Another is huge, but packed with cheap, flimsy frames (and clerks that won't even acknowledge your presence). And then there is this store where the inventory, prices and service are just right! There is certainly something to be said about great service! Rebekah was very knowledgeable and was able to help me pick the most appropriate frame for my prescription. Their frames were stylish, yet sturdy, well-made and priced fairly. After discussing my options I settled on two pairs of progressives. This was my first time with bifocals and Rebekah was, again, just wonderful in explaining my options, providing helpful tips on how to use them, and assuring me that I could come right back in if I had any problems. She also explained the importance of precision in progressives so I was happy to see that they used digital measurement. I was so happy with my glasses that E. came here to get his prescription filled too. He had a pair of progressives that he got last year at another place and he never did get used to them so he had just set them aside. They were able to make him new lenses and now he is seeing just fine! After 5 months of blissful vision I fell asleep in my glasses and bent them beyond repair. Fortunately they said I had purchased insurance and so they replaced them for $20 with no hassle. They even had the frame in-stock so I was in and out in just a few minutes. I've called multiple times in reference to some glasses I had made with their office, and they never answer or they do answer and then they hang up. It's a terrible job done by staff; it seems they just like to sit and talk all day but only to each other. I had an appointment late October and purchased my glasses the first week of November. It's going on 3 months, and they have no answers for my glasses. I wouldn't recommend coming here it seems you'll get your new glasses/contacts by your next visit which is in a year.

The optometrist has his main office in Harlingen, so this particular location is pretty basic. No restrooms, no receptionist, that sort of thing. BUT...what it lacks in amenities, the optometrist more than makes up for in the quality of his customer service and quick turnaround time. He texts, which I personally prefer. Bottom line, if all you're looking for is a basic eye exam, or to update your prescription/lenses, or to purchase new frames, then I definitely recommend Ocean Optical!

Seriously...Texas State Optical deserves it…read more From the moment you call to make an appt, to when you walk in the door and are greeted by the staff...to when you finally put on that new pair of glasses you've been waiting for! TSO offers the best customer service experience possible and you get great glasses to boot. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by the staff and they checked me in. I only waited about 5 min before getting my eyes checked. Throughout the entire time, the young lady helping me was amazing. Extremely courteous... professional...and every other word that relates to customer service exemplified. I took in my old glasses so they already had an idea of my prescription. The doctor took me to the back for the eye exam and about 10 min later I was walking out. The staff then showed me which lenses I could pick from based off my insurance. After choosing the ones I liked, they said they should be ready in about 1 week. Well to my nice surprise they were ready for pickup the next day! When I went to pick them up they gave me the case with a spray and small towel to clean them with in a small bag with my name hand written on it. The devil is in the details but those little details win over customers. This feels like a fairly new optical... slightly small...but with it's amazing staff, great doctor, and top-of-the line customer service, it feels and is the best place to get your glasses.
