No place is perfect and every once in a while I've had tk really press in against a provider who tried to take shortcuts instead of address g the underlying issue. I've been suffering from PTSD ever since I returned from Iraq in 2007. About one year after my deployment, dramatic thoughts kept reappearing, making me angry. Till one day, I just couldn't take it anymore and came to VALB for mental help. Dr. Smita asked me some questions that day and handed me over to Physician Assistant Sue Tin for follow-up care. I had a video appointment with Sue Tin. I told her that a year after I returned from Iraq in 2007, traumatic thoughts kept reappearing, making me angry, and it kept getting worse and worse. She said it's an anger issue and put me on Quetiapine, which didn't do anything but made me sleep, and woke up feeling tired and drugged up. Then I had an appointment with a senior Psychologist Dr. James Edward. Before the appointment, I had to take a test, but I didn't know what the test was for. I was shocked when Dr. Edward told me that I have severe symptoms of PTSD. I argue with him, saying that it's impossible for me to have PTSD because I was never in any combat. So I went through 6 weeks of group therapy and left the program. One day, a childhood friend of mine noticed that I had changed a lot ever since I returned from Iraq and told me about non-combat PTSD. I applied, was carefully examined by a VA doctor, and was awarded 70% compensation. HOW MANY MORE MENTALLY WOUNDED VETERANS WILL SUE TIN BE ALLOWED TO JUST DISSMISSED AND LEFT TO DIE HOMELESS ON THE STREET? SHE NEVER SERVED A DAY IN THE MIDDLE EAST. Negligent doctors who do not actually care about the quality of treatment they give to the Veteran's they prey on. Will prescribe any medication under the sun without thorough follow up or any serious conversations about treatment plans. It's like a hotel where they just give you whatever you want and thank you for your service. I believe they are profiting off of a group of people who trust them because they're told it's the right place for them to be. I understand why it's important to receive coverage for the time given for this country, but I believe those who have been to war deserve far better treatment than what this hospital can do for them as a whole. There needs to be a serious conversation about the types of medication management and the lack of follow up care. Seems like they operate based off of what the patient asks for not what the patient actually needs. I have watched the VA in Long Beach mismanage family and believe they are directly responsible for their quality of life. Yeah, it's formal now. NO ONE CARES if you call, leave voicemail, or secure messages. They are under ZERO obligation to respond to any of it. Patient advicates are never inside and in the rare moments they are they ALSO ignore communications. The White House line is useless because it's only sometimes routed to local patient advocates, and even when it is they don't do anything. They used to call to confirm they recieved the report but they stopped doing that a couple years ago. If you miss their call too bad. Sometimes even going in person accomplishes nothing because the whole facility is trained to resent and despise veterans. They even frequently ignore congressional inquiries because there is no mechanism in place to force them to abide by their own policies. I want to give a huge shout out to the Valet service at the VA in Long Beach, CA!! I left my wallet on the bench by the Valet and someone turned it in to STEVE!! I was freaking out cause I didn't know where I had left it and canceled all my cards and started making appts (DMV, SOCIAL SECURITY.etc.) I was literally in tears when I got a phone call from the office where I live!! She said a guy named "STEVE" drove all the way from Long Beach to Yorba Linda (where I live) to bring me my wallet!! I was jumping up and down!!! So happyyyyy!!!! I couldn't believe he brought me my wallet out of the kindness of his heart!! OMG!! Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty!!!!! He literally saved me!! I was sooo excited!!! My whole life was in that wallet!! I wish I could've given him more than $20.. but he was soooi nice!! He literally took a chance by driving to the address o. My drivers license!! First off, great facility very modern obviously updated in the last 12 years during the Obama Biden administrations. However, coming into this facility, there is nowhere to check in. There's nowhere for Veterans to find where they're going to their appointment. There's no checking kiosks. There's no check in desk until you're well into the building. There's no directional signs that clearly point where you're going. From the other facilities that I go to they all have either someone direct you to where you're going and they have a computer tells you where your appointments at or there is a kiosk that tells you exactly where you are going what floor what room. this facility needs an operational review to help with Veterans appointment guidance. I came to this facility accompanying a Vietnam veteran who is 79 years old and he had a very difficult time showing us where his appointment was. And there were no clear signs leading us to it and no way to find out clearly where his appointment was.. come to your appointment early at least a half hour because you will be looking for your appointment. I will be sending a report to the facility director so that we can make sure that Veterans have easy access to their appointments. Wow exceptional care was given to the loved vet in my life. I have a few but the care they offer is unsurpassed. If you are a vet you get quality care compared to that of the "healthcare system." You have professionals that care and make awesome recommendations and treatment as well. Dr. Redken the ED chief is horrible as well as PA micheal Hermanson . Rude , not helpful . These people shouldn't be in the medical field . They don't want to help vets . They make assumptions about patients without reading their charts . They disregard what my primary physician who knows me and has run all my tests vs them who've I've just met and seen at the ED. I am going to ensure that they don't do this to any other patients , the legal way . You have to advocate for yourself and the VA has mostly been great to me through my breast cancer treatment except for a few and these guys are part of the problem not the solution . read more

