Wildly popular bakery located in the downtown Benicia area. There's a solid lunch menu with a good variety of items as well as lots of pastries and bread that you can purchase to go.. The space is pretty large. There's seating outside as well as a loft upstairs. It seems like people will come here to do a little work and studying as well. I came here a few times when I was working in the area. The first time I got the ham and butter sandwich on baguette since you can pretty much tell if you're gonna like the bakery based on that classic. On another visit, I got the focaccia salami sandwich. Both sandwiches were excellent. I also got a few pastries to go like a lemon meringue tart and a chocolate/ hazelnut torte. I also bought a few other breads to take home to my family. I honestly was pleased with everything I've gotten from there. Preordered for Pi(e) Day and it was so easy. You order and pay online, and you get to choose a pick up day and time. I love that! I was hoping to pick which pies to get but it is a pre-set savory box and a pre-set sweet box. Of course, I got one of each. Parking was a nightmare. I circled around twice to park at the end of a cross street. I arrived at the pick up window and waited a few minutes. I was a little concerned how to get this back to my car, but the boxes were smaller than anticipated. The photos of their pies on their social media seemed big but I wasn't at all disappointed. The price, however, was a little steep. Next time, I'll definitely be picky about which pies to get next time. I brought the treats over to share with family and it was such a hit! First time visiting this woman-owned small business in Benicia! It was only 10am and there was already a line almost out the door. BUT, the line moved very quickly. While you wait, you can grab the menus to look through that are posted near the displays. The front can feel a little bit congested when people are trying to go in and out the same entrance that a line is building up near. They've got everything from wine to pot pies and cakes to pizza. I wanted to order so many things but held back as much as I could. Since we came for late breakfast I was looking for something hearty. I ordered a chicken pot pie to go. It was still nice and warm after a 15 minutes drive home. The crust was very soft, flaky, and fairly thin. There was a generous serving of fresh veggies mixed into the filling which I definitely appreciated. It was seasoned well-- the black pepper shined through and the cream sauce wasn't too heavy. I also got a Passion Fruit Raspberry Coconut Tart. I've never had a dessert where the crust was made with shredded coconut. I'll definitely be seeking out more fun crust alternatives when I try out new bakeries now. I really loved the inner parts of the crust that had a nice chew from the coconut and the crispy edges of the crust as well. The passion fruit flavor was a bit mute but it was tart and refreshing. Holy goodness, I did not expect this place to be so damn good. Well, maybe the line out the door was a sign.... but I was still blown away by all their food. They are busy for a reason but the line moves fast. For food, their whipped yogurt parfait is probably top 3 things I have ever eaten in my life - no joke. The texture was amazing like eating fluffy ice cream - and the raspberry jam and granola were perfect pairings. Their sandwiches are huge and full of fresh, quality ingredients. We LOVED the chicken salad sandwich topped with lots of arugula and ended off with some delicious house made pastries. I went to this cute little bakery due to a recommendation from one of my close friends. I made sure to arrive right before the lunch rush. I ordered the muffuletta sandwich. I sat outside and waited about 6 minutes for it. It was truly excellent. The real star was the house made bread that it was served on. It was stuffed with provolone cheese, ham , salami and mortadella and an olive tapanade. It was very large. I ordered one as a birthday cake with cream cheese frosting. The frosting wasn't "cream cheesy" at all. The cake itself didn't have that "chunky " carrot cake taste or texture. I had brunch with my siblings here this past Sunday and had a wonderful time. The place has such an inviting setting with simple and charming decor and plenty of seating available, outdoor tables in the front and back of the cafe as well as two levels of indoor seating. We opted to sit upstairs, where there's a private restroom as well, so convenient. They have so many food and drink options to choose from on the menu along with an array of delectable pastries and desserts in the display case. Guests order at the register and pick up their items at the counter when it's ready. The line of customers got long at times, but also moved quickly. We got quite a few items while there, many of which the four of us shared. This includes the biscuit sandwich with bacon (so cheesy, with a runny egg, and a flaky buttery biscuit), veggie/cheese empanada which had a nice spiciness to it, roasted squash and gorgonzola salad, biscuit sandwich with ham, all day breakfast sandwich with bacon and a thick layer of scrambled eggs, vegan oatmeal filled with a variety of fresh fruits, snickerdoodle latte with oat milk served hot which was sweet and delicious, an iced mocha that had a strong chocolate flavor I loved, iced lavender oat latte, vanilla almond donut, apple fritter, bread pudding, and oatmeal cinnamon cookie. Everything we ordered was made of quality ingredients and so tasty. Thanks to my cousin sharing a Facebook post about Le Van Van, I took advantage of being near Benicia to not only check out this huge Labubu made entirely of bread(planned to be there through Halloween), but to also get my hands on some baked goodies from this bakery I've heard and read excellent reviews about! Seeing Le Van Van up close, I was like a child admiring this fantastic work of bread art! My friends, family, and I were already impressed