I left a review back in Feb 2023 and I have to say my 5 stars aren't going to change for this location too bad they are no longer my insurance because I was planing on seeing them in a month in half again in January perhaps I will pay for my eye exam out of pocket. So I'm saddened by such development because the doctor is great it's been one of the few places that my prescription was made perfectly. I'm going to make this short and sweet. I would not ever go back to Val-Uvision nor recommend them. They're over priced and have a LIMITED guarantee on their work. The prescription I got from them varied greatly from previous prescriptions and my glasses were basically useless. The reading part of the bifocals were correctly but the distance was not and I was told to do so would require an entirely new visit and lenses which I would be charged $560 for. My previous prescription was still in date and I found a provider that would make new lenses for a reasonable price and guarantee that they would be perfect no matter how many corrections had to be done. Luckily, they were perfect the first time. Even though they take my insurance, I would NEVER go back. If you choose to go to Val-Uvision, please be aware of their LIMITED GUARANTEE and quality of work. read more

This is the most efficient optometrist office I've ever been to. In and out. Boom! I happened to catch an Optomap sale for $20 instead of $40 - bonus! The doctor was caring and concerned. They were clear about payment and cost. They really impressed me. I initially choose this location because of its proximity to my home, but I will stay with them because of the great service. Please note that they shut down for half an hour each day for lunch. Also, my one negative is that they do not have access to files from the Regency location, so I had to redo all initial paperwork. read more

I had an overall good experience, I was seen the same day I call in to make the appointment , the doctor was extremely professional and I see perfect with my eye glasses, I have horrible vision up close and far way , my insurance covered the entire visit with a frame and allowance of 500 dollars so I had the entire store as a selection for frame. I ended up going with a pair of ray bans 6238 with progressive lenses. my glasses took about 2 weeks to be ready but I am extremely happy with them as I see perfect and since I been using progressive lenses for a while it didn't take me long to get used to my new prescriptions. They thought that I might have an retina occlusion and refer me to a specialist, I am glad that wasn't the case, but they took good care of me, I when back to get the glasses ajustes because they were sliding a little on my face they were very nice and adjusted them. and Dr leinwhol is very nice. Customer service is good. Eye exam by Dr.Gayle was borderline OK, I had better eye exams from optometrists earlier and a better prescription. The glasses fabricated by Val-U-Vision on Dr.Gayle's prescription is a tad offand my eyes get stressed out in a few hours. I got a second pair made withe same prescription from BJs opticals ( Yes, the warehouse store BJs on Philips Hwy) and they are so much better. read more

The staff is very supportive and friendly to help my entire family. A year ago, Dr. Stowe found something different in my daughter's eye and immediately set her up with an appt with an ophthalmologist in the area. This had been our third year of annual checks with Val-Uvision. Since, we had previous records on file, Dr. Stowe was able to determine that this was a new issue, and should be dealt with in a timely manner. Sure enough, it was Pseudo-tumor Cerebra also known as Idiopathic intracranial hypertension. If untreated, my daughter would be blind. She does not fit any part of the criteria for her to have this either. Since then, we continue to have our yearly eye exams there, with dilation (that is how she found it, and with the history of records of her dilations, she was able to conclude a new issue.) All of the supportive staff are patient, kind, informative, caring, and willing to help in whatever means they can to give you the best care they possibly could. We are honored to have them in the rotation of our self care, and we would refer them most definitely to whoever needs eye care services. read more

I have been in desperate need to have an eye exam for two years now and I was able to get an appointment here. The office isn't too far from the area I live in and the staff here was very nice and had a willingness to help attitude. The visit went by really smooth even though the time spent was a little on the lengthy side. The glasses that you are able to choose from were a little on the scarce side but the staff member helping me didn't complain with the time it took for me to make an actual selection. read more

I read bad reviews on line and still went there because one person recommended. One recent review said doc was nice but no one else. I can tell u from my exp that it sure felt like a money sucking sponge operation. Btw i asked the 'nice' doc who was in charge and made all final decisions and she said she was. The doctor was nice. That's about the only pro I can give this office. I went there in early 2009, I have needed a new prescription for glasses every year for nearly ten years at this point. I had a couple coupons to assist in the frame choices. My appointment was at 10am, I was not seen until 1145am. Two ladies who came in after me were even seen first. The doctor was nice, as I said. Upon choosing my glasses, I was given a selection of seven frames to fit my coupon. The cheapest frame from the wall was still $75 more expensive, so I picked out the best one out of the bunch. Or so I thought. I had recently broken my nose, so I also picked out the lightest weight lens with UV protection, anti glare, and scratch resistance. What had been quoted to me before my appointment was $150 glasses and $15 exam (due to what my insurance covered). However, when I went to check out, my total was nearly $400. Apparently they take all monies up front and THEN bill the insurance company, later sending you a check for the difference. And even if your insurance doesn't cover glasses (mine does not, only exams) they will not apply a coupon to your order, simply because "you have insurance". None of this had been explained to me when I called to set up the appointment, when I arrived, nor during any other point of my visit. I did not get out of there until nearly 3pm, and almost $400 more broke. When I finally received my glasses almost 3weeks later, I was pleased. The sat a little heavy, but I chalked that up to my recent injury. Within two days the painted design on my frames began chipping off, leaving the plain metal and pink plastic pieces. At five days I had a scratch across my right lens (no idea how that happened). And by day ten, I had a chip out of the bottom of the left lens because the glasses slipped off my face while I was tying my shoe and hit the pavement. On top of all this it took nearly six months for them to send me a check for the difference between what they charged me, what the insurance covered, and what my co-pay was. Four years later, after never returning to this store, I get a phone call reminding me to make an appointment....... read more

We have been patients at this location for years and years. Always a good experience with Dr Gayle and her staff. In the year since our last visit, staffing and service has changed. My appt today was for 10:30, I showed up on time and sat there about 20 mins in which time I realized things appeared to be behind schedule. I asked at the front desk if they were running behind and was told yes a little bit. I said my appt was at 10:30, she said there was one appt ahead of me. I sat there until 11:15 at which time I realized this wasn't going to get any better so I told the girl I was leaving, this was ridiculous. No one acknowledges you are waiting well beyond your appt time. In past visits, the other staff members take you into a room and get the exam going as far as they can before eye dr takes over. Didn't get any of that today nor did I see that occur with any other patients there. Very disappointing. Change of staff was obviously not for the better. We will be transferring our patient files to another optometrist. I would recommend you not set your expectations too high if you go to this location. Service isn't what it use to be, unfortunately. read more

This review is for the San Jose Blvd. location, I have not used other Valuvision locations. BUYER BEWARE about their "All Sales Final" policy, this includes when THEY don't get it right. I got new glasses in Feb. Finally after a few adjustments, (none of which worked) to prevent the nose piece from digging into the bridge of my nose, and the arms of the frames from making indentations on the side of my head, I went and got a second opinion from another optical store. Sure enough, my suspicions were confirmed, the tech who "fitted" the glasses and took measurements didn't catch that the frames I'd choses were not wide enough to fit properly, nor measured correctly. When I called to inquire about what type of customer satisfaction policy they had, I was reminded that ALL sales are final. Because I waited a few months before I finally was fed up with not getting a good fit, I thought maybe that was why they would not stand behind their service. But, as I understand it, "All sales are final" begins at the time you pay for your glasses. read more