I am total and permanent disabled for my military service. I use a cane and a Walker to walk. I try not to use them so I can look normal. I am trying to ask my podiatrist if he could send me a medically necessary item and he states that he doesn't issue them in his department. So I guess he got mad I went to an outside provider and got real help. They don't ever want to help the issue they want to make money making sure you always come to them with your pain. read more

This VA Hospital has some really amazing practitioners and staff. But it also has some very lazy and apathetic ones. I visited the ER four months ago and the arrogant ER doctor failed to detect several aortic problems. A few days ago I returned with unbelievable chest pain and a different, amazing ER doctor ran the necessary tests, explained in detail what my diagnosis was and prescribed me painkillers pending an appointment with the vascular surgery department. While I was in the waiting area, prior to seeing this amazing doctor, I got the distinct impression that if I had keeled over dead, the likely response from half the staff would have been, "What's for lunch?" Kudos to the great practitioners here. Shame on the apathetic ones. Oh, and yes, I had to be the one who called the vascular surgery department, since they were apparently in no hurry to call me. read more

I needed a walker and wheelchair after being released from a hospital. After fighting with my insurance company about this I contacted the VA. I explained my situation and they told me they would call me back. The following day I was told that the VA in Long Beach could help me. Made an appointment and went to see them. They provided me with a top quality wheelchair and rollator and told me if there is anything else I needed to just call them and they would help me. Excellent job VA! This hospital is a joke. Out of all the VA hospitals I have ever been to, this hospital by far is never on time, and the staff is quite disrespectful. Every single time I come to the optomology clinic I am waiting over an hour for my appointment. I called them prior to making my appointment, was told that I would be seen first as I had a prior obligation an hour after my appointment time. This isn't the first time that this clinic pushes appointments back and is never on time. This is the fifth time it has happened to me and I know from speaking to other veterans that this clinic has done it with them as well. I attempted to contact patient advocacy office but they never do anything about it. I have contacted them before and still had to wait 2 hours. Its sad that as veterans we have to deal with such BS. And Angela the supervisor here is just as disrespectful. Tells you its in the order of emergency but my appointment was the first appointment and I am told I have to wait an hour. This is ridiculous. Take care of us as veterans since we took care of yall for years while you stayed here doing nothing. This will be the last time i come to this hospital. I believe contacting news outlets to have them attempt to put light on how severe the situation is here at the VA long beach. I would like to preface this by saying I am not a patient. I am, however, the daughter of a patient, and I have been bringing my father to his appointments. There is no adequate communication between staff, patients, or the caregivers of patients. My father needed an MRI on Wednesday, August 2nd. He was told to go to one department of the hospital, and when we arrived there we were told that we had to go clear to the other side of the hospital. When we asked for directions, we were helped by someone who was very friendly and already on their way to the MRI area. While I was waiting for his MRI to be finished, I sat in the waiting room. No issues. I brought my father today (8/21/2023) for a biopsy, which required him to visit the sixth floor. We went to the sixth floor and were immediately told to go to the fifth floor, which we did. My father got checked in, everything was good to go, and while the doctor that was going to work with my father said I could stay on the fifth floor and wait, the nurse said I could not, citing lack of seats and needing where we were for another patient. Completely reasonable, I didn't mind, and at the nurse's instruction I returned to the sixth floor after he took down my phone number (which he got wrong three times despite me very clearly enunciating it.) I was there for a solid ten minutes, my headphones in and waiting until my father's appointment was over, before I looked up to two women yelling at me and a security guard standing behind them. I took out my headphones, utterly bewildered, and the main woman demanded to know who I was and why I was there. In a waiting room. Um...huh? I wasn't aware that sitting in a waiting room with a mocha Frappuccino and minding my own business at nine in the morning made a me a national security threat. Was it the green ombré hair, the septum piercing, or the fact that I look (and am) Middle Eastern that made them think that, I wonder? I politely, though clearly startled, told the women and the security guard that I was instructed by the nurse on the fifth floor to wait in the sixth floor waiting room for my father. They demanded to know if my father was a patient, to which I blinked and replied "yes" because...why else would he be there? Why else would I be in a waiting room? Do people just chill at the VA hospital for fun on Mondays? They demanded to know what procedure he was getting done and I informed them, and at that point they abruptly left behind the door leading past the waiting room. I waited about an hour. The nurse never called me to let me know my father's biopsy was finished. My father had to come looking for me. Again, I'm not a patient so I can't offer much outside of being yelled at for existing in a waiting room. I can say, though, that parking is a nightmare--even with a spacious parking lot at nine in the morning on a Monday. The layout is a little confusing and no one seems to know what's going on most of the time. Equipment seems somewhat dated from what I could see, and it looked rundown from the inside. I have set foot in nicer inner city Planned Parenthoods trying to get birth control. Is this the standard of quality and respect that is offered to veterans that fought for our country? A dingy hospital with bad parking and clueless staff? Honestly, if they're willing to be that belligerent toward someone just for waiting and have such careless lack of communication toward people who are there for patients, I genuinely fear for them and have to call into question the "compassionate care" they're supposed to offer. read more

