The doctors are great, it's the staff that gets this rating. I didn't ask for contacts, I asked for glasses multiple times. The doc gave me sample contacts and the staff tried to charge me a "fitting fee". After I refused to pay (again, something I didn't ask for), I was asked to take the sample lenses out of my eyes. If the miscommunication is between staff and the doctor, why as the patient am I being treated as if I'm the one trying to get over? Super unprofessional read more

However, i'm not sure if the providers are overworked or practice management needs tweaked, but when you have me wait nearly 30 mins for the optometrist to see me for 7 mins, a simple "we'll be with you shortly/xx time" would be nice. read more

I do not typically write reviews, but I was appalled at the service here. Let me start with, this place's tactics are most similar to that of a used car lot. I decided to try this place (for a routine eye exam) after reading many wonderful reviews online, but I clearly received a different level of service than them. First off, I didn't appreciate that they heavily encourage you to not have your eyes dilated, which is covered in full by my insurance (and by most). They try to sell you on a $29 fee to do a replacement test. Oddly enough, you take this replacement test before they explain what they are doing. Then, they ask for a $29 fee to process the test. I refused, and asked to be dilated instead. The optometrist went ahead and just processed the result of the replacement test for free without dilating my eyes. This is clearly a money grab. When scheduling the routine eye exam, I communicated that I had no desire for a contact lens fitting exam. I communicated this again to the optometrist assistant. Additionally, I told the optometrist I had no desire to purchase any contacts. He insisted on giving me a pair of free samples, because he was curious how I might like the new change in the Air Optix product. I agreed to take the sample. He suggested I put them in, to which I agreed. He then took a look and said "they look like they are fitting well". I said thanks, and he responded with "let's just check to make sure you can see well in them." He asked me to read a few letters off the wall. This lasted for a minute or two, and then I moved to to the lobby to check out frames to purchase. I checked out frames for a little while, but decided to hold off on purchasing glasses (I wanted to check prices elsewhere). The person assisting me clearly did not understand everything about my insurance, as I was more aware of my insurance benefits. While getting ready to leave, I was told I needed to pay my co-pays for the exam. To my shock, I was charged a fee for a "contact lens fitting exam". We argued for a couple minutes about how I was not going to pay for this, because I explicitly stated I had no desire in such an exam. She asked when the optometrist was examining my contacts, "Well what did you think that was?" I responded, "I thought he was giving me a free sample." She did not respond favorably. I insisted that I would not be paying for a contact lens exam. She finally agreed, but demanded that I throw away the "free" contact samples in my eyes, but I was welcome to take the "free" eye drop samples home. This place must thrive on fleecing people... read more

Before this appointment, I had never been to an optometrist so I had no idea what to expect. I was such a newbie. During the initial exam from the nurse, I'm pretty sure I looked like a deer in the headlights but they were fast, thorough and very nice. Can't say anything but great things about their bedside manner. Dr. Clyde was AWESOME! He was so laid back and talked to me in plain English about my vision problems and gave me the options to have glasses or not and when I should be wearing them. He didn't even dilate my eyes which is awesome because I was going to have to drive in rush hour traffic with blurred vision. No bueno. I ultimately chose to get some specs because I was having some serious night vision issues. Their frame selection was good enough for me and I found some great Marc Jacobs ones that look perfect on my face. The person responsible for fulfilling prescriptions was THE sweetest person ever and my insurance covered much of the cost. Great story about this place. Got contact exam here like 8-10 months ago. Ordered contacts through my insurance. I switch between contacts and glasses so that much time had passed and I still had a fair amount of contacts remaining. My kids (2-3 years olds) decided it would be a wonderful idea to open all the contacts and play with them. Agh! Called valley eye care to get a copy of my prescription and the front desk questioned why I needed more already. Were they not fitting right? So I gave them my lame story. And they said no problem. When my husband went to pick the prescription up.... not only did they have a set for me to use immediately, but no, they had ordered me a new box (on them) to replace the ones I had. Because hey! Kids are great, but they can cause havoc. read more

