a deli too. The look and the cleanliness is top rate, not like almost all other Asian stores with things cramned all way to the ceilings, coasted with dust and falling into the tiny ailes. Service to is great in comparasion too - ever been followed around an Asian store by the 'help' to make sure you don't steal anything? And that is sort of why Uwajimaya get five stars. Not so much of what it is, but what it isn't. It's a contemporary Western store which just so happens to be filled with all things Asian. read more

Love their chocolate persimmon so yummy! From their deli I like their Szechuan spicy tofu! Their tofu and green bean the tofu was not flavor able however the green beans tasted good with the Szechuan spicy tofu! Their mapo tofu I didn't like. read more

Very clean and nice! Very generous portions at the food area as well! Only negative I can think of is if you are buying more obscure items make sure to check the expiration date... I think some of their items have been sitting there for quite some time. read more

They have lots of interesting items here. Everything from produce to meat, frozen food, bakery, and fresh seafood. They also have a deli that has items like chow mein and General tso's chicken and a soup bar with some seating and they have ready made sandwiches, sushi, teriyaki bowls, and other stuff. Definitely a good place to grab lunch. I got a chirashi bowl from their ready made sushi items. It was not as good as the ones at musashis, but it was half the price so I wasn't expecting it to be. I also got their sashimi tuna to make my own sushi at home. I tried this chocolate cream horn bun which was a bun with chocolate on top and a chocolate cream filling. It was tasty! Love this place and so glad there's one in Bellevue! read more

Good/very good/great produce, Asian goods, and deli food generally.This one star low rating is only for today's experience with one dish ordered from the deli . Ordered the curry ramen just now. The beef curry was okay... on the sweet side. The noodles however, were terrible... as bad as I've had. Either they didn't use regular ramen noodles or they overcooked them so badly you couldn't tell. The first time my chopsticks brought the noodles to the surface you saw the broken shortened lengths of noodles that result from overcooking... and the first bite into the soggy/mushy noodles confirmed what you would expect... utter disappointment. When I brought the state of the noodles to the attention of the staff (three of them looked on) they basically said that this is how it is. Suspect they really didn't want to look at the bowl too closely (would have noticed the broken noodle fragments) or be troubled by doing something different unless I made more of a fuss ... and maybe I'm being passive aggressive by just accepting the dish and writing as I am now. Don't mean to knock the chain or the store generally... been going to different Uwajimaya stores for many years and would continue to recommend them among other Asian stores depending on what folks wanted. However, would not recommend this Uwajimaya for a ramen dish or any soup noodle dish ... especially with no effort to comprehend the problem with something as basic as overcooked noodles... this was just a very unexpectedly bad experience (deli food generally been good/as expected) and the rating will probably be upgraded the next time I come and am motivated to write a review (maybe I'll just eat something different or skip any soup noodle dish from the deli). read more

Nice supermarket! It's probably the first time I ever wrote review for a supermarket and I was really impressed by Uwajimaya at Bellevue. Every time I went there to get some lunch box or some quick grocery stuffs, they never disappointed me. And their employees are so nice to help me find things I need. Will definitely come back often for the quality of grocery stuff and good services. read more