This is the newer, cleaner, more efficiently run VA medical center in the Greater LA area. Located off the 22 freeway, it has a large main hospital and many smaller structures interconnected by a labyrinth of hallways. The parking here sucks, and that is the only negative thing I have to say about this place. Now back to the positives... I've come here to get checked up, and they are friendly and more efficient than their West LA counterparts. They have me out the door in a short amount of time, and I never had to deal with an ineffective administration as I had to in West LA. Sure, there are some things that could use improvement. It is disappointing to have to post this review, but military veterans like myself and the viewing public need to be know what is going on with the VA Healthcare here in Long Beach. The below is my experience and my opinion. I am a 20+ year veteran and Commander of the United States Navy. I was a physician for an Expeditionary Warfare Unit based out of Camp Pendleton and served on tours for our country. So this review is about, Is my service and sacrifice to our citizens and this country not worth only $118.73 a week for psychological therapy in my community by the Navy and our country? As background: I was going through some tough mental issues and reached out to the VA medical services for psychological help. Since a major military hospital is not anywhere in my county, I qualified for care with the Community Care Services locally for the psychological treatment I needed with one of their approved sites. First let me say, just to get the initial "authorization" from the Long Beach VA Psychological department is dangerous and incompetent. I kid you not... it took OVER SIX (6) MONTHS to get a reply from this psychology authorization process. As a physician and now patient... this time delay from request to care in patient mental health care is completely unsafe and unacceptable. Fast forward to now... my therapist now having seen the VA Mental Health Department incompetence started the renewal process two months ahead. Again, time expired. This stress put on the patient should not be tolerated. After the expiration, I was contacted on July 29, 2024 by the VA Psychology Department Head, "Dr Vanessa Hurwitz" to call her back. She left a message to return her call and discuss my care. Dr Hurwitz also reached out to my therapist for an update on my mental health care... After over NINE (9) messages left by my therapist to Dr Hurwitz, NOT ONE message was returned in over a month span. As we all know, abandonment is an incredibly dangerous in mental health care. In fact, to this day with this review... we have still never had a single return call from the VA doctor making decisions on my care. What type of psychological Veteran health care would accept this as appropriate? To make matters worse for the VA, Dr Vanessa Hurwitz then made a treatment decision for next month to cancel and cut off my care with my individual mental health provider to save the department money . Again, done without once ever talking to me the patient or the treating therapist. What competent medical professional makes decisions without speaking with the patient or assigned specialist provider? I begin to wonder is this a malpractice action. My question to the VA is, I did my part, when I was asked to serve, I dropped my life, medical practice and family and left to serve my country. As a veteran military service member, I am looking for the VA to now do their part and they are nowhere to be found. I wonder does the department director regularly set up telephone appointments for consultation and then just blow them off and make life decision for a patient by ignoring them as standard care? Any person knows that psychological issues take time, and that good mental health care shouldn't be rushed. Dr Hurwitz now is demanding that I am to begin driving to a different COUNTY on more than one freeway, with inflexible times and dates, and expose my privacy to a group of strangers? T That is their idea of healthy mental care? Only a VA department that cares more about money than patient care would ever see this as appropriate. I think it is clear from reading this, the Long Beach VA Psychology Department patient care and leadership in my experience is a substandard and only concerned about the financial bottom line department and not the member's post war mental health care. Again, I did my job. I left my kids, my wife, my job and my life to serve. Is my 20+ years of service and sacrifice to our citizens and this country not worth a measly $118.73 a week for psychological therapy in my community by the Navy and our country?. read more

