Had to check in for a checkup and yearly blood work, and it's always a pleasure to see Dr. Alice…read more She knocks before she comes into the exam room! I have been morphing to a vegan diet, so I brought her the book I'm reading "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Furhman, and she was fine with me continuing the food plan, and said she will peruse the book and monitor my progress. She sent me up to the 3rd floor for the blood work, very easy in this wing of the medical center. There was only one person waiting so I got in and out right away. UCLA Medical Center is the most practical and convenient medical practice I have ever been exposed to. When you're in their system, anywhere you go they can pull up all your records and see what's going on. And they usually send you a follow-up review request so you can let UCLA know how you liked your visit. The only unfortunate issue in this visit had nothing to do with the medical center and that was that my appt happened to be on the day after there was an underground explosion on Westwood Blvd., and the entire intersection by the medical center was closed! Luckily I know how to cut through the university so was only delayed a few minutes. Talk about your news trucks all over the place! UCLA Medical, you rock!

This is my new doctor (internist). I've only seen her once, but I really liked her and was…read moreimpressed with the amount of time she spent with me and with her thoroughness (although a recent article in the NY Times has me questioning whether thoroughness is such a good thing: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/11/health/views/11essa.html?ex=1363060800&en=0f55c1ae184eae47&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink). Anyway, I appreciated Dr. Alice Agzarian's candor, and feel relieved that I selected her on the basis of a recommendation of some random stranger in line with me at the Costco Pharmacy to be my primary care physician for the purpose of my HMO. During my visit with Dr. Agzarian, I interacted with several of her staff members, all of whom I found to be really pleasant. And I only spent a few minutes in waiting, bonus! One note: Dr. Agzarian does not prescribe birth control, which is fine, as I've always had that taken care of by my lady-specialists. But if you like your GP to handle your non-baby needs, she's not the one for you.

Giving 1 star is too generous. I was erroneously told I had a mass after a routine screening. My…read moredoctor told me to contact the Director of radiology, Dr. Fischer who signed off on my test. She was unreachable. I was left scrambling getting second opinions from doctors and radiologists outside of the Iris Cantor Imaging Center. It was difficult to obtain my CD images from this center and I was redirected to wrong departments and left on hold for way too long. Even when I reached out to Dr. Fischer to tell her of another radiologist's findings that conflicted with hers I was not able to reach her directly. For almost a month I was left in a state of panic over the incompetence of the doctors that I dealt with at UCLA. This imaging center isn't what it used to be. There is NOTHING UCLA/Iris Cantor Imaging Center can do to remedy this. Hopefully this review will help someone avoid what I went through.

During the pandemic, I sought to get a PCP even though Westwood is far from the Valley. I got an…read moreappt with Dr. Narain at first but she has limited days and limited hours (only Wednesdays from 1p-3p) which is inconvenient to working person. I ended up seeing Dr Kransdorf for earlier time but the appt desk still assigned me to Dr. Narain. So I liked Dr. Kransdrf who I should have switched to instead. Thereafter my interactions at first with Dr. Narain was great and she was thorough. But after one year her attentiveness became less and she was dismissive of concerns of urinary tract infections, my cholesterol levels and my prediabetes. Now she decided not to renew my blood pressure medication because she wanted me to retake a urinary lab again. Is this right to refuse life saving meds just because of misunderstanding and she didn't follow through the 1st time? I'm sorry I can't see this doctor anymore or come back to UCLA for any health issues. I got better healthcare back in the South than here in LA. It's time to say goodbye forever UCLA Health!
