I have to say right off the bat, this rating is for the customer service, as I am a new customer and haven't really had a chance to "feel out" the service. I bought a house in a rural area that has previously had valley service. Both Jennifer and Ben were exceptional in their assistance-Ben even suggested a new router for the type of things I'd be doing online. He helped me set it all up with a phone call, and was extremely patient, as I'm kind of a caveman with technology at times. I don't even care if you have cable available go with ValleyInternet. I have business account with them and the service is light years ahead of my previous account with Comcast. At first I was concerned about not having fiber to my new Napa Valley home/business as I move large data files around all day (and night) long but after talking to my IT people who stated they use a microwave connection to our servers and had no problems I went with Valley's system. I now have more than adequate speed with my microwave setup with good both down and upload speeds. Very solid with little to no variations or sags in speed. I would have to say the uptime is about 99%, probably as good if not better than cable. I have had a couple of outages related to announced upgrades/work on the system. Now I don't know if it is because I have a business account but when I call they respond, often before my own IT people do. It is amazing at how fast they can detect a problems and basically let me know if the issue is with their system or if it is on my side of the firewall. Supposedly they are upgrading there towers to even faster speeds with I believe fiber hooked to the microwave towers and some are already in place. I believe this "new" product is called FiberWave. As of now I am not on th FiberWave product so the above comments are really based on the current prevailing system. However, I am looking forward to the upgrade supposedly due within the year. If you have a business look no further and go with Valley Internet, I think you will be pleased. read more

Here's a letter I wrote to Valley after dealing with them this last week. I've had the service for close to five years and it's been fine. I cut the cord with cable and I haven't been sorry, not even once. "I am often the first to complain about shoddy service so I feel obligated to contact you regarding my recent encounters with Valley Internet. It was great. The initial call was slow to get going but it was just after the storm, but Ben at Customer Service and the two techs that came later (I'm sorry, I can't remember their names) were all professional, knowledgeable and almost oddly pleasant. We've become so accustomed to bad service that it's almost jarring when you meet truly nice people doing a good job. I know it's hard finding good help but you've done a great job and you should be proud. Thanks for making me a happy customer." read more

A little over a year ago, we made the decision to switch our Internet and phone provider to Valley Internet. As a company that's been operating for over 40 years, this was not an easy decision for us to make. After a decade with T1 lines from the phone company, 1Mbps wasn't meeting our bandwidth needs. Not to mention the cost of phone lines (especially 'long distance' calls) combined with our monthly data fee. Today, with Valley Internet, we're getting 10+ times the speed, unlimited calling, a modern VoIP phone system, 'enterprise' WiFi that covers our entire facility, and remote access to our network. The best part -- we're spending $10,000 less per year than if we'd kept our contract with the phone company. In addition to the savings, it's refreshing to work with a local company with employees from our community -- their technical support is not an overseas call center and their service guys are not low-bidder third party contractors. As a small business owner, I cannot praise Valley Internet enough. They are a truly unique operation and see the value in providing quality customer service. Even at times when we've had trouble with our service, our complaints were taken seriously and Valley Internet did not rest until finding permanent solutions. It is very disappointing to see that other customers have chosen to leave disparaging reviews on Yelp, rather than working to find solutions with Valley Internet as we have. Apparently Valley Internet only cares about its business customers, because they don't give a crap about the residential customers. The Internet has been off for more than a day now in this whole area and they don't answer calls or even call back. It's a terrible company that provides bad service for crazy prices. They actually think that 9mbps is a good speed for $99 a month!!! Plus they made us pay over $200 to set up. Like I said before the Internet is out here at the corners but they aren't anywhere to be found and they aren't answering calls. Don't think them not answering is special though. They NEVER answer calls; even during office hours. If you have problems it's always Our fault. Well guess what Valley Internet; we talk to each other here and we know you say the same crap to all of us. Our routers and computers aren't broken; YOUR 1980s EQUIPMENT IS!!! Btw who is this Kim L. This company blew me away today. We have Valley internet at our vacation lake house so when there is a service interruption, we don't know till we show up. I called valley internet on Friday night after hours and had a call back by Saturday morning at 10 am. They could not triage over the phone and there was a tech at our house within ONE hour. Our tech (his name is Lars) was awesome! In an hour he diagnosed the problem, replaced the hardware, and even improved our speed. Lars, you rock. Valley internet, you rock. We LOVE Valley Internet! Since cable is not available in our area we were fortunate to find Ofer and his very fine team many years ago when they first began providing service to Napa County. The company has blossomed and grown because of the excellent customer service and superb internet access. A few years ago we purchased a wireless music system called Sonos and found that this system upset our network and we had to refine some of the components and settings; move the modem, etc. Valley Internet responded to our questions and concerns within minutes. They sent out their amazing Brian and Lars to help with all this and, in the end, we are blazing music, streaming videos, uploading photos with no problems! for context, i live in country side of napa, absolutely no cell service and the only option to have internet was always satellite with extremely slow speeds. when we were finally ready to change that and have valley internet connect us it was nothing but a great experience, ofer and his team took amazing care of us, came out to survey our house and quickly had a solution and found a tower to connect us to. the instal was quick and painless and the techs were able to answer all the questions i had and even well before showed me exactly what router i should have to get the best experience. the speeds are triple what we had before and we are told they will only be getting faster in the future. and a huge plus is there's no contract locking you down, 10/10 recommend valley internet, especially if you're area is tricky, these guys will take care of you. read more

