Wow, just wow! Had limited expectations going in. Had found a Groupon for a Neuropathy pedicure. Made the appointment via text as requested and received several text messages back with information and instructions. I wondered why things seemed to be to the letter of the law and wondered if it was because of Covid or if it was always this way. Oh well, had to schedule the appointment about 6 weeks from the day I purchased the Groupon. The day came where I was scheduled for my appointment. Virginia texted me the day before to make sure I was still coming and to confirm my appointment. I left plenty early, but due to an accident I got delayed. I immediately messaged Virginia to let her know my ETA and she appreciated that. Upon arrival, I texted her to let her know I had arrived and she came out to greet me. Showed me around and took me back to her area of the salon for the neuropathy pedicure. She explained every step of the way and it was 90 minutes of heaven. Between the back and shoulder massage, to the foot and leg massages, it was wonderful. My feet felt so soft and well cared for. She did advise me of areas when trimming my toe nails to be careful and advised me of when I should come in next and roughly how often. These are things a guy doesn't typically think of. Well worth the Groupon and I will definitely be back. I will also take better care of my own feet. Anyway, I highly recommend, as this is a great place and Virginia knows what she is doing both with a regular pedicure and one where the client has diabetes and is dealing with neuropathy. I bought a Specialicious deal for a facial after reading such wonderful reviews. I've only gotten facials at Elizabeth Arden so I came here with high expectations. Scheduling appointment was easy and the lady I spoke to on the phone was very accommodating and sweet and made sure my friend and I could come in at the same time. However, the facial itself was a disappointment. The 'pressure' for the facial and even the massage was so light that I could barely feel it. I understand the facial part but the way cream and scrubs were applied on my face just seemed my technician was a beginner. At times, I thought she was slowly and carefully painting a blank canvas (aka my face). There was no swift application that I'm usually used to experiencing for facials. No Virginia I told you that I saw your salon on Groupon I told you that I was interested in the 75 minute ruby pedicure described on your Groupon. You told me that you could not honor a Groupon deal but you would be able to take me at full price. (it did make your Groupon seem like a gimmick, seriously what's the difference time wise I mean you own the salon). I had no problem paying regular price since I had not purchased a Groupon only seen your salon and pedicure description on Groupon. When you tried to sell me a 75 min massage during a 60 minute time slot I had a problem with that!! I'm fairly certain everybody would. I have to say your Groupon deal is fabulous but when it's mention to you you can't schedule a Groupon deal for weeks into the future. What good is that? Honestly is it ever good? Then your rude reply when I asked you how you were going to be able to perform a 75 minute service in 60 minutes you got very rude and unprofessional. P.s. I do not want a dirty machine so using the 15 minutes that it normally takes you to clean and disinfect facility before taking me is a disgusting alternative!! In other reviews I have seen you blast people who don't agree with you. I also saw the review from the lady who said you called her questioning why she didn't tip more. So glad I found this little gem. Making an appointment was very easy- I called and they must have been busy but the voicemail directs appointment request to be made via text or email and so I texted the owner! She was responsive And accommodated my schedule and gave me options of availability for the day I was thinking about. Virginia then promptly emailed me the directions and other information leading up to my appointment. Upon entering, Virginia noticed that it was my first time so she gave me a tour of her sanctuary. It was beautiful. My service was for a Ruby pedicure and it's so worth it. She started by soaking my feet for a few minutes while she prepared my drink of choice. Then the massage started. The scrub she used smelled so good as she directed me to relax and enjoy the foot massage. I think I actually fell asleep at some point because it was so relaxing. She did not rush at all thru the 75 minutes and shared her story with me and why she loves her work. Pedicure came out beautiful and I know time will tell that the paint stays for weeks! absolutely return and recommend!! read more

