SINGLE TRAVELERS BEWARE! Vacations to Go touts itself a last minute, discount booking agent for your cruise experience. First, the discounts are almost nonexistent. I would highly recommend booking directly with your cruise line as the company, Norwegian in my instance, can't communicate with me directly as I used Vacations to Go (all communications must go through the travel agent). This is my first cruise experience and I have discovered the Cruise experience is NOT for single travelers. You are not informed when purchasing, "enhanced," packages (upgraded beverage, internet and specialty dining) that Specialty Dining is tailored for two or more travelers and the single traveler has to fend for themselves with regard to reservations once shipboard. Additionally, keep in mind when booking, MANY shore excursions are also tailored for even numbered travelers. I booked a much-anticipated helicopter excursion 6 weeks in advance of the cruise only to be told three weeks later there were no seats available. When you book you are told you will receive an e-ticket within 3 days . . . mine never arrived. After some internet research I discovered the more coveted excursions are slated to accommodate an even number of passengers. I called Vacations to Go and spoke with a supervisor to ask if anything could be done to enhance the cruise experience due to the gap caused by being a single traveler and was told absolutely nothing could be done. Further, the supervisor at Vacations to Go, who stated she had considerable experience indicated she had never been faced with the "single traveler," dilemma; yet, when she placed me on hold and contacted Norwegian Cruise Lines she was told my obstacles were common for single travelers by customer service at Norwegian. Will I cruise again? We will find out after my April 15th Alaskan cruise. Will I ever use Vacations to Go . . . never. I called late , almost at the end of the business hours on Friday Jan 19 to get a final price on a 16 d cruise w Norwegian company . The agent Cesalie Watler said it was $950 + tax . The advertised price I had was $599 + tax & I told her I can email her the price I had on an email from them . After being placed on hold she said ,,oh , I found it , it is $599 ". I asked to get an email w the total price which I did . Saturday I emailed her asking to book it . She emailed me right away and asked me to provide our names & DOB & she would place the cabin on hold & call me next day to finalize the booking . On her Saturday email to me she had her phone number and office hours for Saturday listed 11AM TO 8 PM . I did not hear from her next day so I left a voice message & sent an Email . Still nothing . Monday I left another voicemail without any response. I spoke w supervisor Abby who said would investigate and her attitude was like ,, things happen ! Also informed me that the cruise was sold out ! I was promised that Cesalie will call me w an explanation to what happened. Never called me ! I emailed my complaint to Cesalie's manager Beltran Abordo who sent me an email claiming he tried to call me & leave a voice mail twice but was not able to go thru . I had absolutely no missed calls or messages and my phone worked just fine . He tried to convince me that Cesalie did not book the cruise or contact me because she was not in the office Saturday . He forgot she emailed me Saturday & did not think I noticed her office ours listed . Had no explanation why she did not call Monday either ! Did not take any responsibility for mishandling this situation . Tried to imply that was my fault . Ang guess what? He said now they have the cruise available at $950 ! How convenient ! I think that Cesalie was told not to book this cruise at the lower price & just not call me back . They hoped I would take the cruise with the increased rate . Dishonest , deceiving , unethical and lying . I am convinced that they will respond to my complaint with a fabricated explanation and a lie . This company helped me book an all- inclusive resort vacation, to Cancun. it was a disaster. During the booking Ms. Marcinack could not answer very basic questions and lacked knowledge about the resorts. we paid extra for a particular room and butler service. We did not get the appropriate room and a roll away bed had to be brought in. The butler was not helpful and hard to contact. we were told we had access to two properties and that was not true. the resort was clean and well maintained. After picking flights that were convienient for us the agent changed them telling us they were better but they were not and made the trip longer than necessary. The website is not user friendly so you are forced to trust the agent, which in our case did not go well. read more

Vacations to Go A+, Silversea Pre-Cruise F, Silversea Cruise Onboard A+ We booked our trip on the Silversea Origin to the Galapagos Islands on July 24th through Vacations to Go. We have used Vacations to Go for our cruises for over fifteen years. We have found the price of a cruise from Vacations to Go sometimes to be better than the cruise line price and sometimes substantially better and in some cases the same. Due to the quality of service, we book our cruises through Vacations to Go. On July 25th we receive notice that Silversea is changing the starting port from Quito to Guayaquil due to construction at Quito airport affecting flights. We asked to cancel the cruise as the change in ports was increasing our air fare by $1200. We were informed since we had booked within 60 days that there was no refund. I indicated to Silversea that you knew ahead of time about work at Quito airport. You should have notified us of potential change of airports. They claimed that they did not know of the work at the airport. I googled information on Quito airport. Quito airport clearly announced information before July 24th. Silversea refused to reimburse us the $1200 for our increased air fare. We had a host of other issues pre-cruise with Silversea. At Vacations to Go my case was elevated to a supervisor. The supervisor and I had a 90-minute conference call with Silversea. During the call we found out Silversea had never provided Vacations to Go that return flights must be after 5 or 6PM. We had to rebook our airline tickets again. At this point my wife and I had no interest in taking the cruise. I then got my case elevated to a senior executive at Vacations to Go. They got in touch with executives at Silversea. We came to an agreement, and we took the cruise. On the first day of the cruise passengers were complaining about their pre-cruise experience with Silversea. Our cruise experience was the exact opposite of our pre-cruise experience. The Silversea Origin is a luxurious ship for 100 passengers. The service was spectacular. The food was excellent with a great variety of choices. The servers, cabin stewards and front desk were very friendly, and we got to know each other by name. The guides were extremely knowledgeable. We were happy that we took the trip but are bewildered by the difference in pre-cruise and on-cruise experience with Silversea. We are fortunate that we had Vacations to Go intervening on our behalf. read more

