TL;DR: Took my car to Valet Auto Body for a minor repair. When I picked it up, a dashboard control was visibly broken. I really wish I had a better experience with Valet Auto Body, but unfortunately I was sorely disappointed with their lack of accountability and customer care. I cannot recommend this shop to anyone and urge others to think twice before trusting this business with their vehicle. I brought my car in for a minor repair and everything initially went smoothly. They worked with my insurance, and after a week and a half, I was able to pick up my car. Shane, the tech I spoke with, walked me through what was done and handed me the keys. However, as soon as I got back into the driver's seat, I noticed a control on my dashboard was visibly broken and no longer functioning properly., I immediately went back into the shop and pointed it out to Shane, who came out to inspect the issue. He agreed the control was broken, took accountability for the damage, and even compared it to the check-in photos, confirming that the damage was done while the car was in their possession. Shane assured me they'd make it right and suggested I contact the dealership to determine the best solution. I spent considerable time calling every dealership on the Wasatch Front to find the most reasonable repair option for Valet because I genuinely wanted to be fair about the situation. The dealerships all confirmed that the damage was significant and required the entire gauge cluster to be replaced, amounting to thousands of dollars in parts and labor. When I returned to Valet and asked to speak with Shane, he wasn't available, so I spoke with Trace, the owner. This is where everything took a disappointing turn. Despite Shane's earlier assurances, Trace completely changed the narrative. He refused to take responsibility for the damage to my vehicle, dismissively calling it "weird" and claiming his employees wouldn't have a reason to be my dashboard. (Shane had previously mentioned that it likely happened when they were cleaning my dash--a service I neither requested nor consented to.) Trace repeatedly emphasized that he couldn't justify spending thousands of dollars on a repair for a job that only brought in a couple hundred for his shop. Instead of apologizing or showing any sympathy, he attempted to shift blame by suggesting the control "delaminated" due to a "known issue," which it absolutely is not. I thoroughly researched this claim through Reddit, car forums, and by consulting four different dealerships. The control had worked perfectly for over a year, with daily use, and there were no signs of pre-existing issues. To make matters worse, Trace suggested I attempt to get the dealership to cover the repair under warranty, which felt like an unfair and unprofessional way to avoid taking accountability by pawning it off as a defective piece. At the end of the day, I trusted a local, independent auto body shop to handle a simple bumper repair and ended up with thousands of dollars in unexpected damage. Best customer service ever! So you know how Zappos (yeah the shoe people) is like the king of customer service? Well this is the Zappos of auto shops! I had an incident where something fell off a truck in front of me. Well my insurance adjuster came and said pick a shop and we will tow it there. Well I've never had car problems out here and had no clue on who to pick. But my baby was sitting there bleeding transmission fluid everywhere. So I was searching Google and my coworker was searching Yelp while we were supposed to be working... Shhh don't tell. And then the clouds parted and we see this shop with 37 5 star reviews and one bad one. So what do I do you ask? I checked out the bad review of course, duh. Now the bad review sucked and I was like oh wait the owner replied and gave perfect customer service and did everything a person righting a wrong would do!!! So I called. Called in talked to Shane. Who sounds totally cute btw. He gave me perfect customer service! He listened to my problem. He asked detailed questions. Gave me a timeline. He also advised me that they may have to send her out for the transmission work and where they would send it. Offered to tow my car. Also asked if I had a rental. Which I did not. Then offered to see if they had a loaner available. But they did not. But but... He put me on the loaner list! I was like hell yeah this shop rocks!! Mind you this was a week and a half ago. But I knew it would be a bit because he set up that expectation. So last week Stephanie calls me and says they have a loaner they are cleaning up just for me!!! Yay no more rides with the roomie! Stephanie was super sweet and caring. Then Dave brings me the loaner car which is a 2012 ford fiesta. I was super happy it wasn't a hoopty. Dave super nice. Asked how I heard about them. I said I found you on Yelp. Ok Jan did but this is my review so I'm taking the credit! He said that's awesome! We try to take care of the person not just the car. Ok Dave was cute too but I think he was married. I asked Dave if I am taking him back to the shop. But he's like nope my Uber is on its way and poof he was gone. Then Shane called with the estimate. I looked around on Yelp for an auto body shop to fix the damage on my car and found this gem. They had 5 stars and everyone in the reviews mentioned that the customer service was the best. I gave it a go and brought my car here. I thought I was going to have to shop around for an auto body place afterwards, but I was sold. The customer service was amazing from start to finish. Nicole helped me out when I first arrived and was VERY knowledgeable about everything! My driver door wouldn't open due to the damage and she asked someone to fix it right away (without charge or the obligation to pick them). She could've asked someone to fix it after we confirmed to go with them, but she did it to ease our life instead of just thinking about profit. Moreover, she contacted the insurance company right away to discuss further