A really cute place a bit off the main street. Staff was super friendly. The sandwiches being served while I was there looked incredible. I was there for a breakfast treat for the following day. Not a large selection when I was there and most had nuts, which I'm allergic to. Found a berry tart, which was delicious. read more

We stopped here for lunch while passing through town. One of us had a smoked salmon sandwich the other a Schnitzel sandwich. Both were EXCELLENT! We also picked up a delicious loaf of their Farmer's bread and some assorted pastries. The staff and owner were very friendly and helpful in our pastry selection. THE ONLY PLACE TO GO IN VALEMOUNT! I travel a lot between Alberta and BC, and I've seen my fair share of mediocre and poor family-style restaurants. This place was such a wonderful change! Authentic and rustic decor, cheerful service, and excellent food. I had their breakfast special which began with beautiful fresh bread, meats, and cheeses. It was followed by piping hot scrambled eggs, fresh veggies, and a bratwürst! Coffee was excellent, I had the regular drip and my friends enjoyed their cappuccinos. We were served and cooked for by the husband and wife team who own the bakery. A lovely Swedish couple, full of smiles. In addition to breakfast, they serve soups/sandwiches for lunch, and packed lunches to go. If you are stopping anywhere in the Valemount area-- check this place out! read more

Best European breakfast and freshest coffee, hands-down! It is the most quaint bake-shop I have been to, with a great view of the mountains and the trains that pass by. My fiance and I have been here multiple times whenever we wanted an escape to the Rockies for a long weekend. (It's a 6 hours drive away from Edmonton) When you walk in, there's no menu. Silvia would inform you the choices of two breakfast specials. However, we always have the scrambled eggs and ham, with a variety of sliced bread, cheeses and homemade jam. Oh, the rye bread is to die for. Be sure to try their salmon roll and pretzel! Oh, the pretzel is of the old-fashioned yummy kind! (Not the soft ones) Exceptional friendly service. This was one of our favorite stops during our road trip from Vancouver through Salmon Arm, Banff Town, Jasper, and Valemount. Although they've got a seemingly smaller space inside, it really adds to the cozy and warm environment. The breads here absolutely amazing!! Thanks to the wonderful staff running this cute cafe, we had a great breakfast of coffees, pastries, and sandwiches! This is a must stop in Valemount! read more

Great bread is hard to find in Canada. But look no further than here. Staff is also super friendly, we only had 5$ instead of 5.50$ but they said it's ok, so we ended up paying just 5$. read more

Nice bakery, very small. We came in just to check it out after lucking out on a $5 BBQ cheeseburger fund raiser put on by the Lions Club at the IGA. It looked like you could order some type of set lunch of the day. Most people appeared to be having a hot beverage & pastry. We had the apple almond type pastry, it was delicious. If you're thinking it will be a traditional bakery think again. Small, limited product but very good! The bathroom was very clean & the log building was quite attractive. Stopped in our way to Jasper and had a wonderful lunch of carrot/potato soup and a salmon roll in a flaky crust. For dessert we had a strawberry pastry with poppy seeds and latte. Service, food and view were all great. Worth finding if you are on this highway. read more

The berry tart we took from the Swiss Bakery is one of the most delicious things we have had in Canada. That is one delicious tart! Their sausage roll and salmon roll were fine as well. And I want another Strawberry/Chocolate pastry as I write this. So good! Sylvia - the owner - is such a delight that she is worth a trip to the shop alone. Spirited and bubbly and as friendly as can be - she is a great ambassador for The Swiss Bakery as well as Valemount itself.
