I live pretty close to this restaurant, but never tried it until my Mother-in-law came down from Chicago to visit us. It's interesting how having a guest can open a person up to new things in his or her hometown. After eating here, everyone in our family loved it and wondered why we had not tried it before! Best Mexican food in town!! The ambiance is really cool, they have custom made furniture from Mexico. The green and habanero salsa is amazing. Their queso is sooooo good. We love the asada fries, tacos, enchiladas, skillets, chicken delight, kids love the burgers too. The pastor is delicious and juicy. The asada has amazing flavor. The chips are just the right thickness, not too thin, not too thick. The service is great, the servers are always helpful and customer focused. Reasonable prices too! read more

Friendly service with lackluster flavors. Surprisingly low quality considering how full the parking lot was. I ordered an enchilada plate with rice and beans. I also split chips and salsa with a friend. The chips were okay. I did not like the salsa. The cheese and beef enchiladas were okay. The rice was okay. The beans were thick and not good. This was my second trip to Vallarta. I didn't review the first trip because they had just opened and it was not a good experience. Much better this time. I had the ground beef stuffed poblano with rice, beans and guacamole. There were also two tortillas. It was a lot of food with a lot of flavor. I will order this again. The chips are also great but I'm not a fan of the salsa. It's not too hot but the flavor was just off for me. My best option is to get it to go and sauce it up at home. read more

Brightly lighted environment. Greeted quickly. Seat Yourself setting. Clean area. Cartoons playing on two of the three TVs, 3rd TV playing Big Bang Theory. We ordered Menudo, Carne Guisada with rice and beans, Shrimp Cocktail. Chips and Salsa were brought to the table after seating. Salsa lacks flavor, tasted like tomato sauce with onions. Shrimp Cocktail was served with slices of avocado (which was the best part), the shrimp were firm, and refreshing, the sauce was very sweet. They served extra bottles of salsa verde (it was sweet) and salsa rojo (it was sweet but less than the verde). The carne guisada was chewy, lacked flavor, rice and beans tasted like they were from a can. Not a great food find. The bathroom was clean. The restaurant is clean. They need to work on food flavor. If you're looking for Arrandas type food, this is not it. If you want quick Mexican style dishes without the spice/heat then this is your place. We prefer Mexican food with the flavors, the spice, the Gusto! Sorry, we will not return. We wish you luck and prosperity. read more

We went for Taco Tuesday and were very satisfied with the food. The crispy tacos were stuffed with beef and cheese and they only cost $1.00 each. Our waiter was great and very personable. The restaurant is very clean and the booths are comfortable. I would highly recommend this to everyone. They also have drink specials and happy hour. read more

This was my second time getting food from here. Both occasions I went through the drive through for take out. The drive through tends to get a bit backed up but they are making things fresh to order so it it understandable and the drive through option is convenient. I will say that the food is good and there are large portions for what you pay. So overall good value and flavor. This day I got chilaquiles - I took my second bite and found plastic cooked into the food. I personally will not return because I cannot look past that. It could have been a 1 off and I understand that mistakes can happen in the kitchen but this could be extremely dangerous for any children eating. My family and I will not return. read more

When this place first opened I was thrilled! I have been a customer of Arrandas on 34th for years but I live in southwest Lubbock, so this location was so much closer. Arrandas is parent company of Vallarta. My first few visits, everything was delicious. But my last several visits have changed! No green sauce on bland tasting green chile enchiladas, no tortillas for the average tasting carne guisada. They never include the pill cup size of sauce that all other Mexican food places provide. I'm done with this one. Arranda, you better get over here and save this place! read more

The main issue was our waitress. She definitely did not have service personality. She never smiled and they run your card before seeing the total. When I asked her if she liked paying before seeing her tab she never said a word just said, " it comes after." The food was mediocre. Chicken enchilada was definitely canned chicken. The taco shell was hard. Beef Taco meat was mushy and had potato filler which I know is traditional in some parts of Mexico. The meat was bland . So someone please tell me what you had that was good. Amazing overhaul of the Heff's burger location. The dining area was well done with tables in the center area and booths around the walls. The corner booths were ready for larger dining parties over 4. Waitress was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly with some suggestions of customer favorites. Even the kitchen staff took the time to thank us for coming as they finished taking out the trash and heading into back of the building. Menu is extensive and includes breakfast selection with a cutoff time around 11:00. The menu includes all the usual Mexican choices, but if you wanting to widen your experience try the gems that tantalize pallet like the barrias or molecajetes. Don't be afraid to ask how these choices are eaten. I had the #60 barrias that came with a dipping bowl of flavor filled liquid. After the first taco, I asked and found out it's not a soup, but a dipping bath for the tacos. Similar to a French dip sandwich, but carne asada, cheese in a shell that you dip into the liquid. It's excellent. Beverages available are traditional with choices for adults after a long day. Going to be a neighborhood favorite, with customers from all over. read more