Same trash as they have always been. Was approved for dental care because I am 100% disabled. Dr. Lee is the supervisor and Annie is my contact. After a complete inspection I was sent for a root canal . Very good dentists. After the root canal I was told to do a follow up within seven days. Because Annie will not answer the phone, nor return calls when a message is left, and Dr.Lee is nowhere to be found, I have now waited ten months for permission to do a seven day follow up. I believe these people care o ly for a paycheck but could not care less about the veteran. SAME TRASH AS ALWAYS. read more

This review is based on their Sleep Center. They are the nicest bunch of people, that Sleep Center group! Big Bro (retired US Army) for whatever reason, misplaced the power cord for his CPAP unit. Replacing it is not a problem, really, except he's in California and his main VA Hospital is at another state! Easy. Call the nearest VA Sleep Center and get a replacement. But then he was told that the unit he has is obsolete. So, imagine this: if he asked to provide him with the newest model, they would need him to register at that hospital, contact his primary doctor, get approvals, fill out forms, blah-blah... and that it would take days if not at least a week or two. (UNDERSTAND: He NEEDS this thing as it is detrimental to his health without it.) Then he was asked to hold for a couple of minutes because the (who I'm assuming was the) nurse or a tech said she'd look at their storage in hopes they still have that same exact one he has. SCORE - they did. Told us to come pick it up anytime. We bomb rushed through the 405 semi-traffic and got there in no time. Big Bro brought his unit with him. Got to the 11th floor and... "Can I help you?" So, he explains his situation. 2 seconds later, they produced the power cord. What made the whole run even better was that they refused to let us leave without testing the unit first. (Yeah, it worked perfectly.) I'm delighted to say that my first experience at a VA hospital was an amazing one. Kudos, Sleep Center peeps! You truly are lifesavers! read more

A day after posting my review, Dr. Melamed magically had three next-day appointments for my dad. He went this morning only to be told that muscle spasms aren't a symptom of MS (ON WHAT PLANET??) and that they must be caused by some other NEUROLOGICAL issue that he needs to resolve with his primary doctor, so she's going to refer him back to his primary?? Even though she's the neurologist? And she's refusing community care because they like to "resolve things in-house"... well let me tell you something, you're not off to a very good start resolving anything! We've already begun the process with a lawyer who thinks we've got a good case, but that's not going to turn back the clock or get my dad's community care application approved any sooner. I hope she can't sleep at night, treating one of our nations heroes this way! What a phony! read more

The radiation department aT Long Beach is professional, and they did a great job during my five weeks of radiation and chemo. However, as with Loma Linda the VA system, a small percentage of VA employees don't appreciate working for the VA and are rude and indifferent at times. Compassion fatigue is a real thing, and half the VA employees probably have some type of compassion fatigue and that's understandable. However, fake the funk! If they don't treat you with respect take their employee ID number and turn them in. This goes for telephonic calls as well - some VA employees didn't pay attention when it comes to dealing with veterans with PTSD and I would say 40% of the VA has PTSD? Either way, if a VA employee is rude or didn't do their job. Turn them in so we can clean up our VATERAN ADMINISTRATION. THE VA WORKS FOR VETERANS! DON'T FORGET THAT! read more

I come with tons of patiences and understanding, i try to always use Myhealthyvet.gov to send secure messages to Primary care. Once I do its usually a fast response and tons of answers. They make the appointments and referrals anytime we need it. Yes be patient getting uptiy at the workers and volunteers does nothing. They are doing the best they can with The staff and volunteers they have. The volunteers are the best always ready and willing to point us in the right direction. Waybetter then west L.A. We always park at the basebal field, way faster then waiting in the front lots to "hopefully' fi d a spot. Good luck and Live long and prosper. read more

