I've driven past this spot so many times and we decided to finally give it a try - it wasn't very busy so there was no wait to be seated and our server was nice and welcoming. The chips and salsa are good - the chips were fresh and the salsa had good flavor. I had the shredded beef chimichanga for lunch - the cheese sauce on the chimichanga was really tasty and they put a generous amount on there, I really enjoyed the flavor of the shredded beef as well, would definitely order it again. My kids had the chicken ranch quesadilla and the kids chicken tenders and they both devoured their plates, so I'll take that as both of their dishes were delicious as well. The food came out quickly and our server stopped in and checked on us just the right amount of times. Went with a party of 7 and had a pleasantly good experience. 2 kids in the party got typical hamburger and hot dog with fries. Everyone else got a variety of burritos. I got the Maravilla and it was pretty good. Meat was well seasoned and the avocado was ripe...plus, plus. The chips and salsa were gobbled up by the table, so that's a solid appetizer. Went hereon a Friday night to try it out. We lost our Dale Mabry location when it closed suddenly without notice. This location was a step up from our old location and the place was packed. Our server was nice and helpful and we had our food fast. While the food was a little different from the other location we enjoyed our meal and would certainly return. We came for dinner on a Friday night. Though it was full of patrons, we did not have to wait for a table and were seated immediately. Try this place with a friend the other day. I'm a Texan, so I know good Tex-Mex, and this place has got it! I had the big burrito. I can't remember what it's called and my friend had shrimp enchiladas. We also had a small queso, which in my opinion is too expensive, but it was all good. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times because it is near our home. Both times food was terrible. Over salty and red sauce poured straight from a cold can. A lot of the $16.95 combos don't even include rice and beans. The chili relleno is a soggy green pepper filled with over salty ground beef unless you "upgrade" but even then I'm not sure it would be good. We arrive at 7:15 on a Tuesday. Yes, it was slow, but they were open until 9:30. We were hinted "we close soon". Menus dropped, chip and red sauce provided. No request if we wanted queso dip or any appetizers. Drop menus and left (Waiter was FAR from "overloaded", they were prepping for close - at least 7 other tables occupied). Finally he returned with water. Ordered 2 regular Margaritas. Rot gut teqella! Wife ordered tostata - no tomato. Beef was processed from a bag, tasted horrible! I ordered a taco salad. I don't like to chew 1/2 head lettuce, so I asked it lettuce be chopped up fine. Thought I asked to fly to Mexico for special ingredients. Response "it comes out of a bag" I asked can you please chop it up? "Ill try". Like I asked to build a atomic bomb! Use a knife, chop it up! I was the ONLY thing they got right. No guoc. Lettuce beans, ground beef, cheese fine. I got a tiny taco salad she'll, guoc, sour cream on side "salad had pre-processed ground beef (dumped from a bag), lettuce on top. I frequent this restaurant, it is our go to Mexican restaurant in the Trinity area. The prices are fair and the food is what you would expect from a Mexican-American restaurant. Nothing that will blow you away, but given the environment, the great service we always receive the great drink specials, we always enjoy our dinner and I recommend. Tried this place last night. The service was decent and I did like how they had the dining area spaced out. The food came quickly and all were good. Not the best I've had but certainly not the worst. Ordered the Floutas along with a pitcher of margaritas and a bowl of queso as an appetizer. So several of the reviews here between 1-3 starts are on point. Service is below expectations and a main reason that I stopped going to Vallarta's by the AMC Vets theatre years ago. We did get the chips and salsa in a timely manner but it took a while for our server to come by and take our order. By the time we got our queso we were ready for a second basket of chips. Queso was good and what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. Now in a few reviews I read the author stated that the meat was bland and not seasoned. They were on point. I dipped mine in the queso or the salsa depending on my mood. I think that they should season the meat more to give it flavor instead of having to dip it in salsa/queso. Margaritas were good and the pitcher was really full. I would urge the managers to review the 1, 2, and 3 star reviews to see where they can make simple improvements that will garner higher customer ratings. Personally I will hit the other Mexican restaurants as I like my Mexican food with more seasoning and faster service. read more