I needed a new eye doctor as I got Lasik eye surgery in California a few weeks prior. I had heard good things about this place so I decided to go out on a limb and check them out. I was not dissapointed. From my very first interaction with them on the phone I was pleasantly surprised with how friendly and accommodating they were. They were able to fit in me in after work and the wait was only a few minutes. (Usually when I go to the doctor I'm waiting like 20 minutes in the waiting room). Dr. Clyde was awesome, great bedside manner (if that's what you call it for an eye doctor) and I even found out I have 20/15 vision as a result of the Lasik surgery! If you are in need of an eye doctor and you live in the valley then this is your place. It's truly a pleasure to have my monthly checkup at the Eyecare center. read more

Terrible experience shopping for new glasses. No one knows what they're talking about and I was told I could pay for my new glasses over the phone and couldn't. I was made to feel like it was my fault for not knowing I couldn't do that and the guy who told me is in a China right now. Since it's the end of the year that's the difference between me getting my glasses this year or not. read more

I decided to go to Valley Eyecare after several years of going to mall optometrists and never getting the right prescription. I visited the last one four times complaining that the script wasn't right, only to be given a 30 second chart test and be told "no, you're fine." I started to think maybe I was just too far gone to have contacts that could let me see. My experience was completely different at Valley Eyecare. Their technology is up to date and they had machines that I hadn't seen before in all my years of getting eye exams. The office staff was helpful, and my appointment started right on time. Dr. Clyde was personable and took the time to understand my frustrations in finding the right prescription. The part that truly blew me away was that the doctor saw me again when I came to try on the contacts. This was the first time I hadn't just been handed trials and told to "call in a week if they don't work" Dr. Clyde himself actually took a couple of minutes to ensure they were sitting well and that they were comfortable before I left. I didn't realize what a strain not being able to see properly was taking on my eyes. An hour after getting my trials my whole face started to relax. It felt amazing! I needed a new eye doctor and went to Yelp for suggestions. I am very glad I did. Both times I went in I did not wait long at all. I saw Dr. Lindsey Clyde and she was just great! She provided me with useful information and options.The entire staff as very friendly and helpful with all of my questions. The in office experience and exam were wonderful the staff was friendly and welcoming. That said, once you have it, you should take your prescription and order glasses from somewhere else unless you do not need them for several weeks. On day 13 I was told we are only approaching the 7-10 day window, that there was no estimate when the glasses would be ready, and that I should wait until they called me. My typical turnaround at other centers has been 7 days or less. read more

I had my yearly check up here yesterday. I had been going somewhere else that I really liked, but I had an insurance change, so I made an appointment with Valley based on Yelp reviews, and now I'm happy to be writing a positive review of my own! The office was comfortable and welcoming. I had great experiences with the front desk, medical assistants, and the doctor. They were very thorough and explained things very well. Unfortunately, when I went to my car after the appointment, I had a flat tire. The receptionists were very helpful while I was trying to get it taken care of, and they didn't mind my sitting in their waiting room for an hour while I waited on roadside assistance to arrive. I am a bit frustrated ... the visit was awesome the people were great ... I went in hoping to get checked for glasses , keep in mind I just got fitted for lenses 4 months ago which I stated to the doctor. Before walking in I took off my lenses and walked waited 10 min before I got taken in, got the exam asked me I wore lenses stated that I did then got given a set of lenses to wear I didn't quite get it but I went ahead and put em on ( keep in mind mine are in the case in my car) I then picked my frames , ready to pay then was slapped with a $100 fee for lenses fitting ??????? I AM THERE for GLASSES , and was a given a prescription for contact Lenses , something that I already have.... when I told the person taking the payment that this isn't part of wa I'm here for , I was told that it is part of the exam ..... like I just needed glasses ... extremely frustrated. Today was my first eye appt with Valley Eyecare & it was awesome! Dr. Lindsey Clyde is so friendly & personable, I really enjoyed her & I can def be a harsh critic sometimes! I got a new contact prescription & they gave me a free trial pair to test in the time I'm waiting for mine to come in... Always a plus! The employee (didn't catch her name) that help me fit my glasses was amazing as well. Gave her honest opinion & didn't push me to get anything expensive or spend more money than was necessary. I definitely recommend to everyone but make an appt ahead of time... It took me a month to get in since they are very popular! Oh & also- LOVED the waiting room decor... Just moved here and needed a new eye doctor that was close by and took my insurance. The staff here is great - very efficient and friendly. The exam went very smooth - there is technology now so you don't need to get your eyes dialated. Dr. Eric was my doc - very nice, explained everything, answered all my questions. Didn't need regular glasses this time, but I did need prescription sun glasses. The technician was very helpful and not at all pushy about frames. I'm definitely glad I found this group and will be going back for regular check ups. read more

