For starters, Vue Optical describes itself as a boutique eyeglass shop with independent designer frames. That's a bait & switch. Few top designer lines, and those they list on their website - like SALT. - they have in barely a handful of styles. They also use some funky lab, and first filled my RX (from an ophthalmology office in town ranked on the "Top Doctor" annual list) - without my approval, I'm all about brands - with some no-name label that was awful. Vue said they couldn't offer Zeiss lenses, the very best. And then when we agreed to try Hoya (or was that Shamir?), it was done by the same lab! With the $1k "office" progressive eyeglasses I bought from them last year, I should be able to see clearly from 12 inches to about 20 feet. Make that 8 ft, barely. And I get headaches and sleepy trying to read closeup for more than 30 minutes. Plus, super frustrating on top of that, the AR anti-reflective coating is obviously of such cheap quality that it's almost impossible to get rid of the smudges - even with those special eyeglass cloth wipes or washing with dishwasher soap. The shop is pretty, and the 2 saleswomen are lovely. The woman who sold me the frames and lenses sent my eyeglasses back to the lab 2x to "fix" them. I accepted them finally because it was embarrassing, and despite her politeness and seeming patience, I felt like a nuisance and flake. I greatly regret not being more assertive and demanding a refund. I'm 67, and have worn progressive eyeglasses 30+ years. I've bought in my former towns - NYC, Philly, SF, LA. And I've never ever ever had a problem, much less this maddening experience. Ok, I've got to stop. I'm getting sleepy from typing close-up. I'm giving 2 stars for the pretty shop and nice saleswomen. And I don't like to totally slam a business. But I'm certainly not coming back here. read more

The Opticians where there really help me a delivered my Cartiers with pretty much the works on them tint drill mount ar transitions. Im a Optical lab manager most my life. I was told my glasses would be $200 and after the exam they ended being $285. They make me dizzy so now they want another 175 to fix them.

Sorry for the random double post! As a Tricare member I was searching everywhere for places that accept my insurance, and weren't (I hate to say this) "trashy". It's really hard finding good health care establishments for military members that arent "low end". I take pride in my health so I try to find the best places possible, without going out of network and paying a TON of money. Vue.Is.It! Wow. This place is WONDERFUL! The absolute best eye care practice I've been to, ever! Its located in super cute Avondale. So before you even walk in you fall in love with the vibe of the area. I'll admit, I had to call the poor front desk gal a few times to figure out where they were. The are sandwiched in between some other shops and nothing really jumps out that says VUE!!!. From what I remember they were across the street from a pizza place? (It could have been a burger joint). Anyway. Walking in the place looks great from the inside. Im not even sure how to describe it? Botique. I feel like thats the best way. Everyone was great, from front desk to the tech to Dr Nolan. My appointment was at the end of the day, and I didn't wait long at all before they called me back. The entire process was very quick and smooth. Dr Noland is SO nice! She really spends the time with you, addressing any concerns you may have. Their glasses selection is GREAT! The girl from the front desk was the one helping me out and she listened to everything I was looking for in a pair of glasses and we ended up finding me the perfect pair! I was so happy! Im so picky about my glasses but this was a total breeze. What I loved most about Vue was how easy it was to talk to them through text. I was able to set up an appointment almost completely through text! Which is great because Im at work the same hours they are open. So being able to shoot a text in between patients makes life so much easier for me. Even after I had seen them we still spoke about a different Rx, ordering contacts, and the arrival and fitting of my glasses. I didn't have to set up another appointment to see the Dr for each question, I didn't have to wait for them to go ask the Dr while waiting on hold on the phone. I feel like this method is so much more streamline for everyone involved. All around great customer service and I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone! So glad they accept Tricare! read more

Several months ago I had Vue Optical make new lenses for an old frame I owned. We had recently moved to the area and I was looking for a local optician. The lenses were perfect and I came in once for a frame adjustment. Each time I was impressed with how friendly and helpful everyone was. Today I came back for a issue I had with a different frame. Although I hadn't bought the frame from Vue both Jamie and Jennifer were incredibly helpful and spent time trying to help me figure out what the issue was. I didn't want this year to end before saying how much I appreciate what Dr. Nolan has done for me. I had been dealing with dry eyes for quite some time. My former doctor told me I suffered from blepharitis, so I knew that part of the equation. Dr. Nolan went further and diagnosed me with MGD, meibomian gland dysfunction. She took a special set of pictures to show me exactly what my MGD looked like and explained in detail the options to help me with this. Dr. Nolan utilizes the most advanced technologies in her practice. We've done several treatments in her office, several weeks apart, that have helped me TREMENDOUSLY. I was using over the counter eye drops up to once an hour to try to get any kind of relief. However, since the treatments, I rarely notice my dry eye symptoms and can go all day without even thinking about using eye drops. Thank you, Dr. Nolan, for giving me back a more normal life. You are the BEST! To top it off, her office in Avondale is beautiful. The people she employs are extremely helpful and professional, and her selection of eyewear is second to none. read more

Love the very helpful and sweet ladies that make up Dr Nolans staff. Dr Nolan her self is awesome and a pleasure to deal with. Very professional and easy to talk to. She has the latest and greatest machinery in the field. Very technologically advanced office. There is also a large selection of high end frames to choose from. We have purchased some Mykita frames here a while back and they will help with the fitting and any adjusting you may need to have done to your frames later on down the line. Relaxing atmosphere. Amazing doctor. Awesome experience. I usually hate going to get my eye exam, and put it off for as long as possible. My insurance changed so I had to find another doctor in my network, the closest one happens to be right in the neighborhood at Vue. I went in, the doctor gladly checked me in, had me fill out some quick paperwork (took maybe 2 minutes) then had me in the back to do the most hassle free, quick exam I've ever done. She was a pleasure to work with and I'll definitely be returning to Vue in Avondale for all of my optical needs. read more

Pricey frames, but also designer names, so as to be expected. I plan to keep my eye care here as long as I'm living in Jax! Wow, I was blown away by the awesome customer service from Dr. Nolan and her staff. In speaking with her I learned that we knew a lot of the same people and we even grew up in the same area of Jacksonville. I really liked my former Eye Care Doctor, but he was so far away from my house in Avondale, Dr. Nolan knew him too, so I felt comfortable with her. I want to tell you that this woman has wonderful mannerisms, as my eyes are very important to me and she made me feel confident in my choices of Better 1 or Better 2, her staff was fantastic and helped me with my insurance. I get contact lenses here, and I have my contact lens exams done here. I get presecription sunglasses here too. This place is not like your typical visit to a chain-style retail eye exam place.