It was the best pedicure EVER!!! The Spa is beautifully decorated and has a very serene feeling to it. The pedicure was just heaven! Virginia seemed to pay attention to all details and her leg massage was fabulous! Booking was easy and the owner takes great pride in her spa. It was very clean... Not only did we PAY for a 90 minute massage and we ONLY got a 70 min massage BUT the massages were soooooo painful..... I had Patty....and she was SOOOO PAINFUL....I have had 6 back surgeries....and I kept telling her to be"easy" & instead of being "easy" she would "LAUGH"....and continue being rough..... JeannIe was doing my husbands massage and said that she was OKAY....he said she ALMOST brought him to tears a COUPLE times... Patty had me flying off that table SEVERAL times... But that's not the REAL ISSUE... The REAL issue is THIS... The OWNER...she's. A NIGHTMARE....Virginia is the WORST person I have EVER dealt with...instead of dealing with the issues of 1) NOT guaranteeing you get your FULL 90 min massage time, 2) the massage was comfortable and 3) being a PROFESSIONAL, NICE, RESPECTFUL person, she's ALL about making a "quick buck"....that's ALL she's worried about.... After having convinced me I had won the day of beauty as a raffle prize, I was more than excited. Secretly the staff at VA Spa & Salon were in on the entire thing, but everyone went along with the bit simply for my sake. Every service I had here was fantastic - a Swedish massage, an amazing manicure/pedicure in the "magic chair," a blowout and up do, and makeup. While I was there, they were also in the midst of expansions - dance, yoga - which I have no doubt will also be fantastic. I picked up this Living Social deal for a 65 min Elizabeth Taylor Pedicure. I must say, this has been by far one of the best and most pampered one i have had :) This is such a cute place, beautifully done up. I enter a small lounge with a TV playing "The Roman Holiday" for me :) And here comes lovable Virginia, making me some warm mint tea, takes me on a small tour around the salon and the spa area :) The "smell, touch and sound" were perfect, with the magical pedicure chair, the scrub and her massage! Virginia also advised me on the amount of callus work that my heels needed. I must say that this was quality work. I enjoyed every bit of her massage, but what impressed me more was the end result. I left happy :) I am so coming back to this place for my next pedi :) Thank you Virginia for adding your personal touch to the whole experience! It is pricey, but trust me, its worth every penny! This experience was true oasis of good tea and good conversation. Virginia was amazing. She attentive and gentle on my feet. She had me laughing the entire time and you would have thought we had known each other for years. The spa was very clean and welcoming. The massage was so relaxing after a hard days work. They offer tea and other refreshments. The light is a little dim to create a relaxing environment and the music is pretty light on the ears as well. Another plus is there is no chemical smell. I have been to many nail salons and you are lined up and the service provider is rushing to get to the next customer. At Va Salon and Spa every customer is treated as if you are all that matter. NO CHEMICAL SMELL: Most hair salons use chemicals that trigger my asthma and allergies. But not here! I don't notice any chemical odor in this salon. They use some kind of natural, non-smelling, non-irritating color. My friend who referred me tells me the color doesn't burn her scalp, either. (I can't personally speak to that since I no longer color my hair.) GREAT HAIRCUT: Allison cuts my hair and she does a fantastic job! She's very nice and and I really appreciate the care she takes with my haircut. It always turns out great. I just got an amazing haircut from Sofia here. They have coffee, tea and water to sip on while you wait. She gave me a great consultation and really picked up on my wants and needs. I'm a new mom so I wanted a cut that would still be long, but would work with my natural wave. She explained her plan for how to achieve it in good detail and made sure I was ok with the amount she would cut off. She gave me a great shampoo and used a product to soothe my dry scalp. It felt so nice I ended up buying it, something I don't usually do. We had a nice conversation while she worked and it made the time go by quickly. The cut turned out better than I imagined. After months of ponytails and buns I can't wait to wear my hair down and feel beautiful again. I plan on using Sofia for a long time to come. read more

Sunny and Patty were awesome, and Virginia was super sweet and came and introduced herself to the whole group. They let us set up shop with some champagne and snacks since we were there for half a day just relaxing and being pampered. I highly recommend this place and their prices for massages/facials are very reasonable. It's also super convenient that right downstairs is a cafe and bakery and then just two blocks up the street is a strip of "old town" cafe's and restaurants, perfect for a massage and Brunch! read more

So here's the deal. Cons: It's a bit of a painful process to book an appointment but here is the reason-the lady you're booking with is alone (in that she is only one working). So it's like this involved call and book ages in advance process, a long book of policies and procedures, and I'm a spur of the moment pedicure person. Pros: That said, the place is very nice and you can tell she is proud of her business (she is the owner). She doesn't talk much during the pedicure and she does a nice job-my pedicure last 3 weeks without a chip. She also seems to maintain a very clean facility, which I was appreciative be for. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this establishment. My husband initially bought me a living social deal for a pedicure, which went way beyond your average pedicure. The experience begins with some tea in the cute little sitting area. You are then taken to a private spa area (depending on your package) and are treated to a very pampering massage and foot soak. Virginia even takes the time to test out several colors on you if you can't choose a polish and is really great about making recommendations. After this experience, my husband bought me a spa package with prenatal massage when I was in my third trimester. My baby came a few weeks early (to my surprise) just days before my spa appointment and the staff were very helpful in getting me re-booked for a post baby massage once I was able to get away for a few hours of much needed R and R. This place is so much better than your average strip mall chain spa/salon. And it gave me an excuse to check out the cute little town of Clifton! read more

Because of that, the owner would not let my sister use the Groupon and was extremely rude and unprofessional. She even told my sister to give the Groupon to someone else. My sister did not want to give it to someone else because 1. It was a gift! and 2. Why would my sister support this business after how poorly and unprofessionally they treated her? I went for a 75 minute pedicure which was amazing from beginning to end. I arrived early to my appointment and was seated for a couple minutes until Virginia greeted me and introduced herself. She politely showed me the Spa and explained what each room was for and the services they offered. After the tour I was seated in the Marylin Monroe room. The room was very clean, organized and the environment was so relaxing! Virginia did an amazing job with my pedi, her massage relaxed me so much I was literally in and out of sleep. She was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable the whole time. I was a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding party and we went there the morning of the wedding for hair and make-up. They were all very nice and the space is very nice and warm. The hair was fine but DO NOT pay to get your make-up done there. It is the worst make-up and then a waste of time because you have to go home, take it off, and redo your make-up yourself. The woman there (the owner) is NOT a certified make-up artist. She does only dark, dark smoky eyes (not well) or she puts on almost nothing. She uses terrible, very cheap make-up and doesn't use primer for eyes or basically anything to keep your make-up on through the day. They were putting on eye make-up BEFORE foundation and it just looked awful, all of it. Thankfully the bride was able to get her make-up redone and the rest of us just did our make-up ourselves but what a waste of time and money. They shouldn't even advertise that they do make-up. read more

