I had booked an appointment online for a 60 minutes massage. The day came and I really wanted to like this place. My experience was bad as soon as I walked in and it only got worse from there. It was my first time at this establishment. I walked in and the lady at the front desk was on her phone. I stood at the counter until she acknowledged me. I told her I had an appointment. She pointed at the menu and asked what I wanted. I stated what I requested when I made my appointment. She then walks me to a room and shuts the door as soon as I get inside. Not a peep about what she wanted me to do, what to do with my belongings, nothing. She comes back 5 minutes later and asked me why my clothes weren't off yet?? So then she gives me two more minutes to undress and lay down. She comes back and starts massaging me over the sheet I had covered myself with, elbow straight into my back. I asked her to lessen the pressure, which I think she tried but it was still painful. Eventually, she starts using massage lotion and as another reviewer had said, basically slathers it, drenched my body in it. This ridiculous massage goes on and the entire time I'm regretting coming here. The best part of my experience was the end when the massage was over. I have been to many massage establishments and this has got to be the worst. The customer service is nonexistent. The ambience is terrible. I heard entire conversations in the hallway while I was trying to relax. There was no consult before the massage asking about my concerns or areas I wanted to be focused on. As for massage techniques, I'm very surprised my masseuse was certified. I've gotten better massages from uncertified people. I haven't gotten a massage in many years. I was going to massage envy with my wife about every-other-month for a few years until they ripped us off (another story for another time), and we hadn't had a chance to find somewhere to get massages. They're more her thing than mine, and she's notoriously difficult to please. We get to the place, and the lady at the front was polite. We selected the basic 60 minute couples massage ($120) and are taken to a room. My wife leaves to pee, because her bladder is the size of a golf ball and comes back informing me of the clean bathrooms. We sit there and wait for the masseuses to come back, and they make sure we want a couples massage in the same room rather than in different rooms (my wife looks about twenty years younger than I do, and we weren't wearing our wedding rings, so I'm thinking this was to ensure her comfort and safety). We say we want to be in the same room, and we strip down to our underwear (we are modest) and wait. What transpired over the next hour was the best massage I've ever had in my life. Everything is optional essentially. She asked me how deep I wanted my massage, and I asked for as hard as possible. There are poles they can hang onto above the massage table, and she asked if I wanted her to walk on me... of course I said yes. I've never had that before. It was incredible. It started with a massage of my back over the sheet then she was doing the standing massage of my back and legs. Then she got down and gave a standard deep massage with massage oil. She basically got every muscle on my body. Then I flipped over, and she spent a good amount of time on my face and neck. The massage wound down with my arms and hands then my legs and feet. When it was over I looked at my wife and asked her what she thought. She immediately said it was the best massage of her life. Looks like we will be going back. Might get 2 hours next time. All I wanted to know was, how was my card charged for a service when I only went to this location ONCE while visiting my sister back in May?? I've been back in Cali for months now. Not only that but she sounded and came off as if she was bothered by me asking about MY money. Come on now!!!! Wish I had a better thing to say my first time here.. We are regular massage users and came from Vegas in August. I bought a Thai massage certificate for my husband and me for our anniversary a few weeks back. I called and booked it the day before and when I showed up the lady immediately told me I owed 20$ more for Thai massage. (the certificate already said Thai massage for a couple on it which cost 190$) The massage was ok but I was burned on my back with the stones,,I have a painful burn from yesterday still when I touch my back. I have had Thai massages at least a dozen times too but not here. I will make this short..when the massage was over I pondered on why they never stepped on our backs using the poles above. We got dressed and tipped the 2 people doing the massage and then paid the extra 20$ and I asked the front desk why they never stepped on our backs and she said "YOU NEVER ASKED" Why did I pay the extra 20$!!! SMH I feel like I was taken advantage of.. She knew this was our first time too : { Oh well there are many other places to discover using our money.. We (my wife and I) decided to give this place a try. We made an appointment in advance as we were in no hurry. We had a couples massage, I got a very good massage & my wife too. My massuse walked on my back. That was awesome. She was standing on my shoulders and just slid all the way down to my legs. We both got exactly what were needing. UPDATE: In response to the owner. I am not a teenager, but thank you for complimenting my youthful appearance. I am in my 20s and get massages about once a week, and I have never had this problem. I do not have any sores or boils on my back. I do have a small mole that is flush with my skin, which is pretty common. I have never been clawed at during a massage, so it has never bled before. As you've already elaborated on, my shirt was on because this was a foot massage, but it is normal for 60 min foot massages to come with some back rubbing as well. The massage therapist had her hands inside of my shirt (again not unusual) so she could massage my back. She was not massaging my back over a towel or it would have been impossible for her to cut me with her fingernails. What is unusual is that she was massaging by digging her nails into me to the point that she cut me and I started bleeding. The women did not speak much English so she went and told the woman at the front desk while I asked my mother to look at my back because the massage therapist hurt me and I thought I was bleeding. I was in fact bleeding through my shirt. Your receptionist came and gave me a band aid. As I already said, she is a very nice woman and one of the reasons why I wanted to like this place so much. As far as the foot massage, it was okay. I didn't want to highlight that the foot massage wasn't the best in the review because that wasn't my main complaint. If anyone is curious I would probably rate the foot massage a 2.5, not awful but not very good either. We aren't bad tippers and we pay in cash so we set aside the cost of the massage + 20+% before even going into the establishment. The tip was not a reflection of the service, but of who we are as people. Based on the response from the owner trying to blame me and making false claims instead of owning up to their mistake, I wish Yelp would let me give 0 stars. My mother and myself are shocked and appalled by the response from the owner. It is factually inaccurate and there was no personal contact to confirm the facts, outside of the owner confirming the appointment time. I understand that he only knows what his employees tell him, but I think it is negligent for him to post his comment without attempts to confer with both sides. The original review was meant to warn people of one unsatisfactory therapist and experience. However, after experiencing this unprofessional response I would highly encourage people to avoid the business as a whole. The woman who did my massage has a "technique" of digging her nails into your skin, so hard in fact that she cut my back with her nails. It felt awful & she left me bleeding through my shirt. She still charged me full price and told me to go home and wash my shirt/the wound though! This was 100% the worst massage I ever had and I will not be back. I wanted to like this place so bad because it has such a nice ambiance, is very clean, and the woman who checked me in was so nice, but who would think digging your nails into someone is a massage? I've needed a massage for a while now and so this morning I returned to the one I preferred most- to my surprise it was closed. I happened to drive by this place and popped in. OMG I had the best massage. The place was clean and seemed nice when I walked in. They got me in right away. The towels were soft. The lady was amazing!!! None of that rubbing with a flat hand like my four year old can do. She got on the table, she paid extra attention to my tension, and the pressure was perfection. Then it got even better, she used paragon wax on my feet, hot stones on my back and neck, and hot towels. I paid $45 for this amazing 70 minutes of heaven.
