Why oh why is this place not hopping?!? They have a really great variety of really good beer. They have games onsite as well as pinball machines. Lo key great place to hang. PLUS, Gracie's BBQ is next door with fire southern BBQ that you can order in, right through the beer tender! Come in here! Check it out!

Menu as of 12/17/25 (for their full menu, you can walk next door & order to be delivered)

Walked in on a Wednesday night around 5pm. First timer, I usually go for porters or stouts and they had two stouts available, Milky Milk (5.2%) & Coconilla (almost 12%). Bartender let me sample both and I loved the taste and smell of Coconilla. BF decided on a pint of Oktoberfest. We also ordered the pulled chicken bowl and a side of rice & beans. Food arrived in less than 10 min from next door! We also picked up a shirt (a Christmas gift) and the license plate sticker..proud to represent Vallejo! Food was delicious, beer was terrific...we'll be back.

Excellent brewery this was. I'm glad i stumbled into it. I started with a flight and there was some badies and others not so much. I didn't get to try their food but looked good. I'll definitely be coming back soon.

Stopped by on a Saturday evening and was really excited to try a new brewery in my hometown! The space is super open and spacious with plenty of beers on tap. Loved that they also have board games to play and even arcade games to keep things fun. Service was quick and our server was very sweet. Overall, a great spot to hang out and try something new!

I love being able to support small businesses in my local communities and this is certainly one of them. They have a solid amount of beer options and I loved that I was able to bring in some different from Gracie's next door. Staff were friendly and provided recommendations on what to order as well. I'll definitely be back!

Vallejo truly needs places like this. Laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, and a personal for me is comfy seating options. They have small and larger tables, the bar area, and lounge chairs of different kinds around so something for everyone. I like that some seating is away from the main sitting area and I get claustrophobic. They have a good selection of beers and drinks like house-made seltzers and micheladas (the michelada is not a typical Mexican michelada so keep expectations low on this one but it did the trick.) Good parking. All in all a very nice and needed addition to Vallejo's downtown.

The DayDrifter was excellent and the Tropical Punch seltzer was amazing. The CampFire Reverie is an exceptional dark stout.

A gem right in downtown Vallejo, serving up a ton of beer options, seltzers, and bbq food from Gracie's next door. Very cool vibe, with a constantly changing menu of beer options. Pinball machines, board games, lots of different theme nights/events. It's as good (if not better than) Mare Island Brewing Company. Clean with friendly staff.

We attended a birthday party at VBC. They offer beer and hard seltzers. You can order food next door at Gracie's. The place is nice and clean. They have several TVs for watching sports. Kayla was an amazing host to our large group. Thank you, Kayla.

David and Kat promised our daughter they would make her a special Very Berry Mac and Cheese for her birthday. Something off menu, made to order just for our 5 year old, and just asked us to call the day before so they could be sure to have the berries. She felt so special and loved by these wonderful people who went out of their way to be kind to a neighborhood kid. AND Kat surprised us with mini berry cupcakes at the end of the meal. I guess we were really turned off when we asked for extra napkins and she said something to the effect of "if I have time, I'm really busy and there are other people I have to help!" Well, excuse us! She did come down with a very small handful of paper towels. Meh. If I were in the area again, I'd go back but it's probably not a place I'd need to visit again.

Super personable, great energy, and made the whole experience feel effortless. I ordered the peanut butter and jelly burger--smash-style patty with bacon, peanut butter, jelly, Tabasco, and pickles--and wow... one of the most unique and satisfying burgers I've had in a long time. It hits that perfect balance of savory, sweet, and nostalgic. I asked Paul what he would pair with it, and he absolutely nailed it. He introduced me to "Chimp My Ride" from Solano Brewing Company, a rich stout with chocolate and peanut butter notes that complemented the burger perfectly. It honestly brought back that childhood lunchbox feeling in the best way possible. On top of that, Chef Jamie personally brought out the food and took the time to connect--great conversation, great presence, and you can tell there's real pride behind what they're doing here. The vibe, the style, the food, and the people all come together here. Easy five stars. I'll definitely be back.

Within minutes, I knew I'd found exactly where I wanted to spend a hot summer afternoon. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between neighborhood tavern and craft beer destination. Vintage bicycles hang overhead, dozens of rotating taps line the wall, and the energy is lively without ever feeling chaotic. Whether you're catching the match, meeting friends after work, or simply escaping the summer heat, Rustwater has that welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay for another round. Following the bartender's recommendation, I ordered the Chicken Ciabatta from the specials board with a side of crispy tater tots, and it was absolutely the right call. The sandwich arrived beautifully presented on a perfectly toasted ciabatta roll with just the right amount of crunch. Inside was juicy grilled chicken layered with smoky bacon, melted provolone, crisp lettuce, ripe tomato, and a flavorful pesto mayo that brought everything together without overpowering the fresh ingredients. Every bite delivered a wonderful combination of textures and balanced flavors. The tater tots were exactly what great tavern food should be, golden, crisp, and light on the outside with a fluffy interior. They became downright addictive when dipped into a combination of ketchup and a Ghost Hot Sauce that once they are out they are out adding a slow-building kick that complemented the crispy potatoes perfectly. As I enjoyed a cold pint from their outstanding rotating tap list, Spain put the finishing touches on a 2-0 victory over France, sending them to the World Cup Final. Great soccer, an exceptional craft beer, and a fantastic lunch, it doesn't get much better than that on a scorching summer afternoon. Rustwater has earned its reputation over the years, and it's easy to understand why. Friendly service, an outstanding craft beer program, elevated tavern food, and an atmosphere that invites you to linger long after the final whistle. If you're looking for one of downtown Fairfield's best spots to enjoy creative tavern fare, explore an ever-changing lineup of craft beers, and catch the big game, Rustwater Kitchen & Taproom deserves a place on your list. I'll definitely be back to see what's on tap next, and without question, those crispy tater tots will be making another appearance on my table with the ghost hot sauce, if still available, due to the company going out of business.

The waitress(blonde, short hair mid-aged lady) came off rude and said, "no under 21, sorry--unless it's a dog haha," and then told me I could go to the taphouse on the corner. The onion rings were good too, although I wish they used the same batter as the fish. That may be intentional given the location and the likelihood of non-customers helping themselves if everything was left on the tables. I asked whether the beets in the beet salad were freshly roasted or canned, and I was told they were fresh, so I ordered it. It was good, but something wasn't quite as fresh as I expected. It may have been the walnuts--I think they would have benefited from being toasted--or perhaps another ingredient. I'm very particular when it comes to beet salads. I also ordered the crab and artichoke melt, and this was the star of the meal. It was absolutely divine. Rich, buttery crab and melted cheese layered on thinly sliced, perfectly toasted ciabatta--it was pure comfort food. I was surprisingly full after just two bites, partly because the portions are generous and I'd already made a dent in the beet salad.
