San Jose really is a great Mexican option especially in the land o lakes/lutz area. The lutz location is a little better overall in my opinion . The staff is friendly and I always have a great service anytime I visit. I normally don't eat much but I have tried their tacos and quesadillas which are pretty good. Drinks are the only thing that are hit or miss with the house margarita. Some days are stronger than others. Ordered steak fajitas yesterday for delivery. Huge mistake! Even paid extra for more meat. What we received was almost entirely made up of vegetables with very few small pieces of meat. It seemed like the restaurant decided that delivery didn't get the normal strips of beef but instead the leftover scraps and not much of those. If you want fajitas delivered, don't order from here. Being only the 2nd of only 2 tables in the restaurant, we expected good service. It was not. This restaurant, for a Mexican restaurant in the area, is overpriced, and what I call "nickle and dime" the customers, even charging $1.50 for a refill of chips. Waitresses were congregating amongst themselves, neglecting our table, not refilling our drinks. My entree, a "Steak ala Tampiqueno" was served in sections. The accompaniments were brought out first, then the other diners at our tables meals, and a good 5 minutes later, my steak. The steak was burned around the edges on a bed of raw onions , supposed to be grilled. By that time, my rice and beans were cold. This is the absolute last time we'll eat here, as there are many more, better Mexican restaurants in the area. For the $100 spent on 4 dinners, Taco Bell would have been a better choice. read more

So we were looking for a new Mexican food place close to where we are moving and found this place. The atmosphere is pretty inviting and it has its Mexican undertones. As for the food the chips and queso were average for what they are. The salsa was tasty with the right amount of spice. As for main dish the pollo loco was good and a nice large serving. I ordered 2 beef tostados and they were a basic tostado. Now everything was good and then I got into the Al pastor quesadilla. This shocked me at first bite. I love pastor and the flavor of the pineapple and spice was a bomb of flavor in this one. Probably one of the best if not the best I have. As far as why I have 4 stars the service left a little to be desired. Our server was not attentive and didn't check on us. But overall this is a most try and I will be back. read more

Oh my gosh! I can't believe that I have not reviewed this excellent restaurant. I was here Tuesday (11/15/22) for our retiree lunch. This was our second time together - all 12 of us! They are very accommodating, especially since we all need separate checks. I've also been here several times with family and friends. Every time was something new and I was not disappointed with the service (friendly, fast and thorough) or food (hot and good). Tuesday, while waiting for our food we snacked on the crisp tortilla chips and mild (thank goodness) sauce. Both were addicting. I ordered the enchilada special and I wish I had taken a photo. It was beautifully prepared. I ate every bit of it. One of my friends had the Speedy Gonzalez, rice with a taco and something else. I don't remember as my food distracted me from others' enjoyment of their entrees. No one complained, and some took home what they could not finish eating. So much food for great prices! We will definitely be back, as this will be one of the restaurants in our rotation. It's easily accessible from Pasco, Pinellas or Hillsborough, just east of the Veterans Expressway on the south side of State Road 54. We are so grateful to have found a quality Mexican restaurant with outstanding service and food! read more

First, service was prompt and the server was kind. That's where the good part ended. I ordered a taco salad for $13.95. It had maybe a teaspoon of beans and maybe a tablespoon of beef. It was about 85% iceberg lettuce and cheese. The worst part: the taco salad SHELL was clearly fried in RANCID oil. It was inedible. It even smelled badly so every time I took a bite I smelled it. It was so bad. I don't know how they cook/reheat those shells but they absolutely need to use fresh oil. The chips were fine so they must have been proposed differently. My husband ordered a chicken and beef burritos. The chicken was in a clear liquid that ran throughout the plate making every part soggy. It tasted exactly like the chicken you can make in your crockpot by adding chicken and a jar of salsa. Incredibly bland and...wet. I snuck a bite of his beef to get the shell taste out of my mouth and I just looked up at him with giant eyes and said, "that is literally ground beef in tomato sauce." It tasted like spaghetti sauce if you didn't season your sauce at all. My last thought: Taco Bell has higher quality food if that tells you anything. read more

