After coming to her for measurements and a brief discussion on what style, cut, and fit I would like, she made a gorgeous and comfortable blouse from the fabric. (I got so many compliments!!) She was also able to take the sleeves off of another sari blouse I had at short notice. I appreciate her willingness to help, even with a tight turnaround! BEWARE!!! I should have read the negative reviews. My experience is exactly that...negative. I called prior to coming to confirm if they did alterations for sarees and got a yes from the owner. I scheduled a time to come in. Easy-peasy, right?!?! WRONG!!!! I came with a friend who also needed the same premade saree altered (it was only the length). Within the first minute, the owner came on strong and was rude. It caught me off guard. She was stern and said she told me the following in the phone, which was a lie. Had she shared these, I would have never come. - She doesn't have time to do alterations with her upcoming India trip in 2 weeks - She only has time to make alterations on outfits purchased from her After this rant, I did tell her she didn't share any of this. She said that's not true, but nonetheless, she'll do the alterations. I live in the Valley and did not have time to drive to Artesia for the recommendation provided. I need alterations so I suck it up and continue on. I put on my saree, come out and she tells me I'm wearing it wrong. I ask her to help, but she refuses because it wasn't purchased from her and it's not her job. She is angry, I can see it in her face and you can hear it in her tone. If you refuse to touch the garment, how can you alter it?!?! It was 1000% clear she was not willing to help us out. I said I'll change and we'll get going. While I was changing, she tells my friend that she would have to "redo" everything, WILL teach us how to wear a saree for a price, and it'll be $100. But you know, this is A LOT for her to do and she's doing us the favor. WE WOULD HAVE PAID $100!!! I feel like she expected us to say yes and be thankful after all the gaslighting, but when I said we'll figure it out, she continued her rhetoric. I was planning on leaving without a word, but at this point, I couldn't hold it back anymore. I told her price wasn't a problem, it was because she was rude. This is where it gets worse.... Her tone changes and now she's a sweet, caring auntie. She tries to hug me!!! I put out my arms with palms facing out, telling her she's invading by my personal space and to back off. My arms are short so my attempt to rebuke her fails with her hands gripping my shoulders. She does not back off!!! She says...why are you mad because I'm not? Obviously, you are in my personal space after I asked you in a trembly voice, multiple times, to BACK OFF and STOP TOUCHING ME!!! She eventually backs off, says she doesn't want me to leave unhappy. What a bunch of poppycock! read more

I was nervous about finding a tailor for my wedding saree in Los Angeles and I called ahead and then visited Vallabh. It was an extremely disappointing experience. I don't often leave reviews, but I found them to be rude and abrupt. They didn't listen to what I wanted and as someone who needed guidance, as this was the first time I was doing this by myself, I was asking very valid questions and then in the end I was told quite rudely that I could "go somewhere else." There are ways to communicate that can be friendly and polite and this experience was the complete opposite. read more

I was looking for a local place I could find an outfit for a Henna Party. She was so helpful and was so accommodating. She had so many outfits to choose from and all the color that anyone could want. I found the perfect outfit and she was able to alter it right away! It was too good to be true that we found her because we had to attend the henna party the next day. I explained what I needed and she pulled out two outfits. I tried the first one on and the color was amazing and everything fit perfect except for a little pulling in the bust. I was in an Indian wedding and my friend had purchased the fabric for my saree in India, I just needed to find a tailor to make the blouse for me. I found Vallabh Imports on yelp and made the trek from Camarillo. Note that this business is operated out of her home, so just be sure to call ahead to let her know when you want to come in so she's available. The converted garage is stocked with beautiful outfits, fabrics, jewelry and more. It was amazing! I showed her a few ideas on Pinterest, she took my measurements and then left my fabric with her. It only took about 2 weeks and my blouse was ready! It was more beautiful than I could have ever expected. She attached ornaments to the ties and sewed in a built in bra so the blouse was functional and fashionable. I also picked up some bangles and got tips on how to appropriately stack them. All the Indian aunties and cousins at the wedding were so impressed and loved the work she did! I can't wait for the opportunity to wear this again! I needed a sari for my close friend's wedding. As she was marrying a man from India, I needed Indian clothing for her upcoming marriage ceremony. I met Valdana, the owner, who immediately brought several options for me to try, including kurta, salwar kameez, and saris. She was very patient and helped me with the different outfits, letting me know how to wear the pieces and which were appropriate for weddings. I had a few other places to check, but I found that the quality and the fact that Valdana could make my pieces custom were enough to bring me back. While the pieces were in no way cheap, you have to remember that she will custom the pieces to your body and they end up being very flattering. Since I am not a standard size, I ended up back here to get measured for my sari. It turned out absolutely beautiful. I had several people come to me during the reception to tell me how beautiful the sari was and how lovely I looked. I am so thrilled I ended up purchasing from here, and will be back again if my friend holds another event and I need more Indian clothing! Vandana was absolutely amazing! I ordered a Saree to wear for one of my best friend's wedding and, to my biggest surprise, it came completely unfinished so I had to find a tailor in my area only 2 days before the wedding. I met with Vandana Friday morning, she took my measurements and promised to have it ready on time for the wedding (which required her to postpone some other work and work until midnight on Saturday). But my Saree was ready Sunday morning and I could not be happier! She created a ready-made version of it so that it was very easy to put on and I only had the last part of the wrapping to take care of, she gave me advice on how to place the pins, how to cover my hair for the temple etc... Based on reviews, this location was praised to have great customer service and great pricing. It was a little odd going into a private residence, but it was very neat and organized. All the reviews were right. I met with the husband since the wife was out of the country, and he was extremely helpful and was able to answer cultural questions that I had.