My wife and I have been using Vacations To Go to find and schedule cruises for 4-5 years now. The web site is great for searching for cruises with any of the cruise companies. Once one is found you call them and will be connected with one of their travel agents who are very resourceful and eager to help you find the best cruise for your money. We booked an excursion with them for our up in coming cruise. An email was sent to us stating that our excursion time was pushed back from 10:00am to 2:00pm and to call them if there was an issue. We received this email on Sunday morning and to call the number below mon-fri 8-5. Called this morning and spoke with Kathy( who is a piece of garbage). She stated that we were wrong and there was a 24hr line to call on our tickets which we have not received by this point. We explained that the number in the email stated they were only open from Mon-Fri 8-5 and she kept telling us we were wrong. When we asked for a supervisor she stated that she could on put in a call back request. Mind you that we only now have to the end of the day to cancel the trip or it becomes final. I explained to hear that we are not going to wait for a supervisor call back when they would not call us back until tomorrow, at that point we would be past the 24hr time period to cancel. They completely falsely advertised their trip time and changed it at the last minute forcing us to cancel the trip all together. Dont waste your time and money on this company. This used to be a stellar company to work with, but recently it has been all bad, like someone else said, no more customer service. I cannot get a return phone call. I cannot get a return email. So I figured I would try to send them a private message on Facebook, their response? Block me from sending messages. All I want them to do is take my money..... We traveled to Mexico on a Carnival Cruise. Between my mom, daughter and me we booked three excursions (total of five tickets). My first one was canceled. Luckily someone I was traveling with had access to email and was notified the day before. The second day my mom's was canceled but no one told her, not through email or anything else. She was sitting around waiting for her tour when she found out and ultimately put with another tour that was leaving at the same time that was very boring, didn't serve food like the other and since she was anticipating a local meal, was hungry the entire time. The third day, all three of us went together to an animal sanctuary (my daughter is 3) and it was not as advertised. It was much further from the ship, the shuttle picked up another group for a different excursion on the way which was clearly outside of the way to our excursion, did not have many animals and we had to hire our own taxi to get us back to the ship in time to leave Mexico since their shuttle wasn't going to get us back in time. I 100% will never book with anyone other than the ship ever again so I can ensure I am notified when something is canceled and my family and I can be guaranteed to get back on the ship before it leaves. What others say in other reviews seems to be correct, as all these phone reps want to do is to book a cruise the moment they answer the phone. Don't attempt to be a "newbie" at cruise travel. DONT USE THEM. I had been receiving promotions for years in my email and purchased an all including trip for two to Costa Rica at the Riu Guanacaste Resort. When trying to check in for our flights the day before, there was an issue with the way the agent entered our information (according to Delta). Delta told me to rectify with the agency I booked through, so I called V2G and my agent had quite an attitude about it and told me the information I was told by Delta was incorrect. Lots of back and forth, and nothing was resolved. V2G agent said everything will be fine. FF to arriving at the airport, had issues with the airline as delta said we might and a Delta manager had to get involved to get us our boarding passes. Arrived at the Riu Guanacaste resort and the pool/lunch area smelled like sewage, the drinks were not good, the food was scary, the theater was under construction, and the hotel staff were not anything to write home about. We booked 8days/7nights and ended up lasting less than 24 hours on the resort. Paid to change our flights and head home early. Contacted our VacationsToGo agent and she was not helpful. Said they were sorry about our experience but had never heard complaints about this resort from any of their customers before (travelocity would beg to differ). Something happened with the resort after we had booked and within 2 months of our arrival, things took a turn for the worst. We were not refunded for the trip. Would never recommend this service and have unsubscribed from their emails. Update: Delta vacations did issue a partial refund. Given that we spent more time flying to/from the resort than we did on site, and delta vacations had us pay for our flights to/from somewhere we stayed less than 24 hours, and the cost to change the flights, and the hotel charged us for the 15 hours we were on site, I would still not recommend a vendor like Vacations to Go to assist me with future travel. By endorsing locations like this, it shows they don't do thorough research. All assistance with rectifying theses issues were done by me, with no help from Vacations To Go. STILL DO NOT RECOMMEND, regardless of the manager of V2G commenting on my post. read more