Bought a package deal for a facial, pedi and mani, and expected a relaxing couple of hours....instead I got totally pampered for 4 HOURS! It was awesome! The facial was fabulous and used all natural products that smelled good enough to eat. My skin looked great afterward and Virginia gave me a lot of great advice I can use to keep my skin looking good and for helping my hair to improve and regrow (I have very thin hair). Loved the atmosphere, the calming music, the relaxed pace, and the conversation. It was a long drive to get there, but I plan to return! Well worth the money! read more

My daughter and I were looking to have a fun day together, and found this spa online. It's a bit pricey so we opted for just a pedicure and massage. If you are looking for a traditinal spa layout, this isn't it. It's housed in an old building, upstairs, and is accessed through a hallway that has other businesses in it. So you check in in one spot, and walk down a hallway past a real estate office, a photographer, etc., to get to the massage room. Different. We were asked to change into robes in the facial room, so I guess they don't have a dressing room or locker. My daugher is plus size - not unusually so - and it was a surprise to find they did not have a robe that comfortably fit her. They suggested she supplement with a wrap, which was also sized for a small woman. The robe was extremely thick which is uncomfortable in rooms that aren't especially well air conditioned. Only one chair in the pedicure room so we could not enjoy getting pedicures together. I went first and Virginia mentioned something initially about 'educating' me. She then turned on loud show tunes type music and did a very nice job of cleaning up my nails and massaging my calves and feet - very nice but not unusual. At the end of this she turned on the light to show me a white spot on my nail and explain what this was and why it was a problem. She brushed something on my nails thats dehydrated them and made the white spot more prominent. She explained in great detail what was wrong and why it was wrong. She then launched into a monologue about her mother who was involved in the raw food movement in the 60's, how that made her interested in health and wellness, what my doctor would say if I went to him with this nail problem, how there are different kinds of vitamins, how vitamins my doctor recommends are manufactured by pharmaceutical companies and loaded with chemicals, and how she sells natural vitamins there ... At this point, way too long into this whole thing, I got up and left the room, telling Virginia that I was only interested in a pedicure, not all this other stuff.. Before I left, I was changed full price for the pedicure - $50.. I did not object as at that point, I was only interested in getting out of there as quickly as possible. If Virginia wanted to let me know I had a nail problem and needed to go to my doctor, that would have been appreciated. Had I wanted to listen to a discussion of raw food, vitamins, and traditional versus natural medicine, I would have scheduled a different type of day. And if I wanted to buy natural vitamins, I wouldn't have driven to Clifton, VA to find them. read more

This place is amazing! When I first walked in, I was immediately greeted and escorted to a beautiful waiting room where I was then asked if I wanted water or tea. They had Gone with the Wind playing on the television and I was immediately relaxed. It didn't take long for Nicole to escort me to the massage room which, like most massage places, had a relaxing ambiance. Nicole was AMAZING! I told her I played piano and she paid close attention to the areas that may effect my piano playing, especially my shoulder (which is why I went to get the massage in the first place). After the wonderful massage was done, I asked if there was any chance I can get my eyebrows done. Even though it was past closing, Virginia (the sweet and amazing owner) immediately smiled and told her that it wouldn't be a problem. She was so sweet and knowledgeable, and I found myself just feeling so relaxed and comfortable. I hate getting my eyebrows waxed because I have incredibly low pain tolerance, but she made it so it didn't really hurt. I've never seen my eyebrows look this great! She explained everything that she did and told me how to take care of them. I didn't want to leave the place! I was seriously contemplating just sticking around and helping her fold towels while watching Gone with the Wind! I highly recommend this place if you want to be pampered in a comfortable and relaxing environment by a team who goes above and beyond what they need to do. read more

I was at VA Spa and Salon yesterday for a pedicure with Virginia. It was truly an experience. I thought we would chat but from the moment I was in the chair I was pampered and totally relaxed. The chair was very comfortable and Virginia is very professional and very smart. I closed my eyes as my legs and feet were scrubbed and massaged for 25 minutes. I stand most of the time for my work and this pedicure was more than clipping and painting toenails. The salon is about a 45 minute drive for me and it is unusual, due to the historic building they're housed in, but the ambiance and the staff are wonderful. The location was beautiful and eclectic. I won a gift certificate for a manicure, pedicure, and facial when I visited the Renew You Spa Expo in June 2012. With an extremely busy work and school schedule, it took me a long to use the gift certificate. I definitely should have come here sooner. During the services, Virginia educated me on taking care of my skin and the use of organic products. The spa was well stocked with protein shakes, vitamins, skin care products, and essential oils.