by what we saw and read about from the ABC 7 article. Le Van Van is clearly a labor of love and it brought me so much joy to see it up close and admire its details. Seeing children and adults posing with Le Van Van like I did put a huge smile on my face! What a clever way to welcome customers to your bakery! The staff are attentive and patient and helped me choose my pastries, based on my asking which are their most popular items. I bought some macarons and shortbread cookies too, which were temptingly and perfectly placed near the checkout area. The savory toffee pudding is delectable! Labubu is actually a line of collectible plush toys. To me, they're ugly and scary-looking - with sharp teeth, large ears and a scruffy appearance. The fact that they're so famous is possibly due in part of their looks, and of course, in combination of celebrity endorsements, hence creating a collectible frenzy. The idea of making a Labubu character out of bread was so well thought out. The positioning of the giant bread sculpture at the front entrance brought throngs of curious folks to this eatery. One House Bakery is a charming eatery in the heart of Benicia. They serve pastries and sweet breads, plus coffee and lunch. Its dog-friendly patio seating is cute and welcoming. A popular joint for the locals and visitors alike, you need to go early to get a table. My favourite item there is their Almond Croissants. It's been said that they use no products that contain artificial food coloring, stabilizers or preservatives. As for the Labubu, it did not disappointment me. I think the last time was some time around Covid so I waited forever in line but never got to view a selection from the glass or step inside the store...Lemme tell u! Huge difference! I wanted to share my family's first experience at One House Bakery this morning because it was really disappointing, especially after coming in because of a gift certificate and a recommendation from someone who had a great experience. Everything seemed fine until we opened the pastry box in the car to give my daughter her pull-apart bread and found long strands of hair baked into it. We brought the box back in and simply asked for the pastries to be remade, which the cashier handled politely and professionally. The problem was that while the order was being remade, I watched the contaminated pastries being placed back into the new box. I had to step back up and point it out. The cashier corrected the confusion, but the person remaking the order gave me dirty looks while replacing the pastries with fresh ones. That part honestly bothered me almost as much as the hair. Mistakes happen, but once food is contaminated, it should not be reused, and a customer should not be made to feel like a problem for asking that their order be safely replaced. This was our first visit. We used a $50 gift certificate, but after the remaining balance and tip, the order came to almost $80 for 10 donut holes, three pastries, and a breakfast sandwich. At that price point, the experience should have been much better. Unfortunately, the final pull-apart bread was also hard as a rock once we finally received one without hair in it. I really wanted to like this place, but this was expensive, underwhelming, and uncomfortable. I hope the owners take food safety and customer experience seriously, because this was not the first impression I expected. read more

This used to be one of my favorite places, but my recent experience completely changed my opinion. An older employee named Lisa was extremely rude and unprofessional. She actually yelled at me in front of other customers, claiming I took too long to pick up my food and had been paged multiple times. The issue is, their pager was not working properly. It never buzzed, only showed a red light. I come here often, so I'm very familiar with how their pager system is supposed to work. Instead of acknowledging that there might be a problem, she chose to scold me like I was a child. What made it worse was the complete lack of accountability. There was no apology, just continued blame. Based on how management responds to other reviews, it seems like this kind of behavior is encouraged, where staff assume they are always right regardless of the situation. I will never know if their food is good or not because their staff has, apparently, been trained to be unhelpful and rude. I was hassled about adding stevia to my latte, and I was treated like it was weird of me to ask for such a thing. I was told that although they serve both iced black tea and iced lemonade, that i could not order a half lemonade and half iced tea. I was treated rudely by at least one staff member and the manager I know they don't care because their profit margins are through the roof, but they lost a $70 take out sale for gussied-up flour and a customer for life today. Hands down the best bakery in town! My ultimate favorite place. My family go there every time we are downtown. Ordering 1 item is hard. I once went in there to solely get coffee, but couldn't resist on ordering some desserts, pastries, and sandwiches for later. I have yet to order something I didn't like. There's also two lines, one for in-person dining, another for pick up. There's plenty of seating and things to look at! Outside front seating, balcony seating, seating toward the bakers, and patio seating. You can sit near the windows to watch bakers make the next batch. There's two rocking chairs at the lowest level outside. So many picturesque places, with different vibes for silent reading, light conversation, etc. The caramel latte is pretty good, and so are the baked goods. Plenty of boxes, paper bags, utensils, etc. to make the stay enjoyable. Staff is also super friendly and knowledgeable. There is a 2.5% charge if you use credit card. Top favorite cafe outside of the Bay Area. Walking in feels like I'm in Cupertino or Palo Alto again. Love coming here, and will always bring guests with me. read more
