Popular Filipino bake shop located next to Seafood City where you can get your basic Filipino baked goods. I came in specifically to purchase their empanadas (chicken and beef) and the carioca. They were busy on a Friday afternoon, so the line to pay was backed up. This bake shop is not very big, so it can feel a little crowded at times. The cashier tends to try to promote items (upsell) for you to purchase as you are checking out. The general area is a little sketchy as there are a bunch of homeless people walking around in the nearby streets and sometimes in the parking lot. Seafood City does hire security that hang out outside, so there is less homeless walking around near the stores and restaurants now. read more

I've been going to this bakery whenever I am craving for pandesal, hopia, and other Filipino pastries and different kinds of baked food. Pandesal is the best seller! There's also siopao, bibingka, puto, hopia, turon, leche flan, etc. Tastes like the ones in the Philippines! Small store located next to Seafood City and Jollibee. I'm from San Diego so I've been to all of the Valerio bakeries in National City and let me tell you, none of them compare to the one in Vallejo. Every time I go to visit my cousin who lives in Corte Madera I make it a point to buy their siopao pork at least 6 dozen of them to take back to San Diego. The dough is so much better as well as the pork filling. They freeze so well. Their wheat pandesal is even better from here. So much softer. I've tried practically everything there and they are all so delicious. I don't know if it's a chair or related somehow but this particular bakery in Vallejo gets a from me and highly recommended. Why is this place so delicious?!?!? I grew up in the V and having this as a bakery was just the thing. So when I moved out of the area, this was THE THING that I craved. When friends come to visit, they ask what they can bring and I always request the UBE BREAD from Valerio's, hands down. One thing we found out is that the ube bread is not put out until after 10am, so a close second is the coconut bread. Dishonest business. I bought several baked good from this establishment on Dec. 24, 2024. At the register, I noticed the cashier input the wrong price for two items ($8.99). When I questioned her, she insisted it is the correct price. I showed her the price tag on one of my items ($7.99) and another that was on the displace table. She still insisted that she input the correct price because "the price went up". Hhhmmm. I insisted on what was on the tag. She heaved and cancelled the transaction then wrung up all my items again, but sort of asked her coworker for the price on another item I had. The price on that item changed because she supposedly input a lower price earlier. I couldn't complain on that was because there was no price tag. The establishment inconsistently tagged their products. Most do not have any price tag. Their receipt is barely legible. The items are not clearly noted except for very few. Otherwise, it would say "open item", then the price they charge you for it. That means, they can put whatever amount they want and you'd have no idea which item you bought is that price. And, the price "increase" of a dollar more for each item might be because of the holiday and they know a lot of people will be buying baked goods. They were scalping their own products!! read more

Located in the seafood city parking lot between chow king and Jollibee. There is plenty of parking. Once inside you are overwhelmed with the amount of bread, pastries and dessert options around you. At first, I was the only one there and then more people started to arrive. It wasn't loud in there although I didn't notice much of the ambiance because I was looking at which items they had. They have shelves of goodies, a refrigerator in the back and a display case in front. I arrived knowing what I needed to get buy but of course I was distracted by other items. In this visit, I purchased mini chicken empanadas. They have a 10 piece and a 5 piece option. I chose the 10 piece. My mom also asked for the guava cream cheese bites (this also comes in blueberry and plain) this is mini sized and come in 8 I think. They also have large ones in the front display case. I picked up the taro ube bread (I couldn't resist, I love both!) It is 6 pieces of bread with taro inside. I did not have to wait in line long, it went pretty fast. The chicken empanadas are always moist and full of meat and veggies, these are delicious. The guava cream cheese was sweet. The filling wasn't equal but we weren't complaining. The taro ube bread was filled with taro, not too sweet but not enough ube for me. I think because the bread is purple that's what's considered "ube" ? I don't know. It's good but I would come back and try other ube options and they have plenty. I don't come often because it's across town for me but it's definitely a treat! read more

Very inattentive staff. Female cashier was on the phone while checking us out. She gave me the total. I handed her a $20 bill and she put it in her drawer. I waited for her to give me my change and she said she was waiting for me to pay. I told her I just handed you $20. She said no you didn't. After a few minutes of back and forth, person behind me in line spoke up and confirmed that I indeed gave her a $20 bill. She looked embarrassed and gave me my change. Did not even apologize. We bought a few things earlier, my sister in law and I tried this ube roll and thought it had a weird and sour taste to it. We smelled it and it is definitely spoiled!!! My family and I have been coming here for a very long time, since I was in my teens. I'm now 24, and I just returned yesterday for some of their buns that has the chilies and cream cheese in it. I took my boyfriend with me and hyped him up about the buns because they've been my favorite for a very long time. I don't know if there is a new owner, or if they just wanted to change the recipes due to Covid. But this place is NOT the same. Starting with the buns with the chilies and cream cheese, the lack of filling is so awful I can't even believe they put these on the shelves. It was definitely not enjoyable at all and not like the old ones. The bread is also a little harder then usual. It didn't feel as fresh. Another one of my favorite items was the hopia ube. They changed the look of it, it's a lot thicker now. They used to be smaller in size. You would think this would be an upgrade, but they also changed the filling. The filling lacks the richness it used to have. Tastes like they're lacking on the quality of the filling. I most likely will not be returning for this item. Or possibly not at all. We got some Ube buns , and they were okay, but again the bread is missing the element of freshness. It seems a little hard. Anyway, if you find a place like this that actually cares about the quality and freshness of their bread and food, please let me know. read more

I really don't have a lot of knowledge about Filipino baked goods, but if you have taste buds, it doesn't matter. The "Cheese Flower" is like a cupcake shaped sweet bread slathered with a butter cream cheese frosting that is lightly sweet and a tiny bit salty. Damn, that was good. Also tried the ube cupcakes and it's a fist fight for which one is better, though I think the cheese flower may win. This is not a place to visit when on a diet. UPDATE: I have now been introduced to the turon and WOW! A sweet banana piece wrapped in an eggroll type wrapper, deep fried, and then glazed, still leaving the turon crunchy. The best bakery in vallejo!!! Get ready to experience the customer service with old ladies ringing you up in the register--- No smile, no hi.. just plain old "i hate life and i hate you" look. Yep. I didn't even do nothin but say hello. This happens everytime and it just gives me a kick coz i know that this will happen already. It's just hella funny! I go back for the breads and cold treatment, its insanely hilarious! One thing that I do not like about this place is that they still have a minimum $10 if using credit card. I usually come in first thing in the morning ~8am . The door to the kitchen is right behind the cashier counter and it's always open. You can see through the kitchen area from just standing in front of the cashier . What really grossed me out , I saw how the siopao (stuff steam white bread) was being prepared . They would scoop the meat using their hands with no gloves nor a scooper and stuff the white rolled out bread and shape it with bare hands . It almost want me to vomit seeing this process . All these years I had been buying this for our family and never realized how they make them. All things came into my mind and how disgusted I was . I stopped buying the siopao since then.