It's not nearly as big as the Uwajimaya in Seattle, but it's a nice satellite location if you're on the Eastside. The Bellevue site is more grocery store, less "conglomeration of Asian market stalls", but it's good for your fix -- pocky, Japanese and other Asian sauces, nice produce. Surprisingly, the freezer in the ramen aisle has a nice selection of Asian frozen pseudo-meat vegetarian products (including pseudo-duck and pseudo-eel), if you're into that sort of thing. I really like how Uwajimaya is so clean and nice inside.. They also have a lot of items you can choose from.. Especially if you want to make sushi at home... etc. This place is bigger than the one at China Town. The parking is so much better also!!! It is not as cramped, and there is no ever increasing limit of $7.50 you have to buy before getting free parking. Even though $7.50 is very easy to go over here because much of their things are way overly inflated. Such as their produce and their fruits. In all, come here to get little snacks. My kids like getting the asian cookies and chips. They also have a nice collection of frozen items you can buy. But I definitely would not come here if your looking for a weeks worth of groceries. That is where Safeway (Even at safeway is pretty pricey) and my other asian grocers that I go to which has cheaper groceries. So I would say..if you have certain types of meats or seafood you can get it here... But if your looking for a weeks worth of groceries your going to be running at least 100..And this is not the place to be!!!!. For a meal with friends over to make sushi, I went up to $150 =(...My eel costed me 10 bucks alone, tube of mayonaise 8 bucks, and some raw sushimi all at least 7 bucks but gave me 5 pieces.. So you can see things here are not cheap. If you wanted to get a bell pepper, it would cost you 3 bucks... or an orange probably $1.25 by weight.. This is much more than other asian grocers.....and if you wanted to buy a meat, produce, and dry foods for dinner... it would easily run up to how much a meal would cost at a normal restaurant itself. I recently had the pleasure of checking out the new Bellevue Uwajimaya. I have been to the Seattle store once, many years ago, and i thought it was great but i never found a reason to go back, I do not have alot of experience or interest in asian foods and cultures, atleast no more than your average gal. I do however have a great love for seafood and I have worked in the seafood industry for going on fifteen years, from a retail level to a corporate level. One day on the way home from a family gathering, I decided to check out the new bellevue store, I actually intended to stop at whole foods for some seafood, and i did, but their prices were astronomically high, beyond the limits of reason, so I decided before I buy anything I had better check out this new Uwajimaya to do a little shopping around, I mean, what the heck? It was a weekend and i had time to kill. I have to say, After everyhting i have seen at a retail level in seafood, I was truly blown away. The fact that they had live Tilapia swimming around in a tank was just entertaining, The seafood counter was extremely busy which typically i don't like, because crowds are annoying, but it was almost like the guys behind the counter were putting on a show. They were all joking around with the customers and every body was smiling and laughing, and the workers were all moving so quickly and effeciently. It was a very welcoming vibe and so i didn't hesitate to join the masses and get myself some fish. There must have been six or seven people in front of me in line but I only waited about one minute, which wasn't even long enough because the variety of all the fresh seafood was so extensive that i had only just begun to decide what I was in the mood for. Before i knew it, a young gentleman stepped out from behind the counter and approached me and actually told me that he would be delighted to help me or answer any questions I might have. His name tag said Ryan and he was extremely charming (and handsome :-)) as were the rest of the guys working. I asked him what was fresh and he told me that the Copper River Sockeye was flown from Alaska and that it was all the hype. I told him I wasn;t looking for quite that much fish and yet somehow he talked me into it with the support of another gentleman working. He asked if I wanted it filleted, and this wasn't a big deal to me since i have alot of experience with seafood and I told him i did not want to be a bother and I saw how busy they were but he insisted on making it easier on me so i said yes. When I got home, the fillets were perfect and there was enough for me to invite a couple of friends over. SO FRESH! Everything there was a seafood lover's dream. I also stopped at the meat department and the guy there was also very funny and helpful, I did not catch his name but I told him I wanted a good steak for grilling and he pointed me in the direction of some Kobe tri tips. They were phenomenal. I have never written a review this long in my life but it was so nice to see that real service, and passion, is not completely lost yet. It was so refreshing and i will definately come back frequently. I can't wait to see all the other departments. I hope the rest of the staff is as outstanding as the people that helped me today. PS. The lady complaining about the worms in her cod, It's completely common, not only in cod but alot of whitefish such as halibut, ling, sole, grouper, monkfish... etc. They are not parasitic to humans, and I am sure that the workers did their best to pick them out, but sometimes you just miss them. They get into the fish in the water, long before they ever reach retail level, and the fact they were still alive is an indication of freshness. You should give this market another chance and maybe you will have an experience as outstanding as mine. read more

I shop at Uwajimaya Bellevue from time to time, but my recent trip to Uwajimaya Bellevue was REALLY awful. The cashier was a 30ish woman. She overcharged me for two items. The 1st item sells by weight, and she charged me for over 9 lbs. I nicely asked her to weigh it again, and it came out to be only 5lbs something. The 2nd item was soup base. It seems by count. She scanned it and charged 60cents more than the correct price. Of course she refunded the difference when I asked, but she did not say anything like sorry the whole time. read more

I used to LOVE going in every week to load up on sashimi then head home for a feast. Not anymore. The quality of the fish here has hit rock bottom. The tuna looked okay in the package but there was gristle hidden on the bottom side, and once cut, the rubbery meat looked like it was flash-thawed in a microwave. The uni was pale and tasted like metal. Everything was bad. I still go in every 6-8 months in the vain hope things will change but I have not found decent sashimi at this store in years. Finally, a grocery store close to my house. This is great. I use dot go to the old location from time to time, but now I shop here most of the time. I like their vegetables and their food court. I even got some gift from their gift sections to my friends, its nice to get unique gifts, thats rare to be found somewhere else. read more

i miss uwajimaya so much.....they have the best assortment of asian gifts,groceries,figurines,toys,just about anything....

dont know why that lady said the reman are blanded....i love there reman noodle...is the best i ever taste.