TLDR: Agent claim she can hold the cruise/rate for me while I book my flight/hotel, but she never did it. I ended up paying almost double since the rate was sold out and I didn't want to pay the cancellation penalty for my flight/hotel. - Not sure if I was unlucky or this is VTG's normal service, but I had one of the worst vacation booking experience when I tried to book a cruise through them (not to mention the extra money I ended up having to spend). This started a few days ago when I received one of their promotional email listing a discount on a Hawaiian cruise for next month. Since I was already planning on a trip I decided to check their offer and call to see if it's still available. I was able to reach a sale agent and she confirmed the date/room I wanted is available and send me an official quote via email. Because I know this kind of deal usually sells out quickly, I asked if she can hold the room for 1 day so I can make all the other necessary booking before I pay for the cruise. She emailed back claiming she can hold it and all she need is my name and DoB (pretty normal so far). I replied within the hour with the info and let her know I'll contact her tomorrow to pay for the cruise and spend the rest of the night booking all the flights & hotel. The next morning I try to call/email the agent back but was never able to reach her. I ended up calling their normal sales number again and was told the agent I was working with is on vacation and won't be back for a few days. When I ask to finish my cruise booking that was supposedly held for me, I was told they do not see any information and the discount is now sold out and the only thing available on the date I want will cost me $1700 per person (up from $1000/person). This came as a total surprise to me so I ask if there's anything they can do, but of course they claim it's not their fault that it's sold out, even though their agent told me they will hold the room for me. At this point I am left with the choice of canceling my hotel and flight and pay the penalty or pay a higher price for the cruise. Since this is for a special occasion, I've decided to still book the cruise, but due to the lack of trust with VTG, I ended up booking directly on the cruise line's website, since it's the exact same price as VTG. read more

I haven't had much experience with this company, other than being on their e-mail list. I tried booking a cruise with them last week, and the agent would not give the price listed on the website. When I mentioned about how this is unfair, the agent appeared to show little empathy. I asked to be transferred to speak to a supervisor, and he transferred me to the wrong department. I had to wait about 10 minutes for someone from that department to pick up, even though the wait time stated was 2 minutes or less. Finally, I get someone to pick up and I asked them to connect me to a supervisor. The supervisor was able to get me the published rate, but only could hold it for 2 hours. I couldn't make a decision so quick, so I waited a couple of days and called Cruise.com. I got a lower rate, a nicer agent, and $50 onboard credit. read more

When my cabin mate and I tested positive for Covid we were quarantined onboard. We were unable to take the Vacations to Go excursion. In fact, my companion was taken off the ship at that port and spent 10 days in the hospital. The cruise line immediately refunded the excursion we missed with them. Vacations to go has saved me a lot of money on cruises but, you do need to be the kind of customer that doesn't need a "full service travel agency". In other words, if you are an experienced traveler, or, in this case, cruiser, you can get about the best deals by using them. Our agent, Luis C. is always very responsive to my emails, even when he isn't working. I have even received replies from him while he was on vacation! As an example, we had book a 12 day cruise for March on Celebrity using their site before I used VTG. When I checked with Luis he was able to beat their fare by $1200 and that was on an inside cabin. I had to pay a $200 penalty to Celebrity to cancel our first reservation but still saved $1000 even after absorbing that loss. Later, when we decided to book the cruise right before the one we had booked (making it a back to back) we got another $400 off the first cruise plus a "back to back" discount. In the end we landed up paying about the same for 21 days as we had originally been planning on paying for the 12 day cruise alone from Celebrity. There were some tradeoffs, like not getting all four "free perks" (we got three through VTG) but once you understand the value of them you can make a decision as to how much they are worth to you and in most cases realize the free perks really aren't free, they are just built into the price you pay. The bottom line is this: If you do your homework and know what you want then buying a ticket on a cruise is just a commodity transaction and there's no reason to pay more than you have to. If you're that kind of customer then VTG will save you a lot of money. We spend on average about 3-4 months a year on cruise ships so know the ropes pretty well. On the other hand, if you need to spend hours with an agent going over every painstaking detail of your trip then it's probably better to use a more traditional agency. read more

At this point, we are very unhappy with Vacations to Go , and we haven't even left on the trip yet! 45 days before the trip, they inform us of a flight change that takes us out our Jamaican resort 6 hours earlier than scheduled, and sticks us in an airport for a 9 hour layover. While this company gives great rates on last minute cruise deals they definitely dont give great service . We booked a cruise and purchased travel insurance as we usually do with any other booking. This company uses Generalli insurance which I DO NOT RECOMMEND we were told clearly from a representative we would be covered no matter what. I've booked with Vacations To Go a few times and I've been very pleased with their service. If my booking agent wasn't available another agent was willing to help. They have gone above my expectations saving me hundreds of dollars a couple of times. When the cruise prices have gone down or had specials offers I have called them and asked them to change my booking to the new offer and they have done so with no issues. One time the final payment was made on our cruise and two days later the price went down. They worked with the cruise line and me and saved me $800.