If I could give 0 starts I would. Lack of communication from Surgeon and poor coordination of care for discharge. This hospital does not provide individualized care. I My father in law had surgery on Friday 7/22/22 at LBVA for carotid endarterectomy. Surgery was delayed - we never got informed of delay- waited for hrs for a phone call from surgeon. Finally called hospital only to find out he was delayed 4 hrs. After surgery, we did not receive a phone call from the Vascular surgeon to let us know how everything went. We were totally in the dark. Only info we got was from the PACU RN and ICU nurse who received my FIL Friday night. My FILA was told he was only staying for 1 night and would be discharged the next day. He had BP issues, and required close monitoring, therefor stayed another night. I get a call Sunday afternoon to inform me he was being discharged from the ICU. I felt it was too soon considering he was on a IV med to stabilize his BP the night before. I tried to advocate for him to at least be downgraded to DOU or med surge to make sure he didn't have any more BP issues and was stable to go home. I was reassured by the Vascular Surgeon that everything was fine and there was no indication to keep him for another day. I feel like the focus was on his vitals and surgical site. They did not even get my FIL up to assess whether or not he was able to walk independently at home. My FIL barely made it from my car into my house with two people holding him up. He was dizzy, light headed and both legs gave up on him. 4 hrs later, he fell in the bathroom because he was too weak. This is with my husband int he bathroom helping him. I am disgusted of the lack of care and compassion that LBVA has for their patients. you need to look at their overall status and make sure your patients are being discharged safely. No order for home health, or PT, no walker or commode. NOTHING was set up. Why? Because they never assessed his ability to walk. He was independent and able to walk on his own with a cane before surgery. We were left to deal with the safety issues at home. Called nurse advise line and all they could do for me was take a message and page the primary care Dr the next day. I will never bring my family to the VA for any type of treatment or care. I will make sure to include all this in his patient survey. The public should know what type of hospital they are trusting their lives with. read more

