First time here but definitely not the last time. Big portions of hot tasty classic Mexican deliciousness. HUGE drinks, see the pics for yourself! Atmosphere is so cute, you literally feel like you're in a little Mexican cantina, colorful vibes all over! Moreover, the service was EXCELLENT...server helped us make a custom order, took time to explain menu, and was very attentive & genuinely friendly! Even the owner came by and said hello too!!! Appreciate that!!!

I stopped by for a takeout order 30 minutes before they were closing the girl upfront who picked up the phone was super polite. When ordering on the phone, she put me on hold to check on questions I had I was able to give me an answer . I'm glad I was able to stop by and pick up the Menudo. It was super delicious. I'll have to rate again when I have time to stop in and sit down to eat.

Im not always easily satisfied, but I've been to this place a lot and you know what? I have fun here! It's not my kinda place but they play great music, the service has always been great and believe me I would enjoy making fun of a botched attempt at "Mexican" food but alas, I cannot!!! They have menudo- tripe! And it's really good too! They don't have lengua. That's excusable because we are in Gringolandia. With that being said, my husband freaking loves this place! Ándale ándale, Arriba!!!!!

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food then I wouldn't go here. The service was good though, waiters were super nice ! The decor was like tiki bar for Mexico vibes . Felt dive-ish! The food was just not good... at all. Steak fajita meat tasted like cheapy beef teriyaki consistency . The guacomole needed seasoning...Period. The Mexican pizza was just too much going on and the ground beef was like bad quality . Everything was just disappointing. Taco tiki bar vibes for sure

I've heard mixed reviews about Carmelita's, but I love Mexican so I wanted to try for myself. I ordered tacos Al carbon with grilled chicken and my husband ordered the steak fajitas. Both of us agreed that the meat could have been more tender. My grilled chicken was tough and chewy, either reheated or overcooked. But the portion size was good. I ordered corn and a side salad. The corn wasn't sweet, so I didn't eat much. After the three tacos with guacamole, sour cream, tomatoes, and lettuce, I was too full to try the salad. I don't think I would be back with the other options in the area. But it's not the worst Mexican food either.

Cinco de Mayo Gem in Trinity: A Must-Try Local Mexican Spot!…read more After wrapping up a fun morning meeting our photographer for a photo shoot of our newest listing, my husband and I decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo the right way--with an amazing lunch at a fantastic local spot in the Trinity area. Since this was the first time Cinco fell on Taco Tuesday since 2020, I played it safe and made a reservation on OpenTable. Smart move--it was *packed*! If you're a foodie hunting for authentic, flavorful Mexican food with really nice ambience and a welcoming vibe, put this place on your list immediately. You can instantly tell they care about every plate that leaves the kitchen. The house salsa was a standout--thick, rich, and packed with roasted tomato flavor instead of the usual watery stuff. The chips were made in-house and arrived perfectly fresh and warm. We asked for their hot salsa and they delivered with a housemade roasted habanero that brought serious heat! I mixed it with the regular salsa for the perfect balance, while my husband powered through it straight and loved every bite. The $8 house margaritas (normally $10) were the special of the day and excellent --perfectly balanced, not too sweet, not too tart. The bartenders clearly know their craft. For tacos, my husband went with the Oaxaca tacos featuring grilled pineapple (his new favorite) and a Carne Asada that came in a very close second. I ordered the shrimp tacos and the Birria taco. The shrimp came on these housemade, grilled flour tortillas that were crispy, thicker, and absolutely addictive--I'm usually a corn tortilla loyalist, but these changed my mind! The Birria was delicious too (though I did miss having consommé for dipping). Three tacos let you mix and match, which made it easy to try a couple of different options. Even though the restaurant was buzzing, our server (whose name I unfortunately missed--sorry!) and the whole team worked like a well-oiled machine. Food and drinks came out quickly and everyone was genuinely friendly. This is a true locally owned gem. Next time we visit, I'm ordering the flight of four margaritas--something to look forward to! If you're in the Trinity area and love supporting great local restaurants, definitely check this spot out. Let me know if you go--I'd love to hear what you think!

I don't care for anything to spicy... and loved the salsa. Hubby had Carnitas and I had a quesadilla. Of course we had to try the churros for dessert. Everything from the Margaritas to the Churros was great. Cute little place with lots of outdoor seating. So glad we came early.... It was filling up quickly. So many things I want to go back and try!

A Delicious Discovery: Authentic Mexican Gem in New Port Richey…read more This weekend, my husband Eriq and I headed up to our favorite Thai spot, only to find it closed. Hangry levels were rising fast, so we pivoted to a nearby Mexican grocery store and market that had been on my radar from glowing reviews. It delivered big time on authentic flavors, generous portions, and warm hospitality. Tucked at the back of the well-stocked Latin grocery store is a casual dining area where you order fresh-made Mexican classics. The menu offers plenty of traditional options and cool protein choices. One of the cooks kindly brought me a little sample cup of their pozole when I asked about it -- tender, falling-off-the-bone pork in a rich broth. Absolute perfection. (She also mentioned their menudo, but I politely passed on that one!) We decided on the tostadas, and wow -- for $13.99 you get three super-crispy house-made tortillas piled high with toppings. I went with two chicken and one steak (which was tender). The chicken was incredibly flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth tender from slow-cooking in spices. Fresh shredded lettuce, cilantro, crumbled cheese, a drizzle of crema, and slices of avocado on top made every bite fantastic. Eriq loved the al pastor version he tried and powered through all three. He also ordered a carnitas taco (which looked excellent, but he ran out of room!). The tortillas held up beautifully under all the toppings -- no crumbling disasters, which is rare and impressive. They brought out two house hot sauces (a smoky red and a vibrant green salsa) that were outstanding, plus ice-cold Mexican sodas made with real cane sugar. Service was friendly and attentive, with staff bringing food out promptly. The whole place felt genuinely authentic (we might have been the only non-Latino folks there, always a great sign), the grocery section was small but well stocked with staples, fresh meats and produce. If you're in the Holiday/NPR area and craving real-deal Mexican food at very reasonable prices, definitely stop in. We'll be back soon -- those tostadas are going to haunt my dreams in the best way possible.

Great food at a fair price. Friendly staff. I will return to try more of the menu. Local family runread more