I have a most interesting review to post. I tried to become a customer, but due to geography & lack of direct line of sight to their antennas, I was not able to. However, all thru the application and assessment process, these guys were nothing but professional. Further, I appreciate their integrity for not just taking my money & hooking me up when they were pretty sure it would not be satisfactory. I live in an area where the only options are Fixed Point wireless internet. There are now a few companies doing business near me, but these guys offered a great combination of service, connections speeds, and rates. A bit high on the installation costs, but otherwise a very good value. Sure wish I could have made their service work for me. read more

We live in Circle Oaks Neighborhood in Napa and had problems with the WiFi reception last month. We sent an email to the customer service and they responded promptly . After a try to fix the problem through email with no success , they scheduled an on-site service . The technicians came and replaced the equipments and the antenna disc with new ones at no cost at all. We've had Valley Internet since 2014 when we bought our home 10 miles north of Napa. This is a rural area w/ poor to non existent cell coverage and very limited choices for internet. Valley Internet was already in the house so we kept it. Last month we saw the HughesNet offers based on their new satellite and their speeds/prices seemed too good to pass up. Three weeks later I was calling Valley Internet to come back. The best aspect of this story is Valley Internet's amazing customer service. I called Nicole on Fri saying I was coming back. She quickly and happily get me re-established as a customer. On Sunday, as I was re-connecting Valley Internet's hardware, I got a call from Valley Internet - Ryan noticed I was activating their hardware so he CALLED TO SEE IF I NEEDED HELP! He gave me a quick refresher (it had only been 3 weeks) on what gets plugged in where, he then ran diagnostics to make sure it was running, upgraded some firmware and that was it...on a Sunday! We were always happy w/ Valley Internet's customer service and their speeds/prices were reliable and fast enough, especially considering where we live. Sometimes you need to leave to realize how good you had it!! Knowing there is a staff of knowledgeable, cheerful and available people happy to help w/ any aspect of internet tech is a huge plus - Valley Internet is the only choice for us! read more

