I didn't know what to expect but whatever my expectations were, they were greatly exceeded! They were novices such as myself in the class as well as current gun owners and prior military; this was a co-ed class. They had refreshments available, to include good coffee. This is a Black owned business, and I was happy to patronize. I also purchased a unit of pepper gel and a book during our break. We did not go to the range during this class but were told we could go on our own time. I tried to use the "contact us" section of the website to get info about scheduling my range practice. I did not get a response, but this review reminded me to look at pictures I'd taken during class. I have emails and telephone numbers for the instructors, so I'll be reaching out tomorrow. If you're considering taking a course or purchasing a fire arm, you won't be disappointed using Black Diamond.

I attended the class to get my certificate to apply for the NC concealed carry permit, but I left class with so much more. Donnie and Ernie are consummate professionals whose extensive real-world experience lends credibility to their training. They also have enough insight to recognize that students arrive with widely varying skill levels and prior exposure. Their blocks of instruction are thoughtfully sequenced and clearly articulated, allowing trainees to absorb complex material at a manageable pace while progressively building confidence. Although some of the curriculum set forth by PPSB is a bit cumbersome, they organized the content to fit within the three-day format. The standard is the standard and no shortcuts or "gimmies" are given, but even novice shooters can achieve it by paying attention and applying the principles. Of note, the discussion of physiological responses under acute stress definitely helped on practice day. Unlike similar courses I've attended in years past where instructors project an air of bravado, Donnie and Ernie struck an ideal balance: personable, engaging, and approachable while maintaining an unwavering seriousness about safety.
