Reene was amazing to work with and my dress alterations came out stunning!! I met with Reene about 5 times through the process and did about 6 or 7 alterations to the dress. But she doesn't pressure you, has great recommendations, gives ample time for appts and is incredibly reasonably priced. There's a reason she's been in business so long and I would highly recommend her. Some things we altered to the dress included taking it in multiple times to get that right fitting (the dress was basically a size too big and I kept losing weight). The lace with detailing on the bottom made it very time consuming for her to hem, but she did it with such care as if it was her own without taking any easy way out. She also added off the shoulder straps with the extra fabric and offered to make my veil (unfortunately I already had one or I would have taken her up on it). I valued all her opinions along the way as if she was my own grandma. But especially when it came to what the best bustle was going to be. This review is long overdue. Reene, you were absolutely amazing with my entire experience! You were accommodating, sweet, funny & knew EXACTLY what I wanted/ needed with great suggestions! On the initial phone conversation, I was a little flustered because other seamstresses that I spoke to beforehand, said that I HAD to have all of my undergarments & heels to wear for my wedding or else my dress would not come out nice & being about four months away from my wedding date, I started to freak out. I called Reene & she was so experienced, calm & made me feel completely different than the others- I immediately chose to go with her. Reene told me that the important part to have was the shoes or at least heels that were the same height & to let her know if I plan to lose anymore weight so she makes sure my dress would be perfect. Reene altered my wedding dress by trimming all of my onion layers (she called them rose petals but I insisted on onions because there were so many!) & suggested a hoop to be added at the bottom- she said that she'd add it & if I didn't like it, she'd remove it. Nope! She was right (like always) & the hoop was a very nice, convenient touch. She suggested little touches I can make to have my veil pop & of course we did them &, again, she was right! She sewed in some padding so that I didn't have to worry about a bra or corset which I loved. Her pricing was fair & she also altered my mother's dress & my bridal party (total of 6, including mine), everything was done early & on time. A special touch with Reene is that I was worried about practicing my first dance without a large enough dress to wear so we can take my dress into account & she lent me this large skirt thing that was pretty much the size of my dress poof. I have only a few things to complain. Besides her poor manners and sarcastic humor- I could get past that if the job is done well- I felt my 3 appointments to see her were a hassle because of the poor quality my gown was completed. When I got home I was lucky to have found the 5 pins left on the bottom on my gown. The straps were still not fitted well and one strap ripped off completely 30 min before my ceremony (I was lucky to have brought my own needle & thread to sew it quick ‍). I noticed my dress looked a bit more dirty when I got to take it home. Renee said I shouldn't take it to the cleaners since it's "not dirty at all". I also did not like how my cup size was not fitted well. Renee kinda impatiently rushes me each appointment to pick what cup I want or how I want my straps tightened. Maybe it's be best if she brings her workers to do the fitting she may be losing her touch. I give her 3 stars bcuz idk I'm nice? I want to give her 1 bcuz the price was not worth it at all and my dress was super low maintenance (tule cut one length, straps inserted, cups sewed in). To be honest, I was really disappointed by my consultation appointment. I brought in my dress to try on and get opinions of how we should alter it for my November wedding. I bought my dress a little over a year ago and have lost some weight, so I knew it wasn't going to fit as well as when I bought it. When I called over the phone, I let her know what shoes I was bringing (white platform converse) and she said "Are you sure I can't talk you out of those?". I was frustrated but stayed firm that I really wanted to wear them, and she said okay. Fast forward to putting on the dress and pulling out my shoes at her home, and she was relentless about how she wants to talk me out of my converse and if I just "get a two inch heel", she won't even have to trim my dress. I am not someone who can wear heels, so I was really upset that she wouldn't stop pestering me about my shoe choice. Then, when I came out in my dress, the first comments she made were about how much of my cleavage was showing and how I needed to "cover up" for my fiance. I didn't buy the damn dress for modesty, I am a busty person and it's totally in my style. She wanted to then add bra cups to it that didn't fit, or even sew in an entire bra, and suggested we should cover up more of my cleavage with extra lace (and then complained about how difficult my lace would be to work with and said she wouldn't be able to take my dress in due to the lace). After I said no to sewing a bra into a sheer & lace top, she said boob tape would lift them enough to not have to alter the dress (When I got home, I tried boob tape and it didn't do a thing). Lastly, she said we simply could not bustle my dress due to the length, and instead wanted to cut off the entire train to just be a "puddle" and add a hoop to the underskirt. I didn't even know what that meant but I really didn't want to cut off my train, and I felt like she wasn't giving me any other option. No matter how many times she said it was my dress and I make the final decision, it felt like she wasn't going to do what I wanted and couldn't even alter the dress, so she was just suggesting the least amount of work possible for herself. I'm very glad I found another seamstress who was able to alter the top with no problem, didn't shame my body or my choices, and was able to create a beautiful bustle without insisting I cut it all off. Thanks to everyone who stuck around to this ending- I have been feeling so much stress and anxiety from this appointment that I thought I would need to buy an entire new dress, and I wanted to share my experience. Reene is a fairy godmother! After going to a tailor recommended by the bridal shop I purchased my dress at in Thousand Oaks, I was very discouraged about having my wedding dress altered. The man at that shop seemed so disinterested in me, turned down the bustle I requested, came up with outrageous prices for what should have been a simple hem and bustle, and then rudely dismissed the other dress modifications I was considering. I turned to Yelp and gave Renee a call... Best decision! I told Renee the modifications I was considering- adding cold shoulder straps and something to the back of the dress to change the line into more of a "V" shape. Rather than dismissing my ideas like the other tailor, she said, we can make it work. Nothing was too much or too little for her to do (which I am sure comes from her decades of experience). She added the cold shoulder straps from the leftover hem material from my dress and used tulle she had on hand to create the illusion of the "V" line on my back. Resourceful and experienced. I especially appreciated how honest she was about what not to do to keep the integrity of the dress, what undergarments to wear, etc. She gets to the point, and I love that. I had about 4 fittings. The first two were just pinning, but that was fine because I enjoyed her company and she does not charge for each fitting. I also sent both of my sisters to her to hem their bridesmaids dresses. Her prices are so reasonable and she was very quick to do their dresses (one sister waited until the week of the wedding). Reene turned what started as a terrible experience into a wonderful experience with AMAZING results.