The Long Beach VAMC is the absolute worse healthcare for Veterans. In fact the VA has paired up with DHS and the FBI to prevent Veteran suicides. The fact of the matter is that all three of these agencies are provoking Veterans to commit suicide. In my case the the Long Beach VAMC has blatantly with malicious intent violated its fiduciary and discretionary duties and responsibilities by purposely withholding information of a federal program that I need to restore my driving privileges. Also withholding medical test and care for prolonged illnesses. Resistance to the needs of veterans by denying appointments or scheduling appointments months out in violation of the MISSION ACT. For 24 months the VA withheld a program called Disabled Veteran Drivers Rehabilitation Program. The VA states it is a healing program to help give back Veteran's independence. Long Beach CA VAMC has been actively partnering with the California Department of Motor Vehicles since the programs inception in 1974. Long Beach CA VAMC is the lead and managing VAMC of VISM 22 which is a group of Veteran Administration m MVAMC's in the Southwest of the US. This is the failed and abusive healthcare practices of the VA. Once I discovered this program the VA added their malicious campaign by moving the program offices to the COVID quarantine building and shut down the program. I then requested that my rights to go outside the VA as per Trump's Mission Act and was denied. The VA stated that it was concerned for my health during COVID. The VA concerned for my health by forcing me to utilize public transportation which is rife with disease. Improper sanitation or total neglect of sanitation of public transportation and bus stops. At the same time I had lost 35 pounds unexpectedly and was suffering from an ailment that the VA neglected to investigate. I was close to death from Intestinal infection. Blood work indicated my potassium was dangerously low and badly dehydrated. Trips to the Long Beach CA emergency room and Primary Care Physicians did not proceed in an ethical manner. Denied much needed IV to rehydrate and no additional lab work. It was not until I visited family in Nashville TN that I was actually cared for properly at the Nashville VAMC. Proper medical intervention by means of lab work and proper medication was prescribed as well as IVs. The GI specialists in Nashville VA stated that they were dismayed that Long Beach VAMC doctors virtually sat on their hands and did nothing to help me. The Veteran's Administration does not advocate for Veterans, the VA advocates for the VA. That is rule number one. The Inspector General does nothing and admits that fact. All complaints about the VA are distributed to the same VA departments that the complaint was filed against. Once the complainant name is discovered the VA personnel then initiate a smear campaign to assassinate the Veteran's Character. Then the discrimination and harassment. Medical diagnosis are ignored or fabricated. VA personnel invent new policies and rules to inflict as much harm as possible to the Veteran. It is all about control. As an example the VA encourages Veterans to seek mental health medical care for Veteran's experiences while serving our country. This the biggest mistake a Veteran can make with the VA. Once a mental issue is diagnosed the VA Psychiatrists will fabricate false mental disorders to punish Veterans and then prescribe drugs that often lead to suicide. The VA destroys Veterans lives intentionally. Once purposely misdiagnosed for malicious intent to suspending driving and firearm privileges. Never state you are being followed or stalked. You will be declared mentally I'll even though the VA contracts private investigators to follow and perform surveillance on Veterans that the VA suspects are committing disability fraud. The pot calling the kettle black. Long Beach VA is a nightmare for many Veterans. Question or file a complaint and you will be Blacklisted. Treated as a whistle blower but without protections. VA employees harass and even stalk those veterans Blacklisted. The Long Beach VA does not advocate for veterans because it only advocates for VA employees. You do not have health equity. Employees are always stating policy and rules while violating federal laws like HIPPA and American with Disabilities Act of 2008. It is time for the Federal government to contract Veteran Healthcare to private and public healthcare companies. I started coming here for the Dermatology clinic, where they basically saved my life, removing a tumor on my face. I'm really impressed with my PA, Melani Reyes of Charlie 1 team, and her professional manner and skills. I always feel she listens to me personally, and she always asks if there is more she can do for me. She let me know I have Adult Onset diabetes and has been working with me and my Nutritionist giving me great information on how to maintain control over it with healthy eating, therapeutic movement and wellness behaviors. Dermatology has been keeping up with addressing my skin cancer and I definitely feel blessed to be under their care. I've also been to Optometry and Imaging and use the Pharmacy. I'm completely delighted with everyone I come in contact with and the wonderful care I'm given at an affordable cost. My appointments are convenient and my wait time is very short. As a Navy Corpsman still working in Physical Therapy, this is the standard I was trained to give to others and it's great to see the tradition continues. The good doctors either leave or maybe fired because it's "costing" them too much money. Which shouldn't be the case since they charge my insurance anyways. I've been bouncing around different PCP since my second (and longest PCP) left. I had her for several years and she really did care and took my concerns seriously. Or even my lack of concern. One of the PCP's they assigned me blamed me for him not knowing why I have an appointment with him specially since I told his nurse what it was for. Supposedly called me and left a message, no message (which is the norm). Also told me not to utilize community care unless I can't be seen within a year! So he's telling me to wait a year to be seen?! The current PCP I have I've only seen once. Never went back. Before I saw her, I asked the nurse for a sore blood draw which they said I didn't need. When my Neurologist told me to go get a referral for dermatology to get some moles checked, the new PCP said, let me see them! She said, they look fine, you don't need a referral. When I found out the clinic has acupuncture and chiropractor services on site, I asked for a referral (I was being seen via community care). She said I can only have one and not both, so I asked for acupuncture. She never did put in the referral. I messaged them about a referral to cardio (I was seen before for some testing and was told there are more test that can be done which I was now hoping to get done due to some chest pains). I was told come see her but they don't have any openings. When I asked again since I was having more chest pains, I didn't get anything back until a month later because she was out on vacation. The reply? Go to the ER if I need to. The Pharmacy takes a lifetime to get the medication that you need when your doctor prescribes them. read more

So they sent me a monitor that I was to keep on and recording 24/7 for 14 days. A pain in the ass if it weren't attached to my chest. That was late July and I finally got my appointment with the VA cardiologist Nov 9 to review the results. Timely? Um, no. I was given a "clean bill of (cardiac) health" and informed that they would schedule me for an echocardiogram in about 3 months to baseline my heart to the VA's satisfaction. 3 months. If I live that long, I'll go. Two days after this visit on the 9th, I was called by the VA who (miraculously?) found time to give me the test this Friday, the 13th. Today, I'll call it a Happy Veteran's Day present just for shits 'n grins. So, are they getting better? Somehow they whittled 3 months down to two days for a major test but is it to be expected? You'll die before expectations this grand are routine. But for me, it was an improvement and I owe them that much, an update to state that things might be getting better. Then again, I also thought flying would improve and I'd be vacationing on Mars by now. Still, I thrive on optimism. If they can improve the time-lag to treatment, they might be able to improve the rest of the mess. ------ #13. So what's in a number? Finalizing my visit with the cardiologist, I asked if he was superstitious, he said no. I asked if he believed in coincidence, yes, he did. So I told him that my twin brother had died this day, exactly 13 years ago, heart-attack. Then my echo (heart test) was scheduled this Friday...the 13th. Cosmic irony? Coincidence?
