Let me start by saying that, the only reason I'm taking the time to write this review is in hopes that other people will avoid being swindled in the future by this business. Especially after getting a second opinion at Suzanne's Sewing (which is an absolutely professional, communicative, reasonably priced and trustworthy seamstress) I could not recommend enough that brides pursuing honest, quality, reasonably priced alterations go absolutely anywhere except Perfect Bride. Normally I give people the benefit of the doubt and I rarely write negative reviews, but this interaction horrified me too much not to say something in hopes of helping other brides. Jenny had me try the dress on, we discussed that all the dress really even needed was a small hem, and a bustle. As I changed out of the dress, she told me the cost would be $650 for those alterations. I completely understand that every dress is different, but since I wasn't expecting to spend $650 on basic alterations, I told her that was much higher than I was expecting, and while I understood things cost what they cost for such important work, I wanted to get a second opinion before making a decision. She then asked what my price range was (which is $250 at this time, though I suppose it would change if the second opinion produces similar feedback to my initial consultation). She then offered to make a hem/bustle alterations that was somehow different than the first one that she couldn't explain very well besides "doing less to the dress" than she initially was going to do, and the cost would be $300. Since that seemed more reasonable I let her pin up the dress. I had asked if the look of the dress hem/bustle would be affected with the changes she was thinking about to make it cheaper, and she couldn't clearly explain (to be honest, there seemed to be next to no language barrier when we first started the meeting, but at this point the language barrier suddenly increased so much that I had a really hard time understanding what she was saying/the communication wasn't clear at all. After pinning the dress, she then wrote me up the receipt cost of $375, which was yet another change in the cost. I asked why it had increased from what she had said before, and she acted confused as she "added up" the cost of the hem and the bustle and $375 was what it was going to be all along (which I definitely did not misunderstand when she had quoted $300 earlier). She would only accept cash, or Zelle, which is fine, but it would have been a bit easier if that was communicated up front. I had only brought my credit card so she did let me know I could contact her later for payment to move forward with working on the dress. I left that appointment extremely nervous. After talking with my partner and thinking about it more, I contacted Jenny to say I needed to come back to get the dress and pursue a different solution. She said I could have my dress back, while also owing a $50 consultation fee, which normally I would be completely fine with, but she changed the cost of the alterations A THIRD TIME after I said yes to moving forward under the agreement of the $300. This made it feel like my dress was being held for ransom. read more

I went to see Jenny Barnes on October 5th, my wedding was Nov. 7th. My wedding dress had delicate sleeves that needed to be opened to fit my arms. WITHOUT TAKING ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS she told me she would let out as much as possible and open the arm holes. She scheduled for me to pick up 1 week before my wedding! After two weeks passed, I insisted on a second fitting within the week. Thank god I did. When I put my dress on, everything was wrong. The sleeves of my dress were very loose, wrinkling up -- which would have looked awful in photos. Then to make matters worse, the arm holes were too large and the dress kept falling off my shoulders, causing it to buldge in the back. The back wouldn't lay flat to my body. I wanted to cry. I DID NOT TRUST HER TO MAKE ANYMORE ALTERATIONS, so I left without saying a thing to her. I knew she would insist on letting her alter it more, and I didn't have enough time before my wedding. So, I got a second opinion from a seamstress who said that wedding dress sleeves like mine are delicate and difficult -- if Jenny did not have absolute confidence and experience altering them, she should have referred me elsewhere. I was so upset and overwhelmed, so I bought a second dress from the same store I bought my first - LUV Bridal in DT PHX -- LUV BRIDAL IS AWESOME! When I arrived to purchase a new dress, I explained to LUV Bridal how unhappy I was with my alterations. THEY SAID MANY GIRLS HAD BEEN HAVING COMPLAINTS ABOUT JENNY (Perfect Bride Alterations & Couture). In that exact moment, the assistant at LUV Bridal opened their alterations recommendation document and immediately deleted her from it. THEY THREW AWAY ALL OF THEIR OLD ALTERATIONS RECOMMENDATION SHEETS, AND PRINTED NEW ONES WITHOUT HER ON IT. So, this isn't a one-time bad experience. My complaint was a final straw for LUV Bridal and they no longer recommend her. They do not want to be affiliated with her anymore. I asked my mom to reach out to Jenny and demand a refund. I was too overwhelmed emotionally and in planning for my wedding which was 2 weeks away. After constant calls back and forth, Jenny finally agreed to issue a full refund in the amount of $150, with the contingent that I show proof of buying and altering a new dress. So I emailed her all of the receipts same day and she confirmed via email that she would be sending a check. Two weeks later and I still hadn't received anything. I called her today, Nov. 21st and she