things on our behalf. She didn't delay anything and got right to it. This shop kept in constant contact with the insurance company and handled everything for me. They would also text me updates and was very responsive to every question I texted them. Shane and Callie helped me out on the texting end and whenever I called in, he was super nice and informed on the phone. All I needed to do was sit back and relax honestly. I knew this shop had my best interest in mind and communicated it thoroughly. After picking up my car, it looks as if nothing ever happened to it. I want to start off by saying that my experience with Valet, and Shane specifically, had been fantastic leading up to this point. Shane understands the art of GOOD customer service and has gone above and beyond to make sure I've understood every aspect of the repair process, while keeping the customer experience in mind every step of the way. I've worked with Valet 3X now. After the first repair - where a car had reversed into both doors on the driver's side of my car while it was parked on the street - I picked the car up. It looked smooth, sparkly and pretty again! Everything seemed to be all good. That very next morning (a Saturday), I went to take my son to Taekwondo class and the lock mechanism on the driver's door would not open. I was locked out of my car! I immediately contacted Shane and he went above and beyond to come help me get things corrected. He got me into my car and saved the day, with no complaints and all while on his weekend. While my son did miss his class, Shane did all in his power to help. Today, I went to open my back door on the driver's side and something associated with the lock - or the mechanism connecting the door handle to the latch hook - detached and fell down inside the door panel. So, I gave Valet Auto a call to see if they were able to look at the vehicle and make sure the lock issue was not a case of a step that was possibly missed during reinstallation, being that they had to removed my door panel and lock when fixing the rear door. I spoke with a lady named Callie, she was kind and professional during our initial conversation. After making arrangements to bring my car in today at noon to have it looked at, we ended the call. She then called me back about 20 minutes later to explain that she had spoken with Shane about what was going on and that he believed the lock mechanism issue was not associated with the work done on my rear door. He also said that it would not be covered with the work that was done as that part was simply removed and reinstalled and was not defective or damaged itself. I then explained to Callie that I was not concerned about the lock itself being defective. Although, if that was the case, I would 100% be responsible for that. I made my understanding of this clear to her. Rather, my concern was that maybe a step was missed in the reinstallation process and that I don't open that door often so it possibly took a while for the issue to surface. I was simply looking for clarification and accountability if it were to be, in fact, something that was caused during the work that was done by Valet. I feel like, during the course my conversation with Callie she kept repeating over and over, while speaking over me repeatedly, that the warranty would not cover a failed lock mechanism. It had to be repeated to her many times that I was not concerned about a warranty of the lock but rather needed to confirm the reinstallation was done properly. Very quickly into that 2nd call, it became clear that she was leaning 90% toward the issue not being their fault and about 10% open to the idea that the lock was reinstalled improperly. From a customer service stand-point, being that a tech had not physically gotten down into the door panel to confirm one way or the other, I felt it extremely unprofessional that she was delivering such an imbalanced assumption and making me feel like I was a criminal. Shane told me that Valet backs their work so, it felt like a normal thing to let them know what was going on and have them check it out to confirm. This was definitely not how I was treated. I expressed to Callie how I perceived her customer service approach and let her know that I felt as though I was being treated like a criminal. Ultimately, after going in circles with her and getting nowhere, I decided it would be in my best interest to take my business to another shop where I could get a concrete and unbiased answer to the cause of the issue as Valet seemed to have predetermined that they made no mistake on the reinstallation without anyone looking at the panel. I will gladly pay someone else to get into the door panel to confirm the issue but, I will never go back to that shop again despite how incredible Shane has been to work with. I walked away with an extremely poor taste in my mouth due to Callie's lacking customer service skills and complete unawareness of how her communication was being perceived by me, the customer. The utter lack of professionalism in speaking over me, not listening to the actual /specific concern (improper installation, NOT a defective part issue) and addressing a verdict with no foundation to a concern different from what I was trying to explain, was just too much for me on this nice Wednesday. Very disappointed, would not recommend working with Callie. Shane is fantastic! Giving a 2 star rating because I don't feel it's fair to discount the entire company for Callie's behavior. This place offers high value for what they charge. There was a bit of a miscommunication on details, however, they gave me a discount for that and also washed and vacuumed my car, fixed a glass chip in my windshield, and shined some of my trim on top of the repairs. SO really in the end I got a great deal. They were also very responsive with emails calls and text. I was paying cash and they gave me a rental car (so nice to have as an option!) and didn't even charge me for using it. I will use them again. read more

