I went to start my car today and the key wouldn't turn. These things are usually related to the steering column being locked, but after messing with that a bit, it was clear that something in the ignition block was broken. I called Geico roadside assistance and the guy that came out said he used to be a AAA locksmith and that it was definitely something inside, but he doesn't fix that anymore and Geico doesn't offer it as roadside assistance. I called around and got a quote for 40% more than Michael at V & M. Michael said that this was a common problem with my model of car (VW Jetta) and he had to go get a new housing for it. He came by within a few hours, did a quick, friendly and professional job and even though it was still very expensive, it was reasonably priced for these kinds of problems and compared to the competition. TL, DR: if you need anything car-key-lock related, call Mike. Full length version: I bought a new-to-me Prius which only came w/ 1 remote and an un-cut key blade. I stopped at the parts dept. at my local dealership to look into purchasing a fob and having it cut and programmed. Just the fob alone - $360. And they would have to special order it. I would then have to go to the service department and have them cut ($100) and program ($ didn't get that far). So I picked my jaw up off the ground, GTFO there, came home, hit up Yelp, and found Mike. He came to my house within 30 min. of me calling and ended up hooking us up w/ working keys and remotes for another car as well. Cost of 4 fully working fobs (cutting 3 blades, programming 3, providing 2 new - I think, 'cause I kinda lost count) was LESS than the cost of 1 from the dealership. To boot, he's a super nice guy.