tells me she will cancel the check that was mailed to me, and send another one, but for only HALF! I continued to reiterate that she agreed to refund me the entire amount. She just told me to write a review and she will respond -- as if her response will make a bad review better?! Just before I hung up she said "I will send a new check, but for half. Ok, bye." SHE IS DISHONEST, rude and inconsiderate. I have written confirmation in email that she agreed to refund me the full amount, yet now she is going against her word?! See photos attached! I've entered her company information into the Better Business Bureau (SHE IS NOT BBB ACCREDITED) and filed a claim against her. Now she will have to face BBB regarding business and consumer law. It's also unclear why she insists on sending a check, when the Square company can issue a direct refund to my credit card...but I digress. I do not recommend her to anyone for anything. It's hard to know if your dress alterations are going to be "easy", and if they aren't, you risk Jenny botching it. read more

Fortunately for me, the bride changed her mind and bought a new dress so my dress had never been worn. However, it was tailored to fit her body. - I found Jenny on Yelp and booked an appointment immediately. She works out of her house in the Biltmore area. You enter through a side gate to get to her office and you can park by the gate as well. - Jenny had to undo the previous alterations and essentially remake the dress to fit me. I went to Jenny's alterations studio a couple of months ago for my consultation. She squeezed me in last minute and was a sweetheart from the start! I brought in my all lace dress with off the shoulder straps... I needed the length cut (I'm 5 feet tall), straps removed and crinoline added to the bottom (the dress is mermaid style). I brought a gemstone belt for my dress and she very carefully added it by sewing it on, you could not see a single stitch. 4. She added three bustles to the train of my dress. They were very well hidden while down and when it was up it looked like it was made to be that way! 5. Jenny did the impossible. I had my dress altered at the bridal boutique where I purchased it. During the first fitting, I noticed that the dress had extra fabric around the lower abdomen area that from the side gave me a "baby bump." I let the seamstress know, but she essentially said that was all she could do. I didn't have much time, but I took it to Jenny who immediately put my mind at ease and completed the dress in a week. I trusted fellow yelpers and am so happy that I did! The price was super reasonable and my dress fit perfect! My mother-in-law also had her dress altered and she looked amazing in her dress! We ordered her dress online & it needed a lot of work. The service was great & the quality of work was great. The only hiccup is that one of the pins was sewn/caught inside the dress making it dangerous if she would have stepped on it. Thankfully my bridesmaids caught it while steaming the dress (final touches) & carefully removed it without ripping the hemming too much. The dress has an intricate beaded top layer and bottom satin, actually two dresses. Jenny is very skilled at what she does, took a loosely fitting dress and make it fit my body like a glove, with care to maintain the overall shape/style of the dress and all of the detailing. I picked it up and took it home from what would have been my final fitting, and realized I wasn't feeling 100% happy with the way it fit me. I called Jenny the next morning, she had me come in that day, and had the dress back to me in less than two days, with all of the changes I asked for. This was a week and a half before my wedding and I was nervous about making last minute changes, but she said no problem, and wanted to be sure I had the dress at least a week before the wedding, feeling happy and confident in it, and didn't make me feel bad about it at all. INCREDIBLY DISHONEST. My family has already spent $680 dollars with Jenny...and she kept lying to me yesterday at my dress fitting. Here's what happened: My sister used Jenny for alterations on her wedding dress. She paid $500 (knowing that while expensive, Jenny does good work). And my sister recommended her to me for my upcoming wedding. Before I had Jenny fit my dress, my fiancé and I brought her his tuxedo. She charged us $160 for the jacket only. We paid it and tipped her $25 as a gesture, knowing she would be doing my dress next (what a mistake). I also left my dress with her and booked my first fitting for a month out. When I went in yesterday for my first fitting, I brought my stepmom with me. Jenny handed me the someone else's dress (someone named Emmy) and told me to put it on. I let her know she had the wrong dress and then once I was in my dress, this is what I asked for: 1. Straps removed 2. Dress taken in at bust 3. Breast area made less "pointy" 4. 