So happy we went with Valet. Their service was excellent and they addressed all our concerns and fears, plus were extremely informative about everything with our insurance claim. We had somebody hit us while our car was parked and they didn't leave their insurance info. State Farm tried to make us go to one of their select shops and use hertz, but we HATE Hertz in Salt Lake because of their terrible broken rental cars and bad service, but Valet was able to get us in quick, set us up with a rental from Enterprise that billed our insurance directly, and even called for them to come pick us up!! We only had to wait like 3-5 minutes for the car to arrive and we were on our way. They also kept us informed of our car's progress the whole way through and in the end the only thing we had to pay was our insurance deductible. When I picked up the car, the new headlight they installed was crystal clear and so our old headlight looked really faded in comparison. I asked what to do about that and they worked their magic and made it as pristine as the new headlight within 10-15 min, while they were busy, AND FOR FREEEE! Auto-body damage is such a pain, but knowing Valet has my back is a huge comfort. Also they have the CUTEST SHOP DOG!!! She is just the sweetest little thing. read more

My daughter used a passenger door on our LR3 as her art mural, her paint brush was a rock We took it in to Valet and they buffed everything out and it looks better than before. We were so happy with it, I took the car back to them the next week to see if they could make the headlights look cleaner as it had a ton of that yellowish residue. I had tried a number of different things on them to no avail so my expectations weren't that high. But Shane worked his magic and they look brand new! He saved me from buying new ones (about $900). My repairs weren't anything major, but I suspect that it would be the exact same experience. So happy I found my go to auto body shop. read more

These guys are amazing. I have a 1985 4runner that needed some work done to it to get it ready for a custom rear bumper. The previous owner of the 4Runner had essentially welded on some stuff that needed to be cut off before I could install the new bumper. Other shops in the area recommended I try Valet Auto Body as they had the tools necessary to get the work done and I'm glad I did. They were able to take the 4Runner in that day and performed the work flawlessly. They even let me have the new bumper delivered to their shop free of charge. If you have read some of my other auto body reviews you may know that I have successfully had my car in the shop every winter since 2006. This winter has also started off with a bang after I did a 180 on the freeway and hit the center divider at 1 in the morning. I still love the snow though. I had my car towed to McNeil's because it was too snowy to get it taken to Orem, and the tow truck driver recommended McNeil's. The shop was closed so I had to leave it there, and hope it was safe until morning. At 8 AM I got a call from Trace, the owner of the shop, who offered to setup my rental car through my car insurance and pick me up since Enterprise would not drive 30 minutes to get me. I was a little surprised the owner of the shop would drive an hour round trip to pick me up, but I guess he wanted my business. I got a call at 8:30 from my insurance company telling me my car was going to be totaled so I called Trace back to tell him I was not going to need him to fix my car. After hearing the bad news about my car he still offered to pick me up even though I was not going to be getting my car fixed at his shop. WTF? Awesome. Trace drove 30 minutes to come and get me and 30 minutes back to Enterprise so that I could get a rental car. He did not get any business from me, but I am definitely going to McNeils from now on because of their awesome customer service. read more

Note: This company is also known as McNeil's My neighbor's insurance company used these guys and she needed a ride to go get her car when it was repaired. Her Volvo looked brand new. The way they detail the cars when the repairs are finished is spectacular. I took my 2001 Dodge Dakota that gets outdoors on rugged terrain a lot (lots of scratches), and had them repair my grill and fully detail the truck. It was incredible. I know in a previous post they over rode an insurance company and insisted on Honda parts, but I was paying for my own repair and it was just a grill, so I wanted to save money. They found an aftermarket grill and matched the paint to my truck. I think I will drive the truck for another 10 years now. read more

I fully echo the sentiments of the previous reviewer - this place is great. My 1999 Honda Prelude developed a leak in the backseat with an unknown origin. Other body shops said they'd take a look at it and see what they could find, but really didn't say much that inspired me with hope that they would actually be able to solve the problem. Rob, who answered the phone, threw out a few hypotheses, and said he'd be happy to take a look at it at no cost. Turns out that they were able to diagnose and fix the problem for $100 out the door, while other places were saying that it would probably be a few hours of digging around before they could even FIND the problem, yet alone fix it. Customer service was through the roof. Was introduced to the entire staff, including the owner, by Rob who was courteous and helpful on the phone. I had just purchased a new Lexus RX350. Two days into my enjoyment, i was traveling down I-15. The semi in front of me hits a large 1" rubber mat in the road, which becomes airbourne and lands squarely on my front hood and bumper. The damage to the hood, quarter panel, and bumper was extensive. Valet took the time to not only assess the damage, but made sure to consider the electronics in the bumper sensors, and cameras that need to be fixed. They did not miss a single detail. They worked directly with my insurance company and took the hassle away from me. That was awesome! They also notified me (not my insurance company, which i won't name) that i had additional coverages that would allow me to get a rental for the time they would have my car. That was a heaven send.