So much to say. I'll try to keep it short. It was such a hastle just getting these people on the phone. Two months later I get internet. Two ways to pay these people. Paper check. And a service that sucks money out of your account. It sucked money out of my account when I asked not to. Tried to shut the money sucking bill pay service off. That was harder than getting the internet turned on. Let valley internet keep the overpayment so all future paper check payments would not be processed late. When I canceled my service two months before my move date (I was paid in full), they switched off my internet that day and refused to give me a refund. If you have a choice. Whenever we have had a question or an issue regarding our service all we needed to do was to contact their customer support department. Spotty internet at Lake Beryesa. All kinds of connection issues with the internet. Purchased a cell tower and it hasn't helped at all. Buyer beware !! The customer service is good here. They are very responsive. I come from the city where internet service is super affordable and lightening fast. Being out in the valley or country side, you must pay to play, as they say. If you want super fast speeds you must pay for it. I have been on the $50 plan for three years, If you want to watch Netflix and movies you have to upgrade and pay more or be very patient. They rebooted my router and it seems better. First off, I have only had this service for one day, which has been excellent so far. However this review will cover getting to this point. I will cover reliability and continued service at later time. I worked with Jennifer to get the site survey scheduled (no charge). I was connectable and set up the installation date. Jennifer guided me through the process and patiently answered all my questions, both general and technical. She was extremely helpful and was a great point of contact. Quentin and Brian performed the install and were courteous and professional. I am very, very happy with the install job. They went through the extra effort to run the conduit under the deck and house as well as burying it in the areas close to the home. Where we live there are really very few options for internet. There is no cable or fiber optic up here. Considering that, Valley Internet does the best it can to serve us, and I appreciate that. The owner has been very conscientious and helpful and the company has been up here "tweaking" things on many occasions. So, I have to give them a break and upgrade my comments. I help a non-profit in rural Napa County with IT services. For more than a decade, this non-profit has used satellite internet connections for all Internet bandwidth. No other options were available due to its location. The site uses three satellite dishes, each with decent bandwidth, horrible one second ping times, an abysmal data Cap of 5GB per month, and a $150.00 per month bill. We got the idea of using a relay tower and emailed Valley Internet and mentioned that we had inquired before and that line of site would not work to our structures because of valley walls. We asked if it were possible to install a relay tower of some form. They replied quickly and asked for a Google Earth location pin. We installed GE and pinned the property. They found the survey data and found a hill on the property that should be able to connect to a relay they had set up a few miles away. We took pictures of said hill from that location and they said, "That's our hill!" and as long as we could see one of our buildings in the valley from up there, we should be good to go. This was not an easy install because a relay pole had to be installed on the property, power had to be run to it. Setup took a long time. We started out thinking it had to have solar to power the station, but it turned out there was power 1000 feet away. Throughout the Ticket conversations, Joe K and several other Valley Internet Employees were extremely helpful and patient while we waded through the possibilities to flesh out the details. We ran power and installed a pole our selves. Once that setup was done, the Valley Internet installers: Lars and Jaime arrived on site exactly on time and worked six hours straight to rig the pole and install another small pole on one of the property's buildings. We talked about how some buildings need a connection between them and Lars made several suggestions about how it could be done. I cannot stress how personable, helpful and patient these guys are. They really are in it for all the right reasons. By 3:00 PM we had an internet connection that gives us 14 mbit download, 2 mbit upload and 35 ms pings (through our router, 13 ms without our router). As our non-profit president said early this morning, "Its like night and day!" and "I cannot express how much better this is!" Honestly, Comcast could learn a thing or two about customer service from Valley Internet. read more

How can anyone rate the internet services of Valley Internet with fewer than five stars? I have been a customer of Valley Internet for nearly five years. When you live in the vineyards of Napa Valley, none of the big providers will seek your business: Comcast, ATT... they don't want to lay copper wire, or optical fiber, to your door as homes in the vineyards are far between. So we homeowners are left to find an internet provider using radio frequencies, which are sent from towers in the hills to our home. But not all providers in the area are equal. I learned about Valley Internet five years ago after receiving lousy service from another area provider; I switched to Valley Internet and have never looked back. The owner of Valley Internet is keen to please; his staff are well trained, detail-oriented and totally efficient. When a problem arises help is on the way without objection, delay or issue. I rate the service of Valley Internet a thorough 5/5 stars. They aren't missing a beat. Two weeks ago, I noticed my internet signal was getting weaker and weaker; Valley Internet dispatched a highly capable technician who replaced the dish and radio gear in my home, thinking the problem was technical in nature. Then, when he aligned the new dish on my roof, he discovered that a tree on a distant hill, a mile away, had grown quickly and was blocking the radio signal from the Valley Internet tower! Valley Internet had a solution for that too -- which, by the way, did not include cutting down the tree! They changed the direction of my dish to another tower and I'm streaming full force again! No charge for the swapped out equipment, no push back because nature had interfered with the signal. I recommend Valley Internet to anyone contemplating a switch to an internet provider in Napa Valley who wants reliable, dependable service at fair monthly prices. read more

Out here in the sticks in Pope Valley we can't get any broadband without Valley Internet except for those wretched satellites. Ofers's personal service, it seems, anytime of the day or night, is beyond anything that can be reasonably expected of a small company. He and his staff are unfailingly helpful. read more

