Good food and ambience. Stopped during a road trip after getting tired of the usual fast food. Very dog friendly. Patio has umbrellas!

I admit, I had ZERO idea what bannock is, but my kid had heard of this small cafe and she really…read morewanted to try it, so who am I to say no?!! Reading the other reviews, I see I'm not alone in stopping here en route to Penticton (it's a good mid-point for a break). There's a small parking strip on the side of the building. I love supporting smaller shops and cafes, and this particular one is indigenous-owned so it seems extra special! Love the motto, too: "Don't panic..We have bannock!". Cute! The cafe is small but clean, with Indigenous artwork on the walls. Of course we ordered bannock! I ordered a maple one, and my kid ordered a berry one (might've been the Saskatoon berry, I forget). I'll be honest, they were absolutely delicious, and fresh, and fluffy and sweet and glazed, but mine absolutely did NOT have much of a maple taste - like, AT ALL. It was like the glaze on a Krispy Kreme glazed donut. Delicious, yes, and sugary, but not maple-y. My kid's berry one was very subtle in its berry flavor. Again, excellent, but not knock-out berry-y. To me, these treats were similar to donuts without the holes. More like fluffy fritters. Delicious, but not as unique as I thought they'd be. As for the coffees....my maple latte, again, sadly, did not taste at ALL maple-y. But it was an excellent coffee: very smooth and flavorful. You could tell the beans were excellent. There just was no maple taste. But my kid had a berry latte (again, I forget what kind), but this drink was EXCELLENT and it totally DID have a distinct berry flavor to it, and it was wonderful! (We both tried both bannocks and both lattes, and we both agreed on this review). We didn't try the sandwiches but they looked quite good. They also had some cute Kekuli Cafe merch for sale.

We loved the bannock (fry bread) and entree bowls at this Indigenous-owned cafe-- one of our best…read morefood memories from a trip to Banff National Park from the West Coast. Unique flavors and good vibes!

We chose this place because of the patio and we had just been hiking with our dogs…read more I chose the classic Mike burger with onion rings. My husband had a regular burger. And here is the problem. My burger was a previously frozen oblong shaped pressed meat substitute. It was grey inside. Weird texture and taste. My husbands burger was fresh and looked and tasted like real meat. 2 stars are for our server, her integrity and honesty was nice. Also for the patio allowing our dogs. When I went in and ask about if my burger was previously frozen she said she would check. She came out to the patio and told us it was. She took the meal off the bill. Now for the restaurant management, you are a steak house??? Right! Do NOT serve frozen pressed meat, it's disgusting! I would assume no one has called you out on this? But come on, get your act together! We won't be back ever!

MMS has been a regular stop for us as they welcome our 4-Leggeds at their patio seating…read more Last 2 visits were a fail and then epic fail. Last visit, there was only a hostess doing everything. She did her best but the experience was only adequate plus. Very slow. This visit (a month later), our dog was not welcome as the (same) hostess explained they are (still) having staff issues and since she is the only one on, wasn't permitted to open the patio on this beautiful 24deg day. Inside the restaurant also had an odour like you get when you let your cloth wipe too many tables without freshening up. This was our last visit to Mr. Mike's in Merritt.