1-point bustle 5. Belt removed and new belt added in its place Jenny told us that for all of this, "including the belt swap," it would be $440. We reminded her that my bridal salon was paying for the belt swap, so she could deduct that. She told us that she hadn't included that in the $440. We reminded her that she JUST told us the $440 included the belt. Then she told us the belt only cost $20, so she'll deduct $20. We pushed back. There's NO way that belt swap is only $20 of that $440. She corrected herself and said the belt was $20 to take off and $50 to put on. $70 total. We would deduct that so our new price was going to be $380. (But that's only a $60 deduction...?). Then, we asked her how much it cost to make the breast less pointy. She told us $100. We told her we don't need it done. It's not very noticeable and we'd rather save the $100." She came back with, "Actually, it's $80. So I'll deduct $80." Now we were concerned. She kept changing the price whenever it suited her. A large price when she thought we were paying, a smaller price when we didn't want it and she had to deduct. "$310 total," she said. But $310 meant only a $70 deduction, not $80. Did she think we wouldn't notice??? My stepmom said, "Jenny, you told us the belt is $70 and to make the pointy breasts is $100. If we don't have you do those, that's a $170 deduction from original total. That brings us to $270." Jenny agreed. A few minutes later she told us (twice) that she thinks she deserves $300 because her work is couture. We told her, "You already agreed that the price is $270. You can't just change your mind because we want less work done on it and you want to keep the price high." She agreed, "Okay, $270." I got changed and made my next appointment. As we were walking out, she said, "Oh! I forgot to include the bustle! That's another $25. Brings you up to $295." We were flabbergasted. Originally, she told us $440 included EVERYTHING. Now she says she never even included the bustle. My stepmom said, "Jenny, we want to call around to other stores. This is disappointing. Please don't touch the dress until we call you back tomorrow. I want to confirm that everything here is being done correctly. We'll probably still have you do it, but we want some peace of mind." Jenny said to my stepmom, "Well if its too expensive why don't YOU pay for it?" (How inappropriate!) My stepmom said, "It's not about the value of your work. Or the money per se. It's about you trying to up the price deceitfully. It's simply not fair." "I won't do your dress until you pay," Jenny said. My stepmom said, "Okay, do you take credit card? We will call you tomorrow and if we want the work done can we pay over the phone?" Jenny said, "You know what, if you aren't comfortable with me, you should take your dress and go." Wow. I walked over to pick up my dress of the hook, and Jenny STOPPED ME AND GRABBED MY DRESS FROM ME. "Give me my pins!" She demanded. "You can't take my pins!" At this point, I was hurt. I looked her right in the eyes and said, "Jenny, my sister came to you for her wedding dress. My fiancé came to you for his tux. We tipped you $25 in good faith. And this is how you treat us?" Do you want to know her response? "I do couture work! You can't get a discount on couture." All I have to say is wow. I didn't want a discount. I wanted HONESTY. We left Jenny's and drove to another tailor (Janet Kirkman) who came highly recommended by my planner. She's amazing. She squeezed us in between appointments. Her salon is BEAUTIFUL, and her prices are honest. We are going to pay a similar price to Jenny's, but she made us feel comfortable and itemized each item. I don't care if Jenny's work is great, because her attitude was awful. I can't deal with all the lying. It's not about the quality of her work... it's about the DECEIT. To top it off, she god BLOOD on the bust of my dress, right at the nipple. She tried to clean it off with a Q-tip, but it left a yellow stain. :-( read more

Jenny was wonderful! I had a hiccup when ordering my gown from the salon--it had discontinued my size and had not told me for several months, but the salon ultimately tracked down the same gown in the next larger size. We took it into Jenny, who assured us she could alter it to fit me. We had several fittings, and each time Jenny's focus was on me feeling great in the dress--she was not satisfied until I loved it! This dress had a long train, detailed lace, and multiple layers (close to ten layers, I think?...). She did a beautiful bustle that made the dress gorgeous once pinned up as well, and was easy for my bridesmaids to bustle properly. I ordered my dress at Pearl Bridal back in August, but didn't receive it until November of last year. It looked amazing on the hanger but unfortunately, I had gained a little weight and the dress no longer fit. Pearl Bridal recommended Jenny for alterations and I did not hesitate to give her a call. She was easy to communicate with and made sure I could get an appointment with her as soon as possible. She also spoke Spanish which is another plus! As soon as I had it on, she began pinning and asking me how I felt in it and what I wanted to change. I came back to finally pick my dress up about two weeks after I had my consultation, put my dress on and it fit perfectly! I was so relieved! Jenny did such an amazing job with my dress! I bought the dress from David's Bridal in June of this year. It was a size 16. I told David's Bridal I was going to lose weight before the wedding and how small could they make the dress if I brought it back for alterations. They told me no more than two sizes due to the lace. Needless to say I lost 30 pounds and needed more than two sizes. I called a bridal shop and they told me they don't alter dresses there but told me to call the lady they send all their clients to for alterations. Her name is Jenny Barnes and her business is called Perfect Bride Alterations & Couture. I made an apt. She had me try on the dress and clipped where she would need to take the dress in. I asked how much she thought she would have to alter the dress and she said about 3 dress sizes. I came back a week before the wedding and tried on the dress. IT WAS AMAZING!!! Jenny did a fabulous job with this dress. It looked wonderful, fit perfectly, and I felt so good wearing it! It was a difficult dress to alter with the lace but she did it and surpassed my expectations! I will definitely come back to Jenny for future alterations.