Very affordable; I had been going to a different location in Scottsdale close to work and have been paying in the upward of $150 for 6months contacts and exam. This is with my insurance. I found this place while looking at things on VSP.com. It's 2mins from my house. It was quick and easy. I came out to pay, with the same insurance i've had for years, it was a total of $35 for the exam (since I opted to do the additional test to check the health of my eyeballs) and $25 additional for the 6months contact. Mind you, this is the same exam and same brand of contacts as the other location. I was happy to pay this and couldn't help but wonder if I've been ripped off from the other place for years. read more

When I was having trouble deciding which glasses I should get, they gave me their opinion which really helped. The doctors there are only concerned with my vision and comfort. I went on yelp to find an eye doctor close to my work and scheduled an appointment based on the reviews. I could not be happier with Dr. Lindsey Clyde and her staff!! She was very attentive and listened to what I had to say. We tried a couple of different combinations of contacts due to my need of progressives (darn getting older!!) She made sure that the prescription was perfect before finalizing it. The lady that helped me pick a new pair of glasses (it has been 10 years....don't judge LOL) was absolutely wonderful. She listened to what I said about the style that I liked and ended up pulling at least 15 different pairs off the wall for me to try on and see what I liked. She also gave her honest opinion about what she thought looked best on me. The whole experience was fantastic and I would recommend this office in a heartbeat!! read more

When I called to make an appointment, the waiting time was TWO weeks. Decided to schedule appointment anyhow as my visit was not any emergency. I was on the phone for quite some time sharing ALL my insurance information. Day I came in, I filled it out again. Once in a chair and asked if I wanted to pay $29 extra for a test; I asked what more after the $60 insurance payment would I have to pay out of pocket. I was told another $80! Unbelievable!! I never head of such a thing; asked for my paperwork and walked out!! Office building is brand new....office inside beautiful... maybe there is a correlation between the charges???!! just saying.... read more

I have an eye condition called Keratoconus and it requires special lenses. I dealt with two other Ophthalmologists over the course of four months trying to get these lenses fitted and neither one would help me without me paying $3500 up front and for whatever reason they wouldn't bill my insurance. I was on the verge of giving up hope until my insurance provider gave me Valley Eye Care Centers information. From the moment I called Valley Eye Care Center I was treated with respect and understanding, I was also told that with my insurance I would be completely covered with a $25 copay. I couldn't believe it and was skeptical at first. But Miley and Lily both reassured me there would be no issues. When I came in for my first appointment I was treated promptly and Dr. Clyde and her staff gave me a full rundown of what my condition was and what I was to expect from the treatment and just like they said it was $25 total! Once I was fitted with my first lenses, I was able to see so clearly and with 20/20 vision. I literally cried, I had not seen this clearly in over four years. The staff is always courteous and helpful and knew me by name by my second visit. Needless to say I am a patient for life of Valley Eye Care Center. I had recently moved to Phx about a year ago and needed to find a good eye doc as I am very myopic, which puts me in a higher risk category for things like detached retina etc. so I'm very punctual about getting an annual eye exam. This time, I had developed some very bad allergies that started where I used to live in the midwest, and no one there could figure out what could help me or what exactly was the issue causing my extreme discomfort wearing my contacts. Dr. Clyde was excellent. She worked with me over several months to trial and error eye drops and different contact lense manufacturers to get me wearing my contacts again. I was so blown away by how easily Dr. Lindsey was able to figure out what worked for me! She must be the only Eye doctor that knows what the hek she is doing! Love her!
