I thought the one dollar sign price point was a mistake. Haven't seen one of those in a long time. Well this place was actually across the way from the Mexican restaurant we usually go to. This smaller place has a limited bar, and the menu offers grilled nopales and huaraches -which if you know about Mexican food is very specific, and not Tex mex. What really had me hooked was that not only was I able to get a cold Cutwater Mojito in the can to work around the beer and wine license , but they also have fresh lengua tacos (beef tongue) and the price indicator was true! Will certainly come back, except next time I'm ordering double. Perhaps triple at this hidden gem. read more

0h No! What a mistake.We tried this because Mexican is a go to favorite of ours, but never again. The sauces (picante', guacamole, verde', etc.) are not made in house. All tasted metallic. The salsa, we were told was not made in house. It tasted like it came from a jar! We ordered chips, sopes and a taco salad. The best fist! The tortilla chips were hot and crispy! As for the rest no flavor, dripping in grease, and frankly, not enjoyable. Soggy, bland, not much better than frozen from the grocery stores. Our waitress was very nice, helpful and kind! I really enjoyed the salsa flight I feel like it had a lot of flavor. The queso was delicious and my tacos were really good. It's hard to find authentic ground beef tacos. My wife liked her steak taco salad. They only serve premixed margaritas and for the price it's worth it. The server was nice and the establishment was clean and the service was fast. The ONLY complaint I have is the salsa. If it were me I would throw the whole salsa away and just stick with the free salsa flight. Home made salsa MAKES the experience for me. Our first visit here and everything was on point. Salsas are excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Restaurant is clean and the environment is casual. Not quiet but definitely not deafeningly loud either. The chorizo was excellent, seasoned well with just a touch of heat. I only tried the chorizo tacos today but I will definitely return to try more. If you want authentic Mexican style food (not Tex-Mex) give La Alameda a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

Wish I could have given more stars. The only reason they got three was because the food was tasty, the portions were good and the homemade sauces were pretty good. The regular salsa was right out of a jar (Pace Picante). The poor girl working the floor had only been working for 4 days and didn't know the basics of table-service. The chicken fajitas were flavored nicely, the rice and beans were exactly what I expected. Flavorful with authentic spices. Tortillas are homemade therefore so are the chips, both tasty. We had come in for breakfast because we had been looking for the longest for a hispanic restaurant who selled breakfast we had come in and immediately the staff looked at us some type of way we waited for a bit to see what she said she told us it was gonna be a 50 min wait for our food so we told her it was fine and as we were about to sit down we noticed there was only 8 chairs so we asked for another because we were clearly 9 people she said we couldn't that it was only for 8 people but ofc we weren't just gonna tell one if out family memebers to just leave so in the end we left terrible service and not very friendly read more

Phenomenal chicken mole enchiladas made with the renowned, authentic mole from the Mexican state of Puebla. We were lucky to have family who took us into the mountains to the most famous place for mole and La Alameda's mole is spot on in comparison! The green chicken enchiladas are saucy and soooo delicious as well. On weekends, you can get authentic chile rellenos, made the traditional way, not like the Tex-Mex restaurants. We like to cut them in strips to make tacos out of them in the 6 corn tortillas that are included. Extra good with a side order of guac to plop some in each taco. The green chicken chilaquiles are deliciously saucy as well and if you get lucky, they might have red sauce chilaquiles that day. Sadly, I cannot recommend the "steak" version. Pambazo is always a treat, a chorizo torta dunked in a TASTY red sauce. Mexican beer on tap. In a perfect world, we would be able to get Bohemia on tap too.This is not a margarita restaurant. This is not authentic mexican food in the least. We ordered cheese and chips and the cheese was literally the orange cheese that comes out of a can that you get at sporting events or the fair. So I chose the Taco Salad: a fresh made Tortilla bowl filled with refried beans, tender well seasoned steak, fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, sour cream, shredded cheese and queso, I also had salsa to put on it. Hubby had a Steak Burrito: filled with tender steak, rice, cheese,beans, fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes and sour cream. The Burrito and Taco Salad were huge and beyond appetizing. The flavors alone will just send you into a satisfying dream as you eat, with an occasional mmmm and wow this is fantastic. You will not be able to put it down.