Service interruptions, slow upload and download, on reliable signal, you name it. Since switching to Valley Internet over a year ago I have never had a service interruption and my download And upload speeds are twice as fast as before. I have been a customer of Valley Internet for about 3 years now. At first, their service was great, faster than the satellite ISPs that I had used before, although not nearly as good as MCHSI, but cable internet is not available where I live now. About a year ago, their service became very unreliable, as they were plagued with hardware failures, especially when the first storms of the winter season would hit us, and also due to hardware upgrades that didn't go as they had planned. If they can't be bothered to answer the phone for sales, how's the service going to be? Can I recommend Valley Internet to my boss? Not a wise career move, methinks. too bad there isn't a NO STAR option. we started off at the 54.00. plan. couldn't stream anything so we, like suckers, paid for the 99.00 plan. same sh*t different day. biggest rip off i've ever seen to tell me i have to pay more and STILL can't stream netflix. and the loss of internet is intermittent, daily. just as i am sending a document, i lose connection for 30 seconds. oh! wait... it just happened again. i just lost my internet connected to my TV, AGAIN. right during the middle of a recording. yipeeee. and then they answer our complaints by bringing up verizon, comcast, etc. SHUT UP. seriously, stop comparing other companies to your crappy service! i'm looking into satellite now or just moving. i can't run a business with this mess. and the thing is, they never gave me my own new antennae... just the same one that was here when i bought the house. lord knows how old it is. i have had NOTHING but excuses. and threats of charging me to come out. really? cos you haven't yet and it still doesn't work. oh then there was the excuse that my neighbours had bad settings that were affecting me. really? After repeatedly trying to reach their sales department with no response I have come to the conclusion that I can not trust their after sales service to be better than their pre-sales performance. I've had Valley Internet since they first offered service at Lake Berryessa, Napa, CA. I replaced my satellite internet with their very reliable land-based internet service. Valley Internet is horrifically oversubscribed. We have had their fixed wireless internet service at our home in rural Napa county for over 2 years. We are supposed to be getting a minimum of 500 kilobits per second at all times, with limited bursts of up to 3 megabits per second, but instead we experience continual dropouts where our bandwidth goes to zero and stays there for seconds or minutes at a time. My wife's brother and sister live in separate houses nearby, in our small community high in the Napa mountains, and both of them experience the same terrible service from Valley Internet. We use VOIP telephones exclusively, and over the last 2 years the quality of our VOIP phone calls has deteriorated to the point where all of us have been forced to order landline telephone service from ATT. In an effort to improve the quality of our VOIP calls, we switched from the industry-standard G711 codec, which requires 87.2 kilobits per second of bandwidth, to the lowest-quality G729 codec, which requires a mere 31.2 Kbps. Now, 31.2K is less than dialup, mind you. But it made no difference. The VOIP dropouts and 2- to 3-second latency continued unabated, because Valley Internet's erratic service cannot compete even with dialup. During our 2+ years with Valley Internet, I have repeatedly asked them to give us the minimum 500 Kbps we are supposed to be getting. They did nothing until I threatened to cancel their service, at which point they assigned a technician to work with me. The technician temporarily boosted my priority on the network, which simply means he gave me more bandwidth by reducing the bandwidth available to other subscribers on my network node. But after a month or two, the improvement disappeared and the same old dropouts and latency returned, worse than ever. Valley Internet is hopelessly oversubscribed. I am looking for an alternative. read more

I manage a business that uses Valley Internet and I am so fed up with them I'm actually writing a review (something I rarely do). For the almost year I've been here the internet has frequently gone out for hours at a time sometimes even for a whole day. This seems to happen a bunch of times in a very short period, then the internet is fine, albeit slow, for a few months, then it happens all over again. This is obviously a problem for someone who's trying to run a business. On top of that, the customer service is horrible! IF you can get in touch with a live person (you have to leave a message and hope someone calls you back) they basically brush you off with a "meh, that's why we offer only month to month service" (I was literally told this when I asked why should I pay for a services that they are not actually providing us). I have called their billing department twice and have not had my called returned. Mind you, I am being polite and professional with them on the phone. read more