Our only complaint is the music. Food was great, service was also great, but the music. This was our second visit. And we want to come back but the music is set to a very fast tempo. This was my worst experience with Mexican food. Any fast food establishment is a better option. I ordered a combo special that included two chicken enchiladas and one taco. The food was on a hot platter, but the food was cool. The cheese on the enchiladas were not melted and the raw tortillas appeared to have been taken straight out of the package and not heated, grilled or toasted. The rice appeared to have been prepared from a store bought spanish rice package. The taco was served in a store bought hard taco shell with shredded cheese that was not melted. This restaurant has been hit or miss with me in the past. We went yesterday for Cinco de Mayo. The drinks were just eh...obviously made for the masses. I had my husband get me a mojito and it tasted like sugar water. For once, I did like my food. I've always enjoyed their chips and salsa, but never my actual meal. Watch your bank statements!! There is this one particular server named Carlos who adds the amount of the tip section on your receipt. This happened at the San Jose Mexican restaurant in Land O lakes, FL. First incident, he added 10.00 for his tip when we entered ZERO. Now, yet again, just recently we only tipped 8.00 and added another 1.00 !! This is not about the money, but the principal of honesty. We go out of our way to support local businesses, and we are furious that this particular server is still employed by this establishment even after we called and spoke to the manager regarding this matter. This restaurant and a handful of others are nestled together in a mini "down town" type block adjacent to the Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Suncoast and a Residence Inn. They're a nice convenience, as they're just a short walk from the hotels. On the weekend evenings, parking was super hard to find between the all of the hotels guests and other patrons' vehicles however. We were seated without a wait and the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially given that we had a bunch of kids in the group. The food is fairly standard-issue Mexican. I didn't see anything particularly unique, but they've got most if not all of your favorites and a huge selection at reasonable prices. The serving sizes were very large. In fact, the Marvella Burrito my son ordered might have been the single largest burrito I've ever seen (the photo doesn't do it justice, this thing was a beast). All in all, we were all quite satisfied with the meal and I'd recommended it, especially if you're staying in the area, as a solid option. read more

Very cute restaurant. Loved the ambiance. Not your hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, not extremely high end- the perfect middle ground. They have outdoor seating which was lovely. Big TV indoors playing football games/sports. The food was exceptional. The amount of food was unbelievable. Our whole table said 'wow' when my husbands giant burrito came out. So, the amount of food you are getting for the price is worth it. I got 6 street tacos. This is one of my go-to orders and any Mexican restaurant and i eat three 3 home and eat them for lunch the next day. They were so good that I ate all 6. House hot sauce was kicking. Pleasantly surprised! Not terribly priced and large amounts of food! We sat down and were immediately greeted with two large bowls of delicious salsa and chips. You definitely get your money's worth! We got a lunch special with a cheese enchiladas, a taco and it came with beans and rice, large portions for lunch and only 8.50. It was all very tasty and we got our food quickly. Also got the enchiladas rancheras it was very tasty and the guacamole on the side was great. I can't wait to come back and try the guac for real. We sat outside and it was a beautiful day with great ambiance. Definitely recommend this restaurant, they also have happy hour everyday 2-5 so that's also a plus read more

My husband and I came in for the first time for lunch. We ordered the jumbo frozen margarita x 2- ($24.00 each) one regular and 1 strawberry. Another server brought the drinks and we advised we ordered frozen drinks and was advised that they didn't have frozen margaritas. There was no ice in the drink whatsoever which we both thought was really odd. We both took a sip and the drinks tasted like sour juice so the drinks were sent back. We tried this place for the first time before going to the movies. The service was good and the food was better than there sister brand up the street. They provided free chips and salsa which is always nice. They skimped on the shrimp in our enchiladas or at least not consistent. One had 2 shrimp and the other one had 3. Not sure what happened. The tacos were better than Taco Bell but lacked fresh tomatoes. I say give it a try, we will be back. read more
