She really does do miraculous work: my three-sizes-too-big wedding gown had extensive beading, stays, and about a zillion layers of tulle. While her store does seem to be nestled into an unremarkable area, Valentina and her work are EXTREMELY remarkable. I found Valentina's glowing reviews when I was looking for a place to take my wedding dress and rehearsal dinner dress for alterations. Valentina's shop is very close to my house (a perk) as well as Pie Snob and their 24-hour pie ATM (bigger perk!). She is so warm and pleasant. She is confident in her work but clearly explains options and is willing to make adjustments as you request. She did beautiful work for what I believe was a reasonable price. She made the top fit perfectly (pulled up the straps up, cinched in the waist, repositioned a tie), hemmed the length and train, and created a bustle for $550. She made the bustle truly so simple that I think it will be a breeze to fit on the wedding day. I also had a rehearsal dinner dress that was ~4-5 sizes too large that she made fit with all over adjustments for $150. My dress fits wonderfully and I can't wait to wear it. I've gone to Valentina's twice now. Once for my wedding dress and once for a bridesmaid dress. This is now without a doubt my go-to for any alterations needed. My wedding dress was too large in the bust, but had beadwork and mesh siding so I was nervous some of that would be lost during alterations. It look as good, if not better once it was sized down! It for like a glove and I couldn't have been happier with it! I also needed to get last minute alterations made to a bridesmaid dress, so I was nervous it wouldn't be done in time. I can not say enough great things about Valentina and her shop!! I went to her a week before my wedding, after deciding that I needed to have my dress hemmed a few inches. She was booked solid, and she still took the time to see me and take care of my dress. Don't let the shop location or look fool you, her work is awesome! My dress was very delicate, with beading all over. Not only was she able to hem it, but she added a bustle on the back for me, making the beads she used look like part of the dress and it made it so much easier to walk in after my ceremony. Not only is her work superb, but her prices are the best I have seen. She charged me less than $200 for what other places were telling me was going to be $400 or more! I will say, I am very particular, and I did notice that one area of the dress that was hemmed (AKA cut off) was not perfectly even, and had a little mis-cut, but I was able to even it myself and forgot all about it by time I was putting the dress on for the actual wedding. My dress, thankfully, was forgiving and easy to fix something like that, I could see how on other dresses that could cause problems for the bride. I bought my wedding dress from an "off the rack" shop that carries one-off dresses from years prior. This means that you do not get to order it in your size. Quick turn around and everything turned out great! I brought a bridesmaid dress in and she gave me a week and a half time frame to get it altered. They were also really accommodating when I came to pick it up as they normally do appointments to try it on but I was in a hurry in between appointments. The only two downsides I had were I had cups placed inside since I did not have large enough boobs to fill out the dress, and I did not notice any difference when she added the cups. They still were large and not filled out. Also I also paid for the sleeves to get fixed because she said they kept flipping up because they were too loose, however despite getting them fixed they still kept flipping up. She does a great job and it was pretty inexpensive so I would definitely recommend, however I would try on next time to make sure what I paid for actually made a difference. read more

She was upfront about prices. We did the sides first and she said it'll bring the dress up a little.
