Great service, great food and a beautiful view with historical charm. Highly recommend.

An inn in the forest that's a restaurant! Cool space and area. As a restaurant in the city it's rated as such, but if one is stuck out here I could be more charitable. Food is about 3 star but the price is 2 star. Service also was 2 star overall even though there were more staff than patrons during our time

I have been to wissahickon probably a 100+ times but this was my first time eating at Valley Green Inn. This restaurant is set right in the middle of a scenic, historic park, which gives you a beautiful view but possibly difficult parking for those who do not frequent this area. When you step in, you must remember you are stepping into a building that is hundreds of years old - don't expect anything modern, spacious, updated, or luxurious. The food itself was quite good, above what we expected in an establishment that looked like this. However, the service was below our expectations. The host in the front was curt, and service was slow, even when there were hardly any customers. Plus, our server was wearing a dirty hoodie and sweating his face off. Though he was kind, he would wipe his sweat with his hands, and serve our food/drinks with those same hands, which was super unappealing. With the food and location being on their side, I sure hope this place works on their service.

The food was fantastic, the service was extremely fast, and it was super cute and cozy in the restaurant. Very festive for the holidays! We went for brunch/lunch.

My husband and I stopped by yesterday with our Newfoundland dog, Sully, and ordered beers and brisket fries after our walk on Forbidden Drive. The food was perfectly delicious (according to Sully) and the staff is as usual friendly, attentive, and helpful. We loved this place!

attended a beautiful wedding at this venue. Loved the food and service. Great views and love the nature. The only thing is that be prepared to have many trail runners and bikers watching the ceremony and then also just running or walking or biking by since this is a public place. There is a parking lot which is helpful. Overall wasn't too chilly for a fall wedding outdoors with the heaters but it was still cold but they have a great fire pit outside.

It's been about 10 years since we've eaten here, not for any particular reason, but somehow it slipped under the radar. We stopped here for dinner on a Saturday afternoon and had a fabulous meal. We started with soup and salad which were both solid and for main courses we chose pan seared salmon and the grilled pork chop. Everything was very good. Our server was personable and attentive. We sat on the patio where we could people watch. Which is always fun.

Service and food was all stellar. Tristan went out of his way to accommodate me any my party, will absolutely be returning to this beautiful little spot!

The end of the porch where we were seated in the direct sun.

We were seated on the porch in blazing hot sun. Didn't have a fork to eat with, so i asked for one. It never came. Salad had no dressing on it, just a pile of lettuce straight out of the bag. When I asked the waiter why there was no dressing, he said that he could get some for me, but saying this as he was piling dirty dishes onto the same plate as the salad. Totally unacceptable! There was a table available in the middle of the porch for two that we could have sat in. If I had pushed my chair further back, I would have fallen off of the porch, and then there would be legal issues following. My drink took 10 minutes to get to me, but was fine. The sandwich was OK, but I wished there would have been other bread options besides white bread; I can get that in a supermarket.

Service needs a lot of work. I was waiting to be seated, but the host/hostess was not in sight. Everyone was so busy- it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and they were setting up for a wedding. My reservation was for 2pm. A guy comes out from no where, goes straight to the computer. I tell him Im checking in and waiting for my table. I give him my name and he said, oh i just canceled your reservation. What? It's 2:05pm and I've been waiting in line for 5 min! Bottomline, they regretted booking my reservation bc of the wedding and being so busy. I guess they were hoping I wouldn't come. Next, we waited for our waiter for 25 min until we finally went inside for help. You would think they have the service down pat by now. Diner beware the gnocchi was not what I expected. It was like a cheese soup. So heavy, creamy and tasteless. The Korea. Bbq wings were good. Cappuccino was also good. You can't beat the ambience. It's beautiful and a hidden gem, therefore no matter what, I'll be back.

The tennis courts are grass ready to welcome debutants from another era who not only ricochet between the Main Line and Newport but compete in hoop skirts and corsets rather than clothing spawned by space age polymers and blessed by the demigod Nike. Time seems irrelevant here. A bit of exaggeration but you get the picture. The entire milieu (the only word that fits given the circumstance) is a time warp that had me SMH wondering when I'd wake up. Food you say.... well the restaurants are beyond fine and deliver a cuisine marinating in power from the salads right down to the palette cleansers. Bring me another Brandy and be quick about it. The 1950's potboiler, The Young Philadelphians was filmed here with a barely 30 Paul Newman chewing the mahogany scenery without disturbing one thread on his bespoke tuxedo. I highly doubt a Members Only jacket would have cut it in the Eisenhower decade. Doubtful things have changed much, although now Newman makes a pretty mean Marinara. They had me at hello. While we were waiting for food, I explored the store attached. Very cute flower shop and gift boutique. I'm not sure if they share the same owners? If so they should put a sign above the restaurant side door to advertise the shop. Maybe they can get some shoppers after breakfast/lunch? Back to the food, I had the goat cheese and sun-dried tomato quiche ($16) and it was a little too strongly flavored for me. Normally I love these two ingredients on pizza or in pasta, but this was a lot. For me, needed more egg. It didn't stop me from eating it though! We shared a Brioche French toast ($16) for the table, like an appetizer. It had a peach butter that was interesting. I think next time I want to try a Scrambled egg sandwich ($15) and add sausage patties. ($5) I saw a guy get that and it looked amazing. Now he knows how to order!

My only mild disappoint was the cornbread, as it was a little dry. Admittedly I only picked this restaurant because of the cool greenhouse concept so I had no expectations. They do not take reservations, which is a bummer, but the town is cute to walk around so we didn't mind the 45 minute wait. It is busy for Sunday brunch and it can get a little loud. Overall the vibe is unique, the food is tasty, and the people are nice. I don't know if this is a regular place for me, but I will be thinking of the eggs for a while. Also, like most places in Philly they charge a credit card fee.
