I had to order and pay for critical out-of-state labs and tests (money we don't have) to identify the root cause of my husband's illness. She dismissed my questions arrogantly, insulted my concerns when I pushed her to reconsider, and repeatedly refused the specific test that ultimately revealed the source of his condition. She also refused to provide a simple financial hardship letter required by Mayo Clinic, blocking us from seeking better care despite knowing our dire situation. Dr. Shah was fully informed of our financial crisis, our family at risk of losing our home due to my husband's sudden illness. She misdiagnosed him, under-treated him, and when she learned we were consulting legal counsel, she abruptly pulled his treatment in an apparent attempt to force him back under her care and cover her negligence. Her ego drove every decision. Her incompetence clouded every solution. Northwestern's system enabled this. The neurology department manager, Caitlyn, confirmed that patient care takes a back seat: doctors have total control ("It's their license, their say"), even without objective evidence that treatment is unnecessary. Being trapped in the Northwestern network allowed Dr. Shah's errors to persist across multiple providers. Over 8 hospital stays and 10 months, the aligned neurologists doubled down on her misdiagnosis. My husband deteriorated into catatonia, seizures, and coma. Only a targeted infusion finally woke him. If I had followed their collective advice, he would likely be dead or far more damage than he is, caused under Dr. Shah and Dr. Santwani's care. I was told that if there were no complications they would offer the things in the plan, which was delayed cord clamping, skin to skin contact for the first hour, no pitocin, support for breastfeeding. One of the nurses came in just be for delivery had clearly just had a smoke and I could smell it on her... she also had her nose out of her mask (covid). After about one minute the cord was cut, and they took my baby to do whatever it is they do, measure poke etc. the doctor yanked my umbilical cord to get my placenta out and the cord snapped. I'm not being dramatic when I say o felt that in my soul. Then from the reflection in the glass above the doctor stuck their whole arm inside me to rip out my placenta. They then ordered pitocin (sp) bc I was bleeding more that they liked!? I had no complications and none of the things I asked for were provided. I'm not a mean person and don't like writing this out but if you have any hopes of having some autonomy in giving birth I would question going to Delnor. I forgot to mention that another doctor who was about to change shifts said "we need to keep an eye on that" but didn't specify what was of concern, bc... there wasn't anything, of course your gonna keep an eye on things but you don't point that out to a woman in labor. How anxiety producing. Maybe I'm a sensitive person I just really assumed there would be some effort to provide the things I had hoped for.... For weeks leading up I would speak with the Dr and ask if what I was wanting was doable. I was reassured numerous times that every effort would be made for those (evidence based) post natal supports. It still bothers me and I don't want others to have to go through what I did. Maybe it wouldn't be a big deal if I just deferd everything to hospital protocol but seeing as I asked and was comforted towards trusting them it stings, still. My daughter is 2 1/2 now and this is just some random Tues night that I happen to be looking back and feeling helpless. Was it the worst, no. Was it kinda f-&cked up, yes. I suffered from post-partum depression for almost 2 years. I really didn't want the pitocin bc of fear of emotional reactions. I've had terrible reactions to hormones in the past. I don't doubt that the pitocin given after ripping out my placenta played a role in that darkness that followd birth: I wish there was more I could do to make people aware. I wish I had gone to CDH like many people suggested but I had recently moved to Batavia and Delnor is so close.

It is vast, encompassing everything from the emergency area to the main sections and patient rooms. The environment is impressive and spotless! Upon my admission to the room, I found it to surpass any previous hospital experience. Upon my admission to the room, it exceeded any previous hospital experience I've had. The technology here is far superior to that of other hospitals I've visited. They are so advanced compared to other hospitals I've visited. The equipment they use is far more advanced than what I've seen in other hospitals. I hope I don't get sick, but if I do, the hospital is definitely the place to go! My attending doctor, Dr. Kaiser, is truly exceptional. He listened attentively to all my concerns and made me feel comfortable during the visit. I've never felt more at ease discussing my health issues. He is one of the kindest doctors I've encountered. His communication style is very pleasant, which makes interactions with him enjoyable. He provided outstanding care throughout my entire journey, from diagnosis to recovery. Additionally, he ensured that I fully understood all my options before moving forward. His staff even followed up to check on my recovery--what amazing service!ervice! I was there late morning on a Sunday; it took about 3 hours to be seen. Once I was put in a room, thing proceeded quickly and I was very well cared for. When they diagnosed my problem, I was admitted and I swear the care was so good that I didn't mind being there at all. I will never go to another hospital unless I am travelling. In my opinion, CDH is the best, with kind and qualified doctors and nurses and the finest care around.

The people at the front desk were polite and smiled as they told us where to go to get to radiology. The check-in desk at radiology had a very attentive person who was quick to welcome us and get the paperwork going. We were seen about 5 minutes after check-in and the staff in charge of setting up the testing were courteous to my father, who is hard-of-hearing. The procedure took about 1.5 hours and I was able to stay in an adjacent waiting room with a tv, which was perfect as my 3-year-old was with me. After the procedure, the nurses took us to the exit and were very complementary to my father, who fell asleep during the testing. We ended up eating at the cafeteria downstairs and left feeling positive about the entire experience.

She was in the ER for over 24 hours before being admitted. Unfortunately for the ER staff, they were understaffed on a busy weekend. She was admitted with an unknown condition. We just knew that it seemed to be affecting her quickly. The physician staff, which are brought in from other hospitals like Edwards and Northwestern because tbey don't have their own, we all AMAZING. The nurses, CMA's, CNA's, physical therapy, speech therapy staff, even the housekeeping staff, were all incredibly caring and kind to us. My mother ended up having West Nile. She was in for 2 weeks, we almost lost her. Dr. Ines Casey was her infectious disease doctor was with us every step of the way. After she was discharged to a rehab facility she had to be readmitted again, only this time she was closer to Edwards Hospital. It was like night and day, her 2 weeks stay there was terrible. No one even wanted to understand what had happened to her or what she went through. They thought she was just some old lady with dementia, which couldn't have been further from the truth before West Nile. But we lucked out when we realized Dr. Casey was on staff at Edwards and was asked to see my mother. She then explained to doctors and staff her condition. I just wanted to thank Mercy's staff for all they did for us. My mom is now almost back to her normal self. I know Mercy use to be a non for profit and now it's owners are for profit. I know they are understaff there, they should really rethink how they treat their nurses and staff members because they are some of the greatest people we've met.

Its now very clear what their intentions and perceptions were. These people are going to kill someone, and I hope their family sues them in to bankruptcy.

My wife had a bad case of the flu and we wound up at the ER late one night. She was seen almost immediately. The staff was pleasant and attentive. They listened, which I don't always see from hospital staff. The nurses were really wonderful - available and helpful. I can't entirely say the same about the staff doctor - I didn't get his name but he was a young guy who, while I'm sure is a very good doctor, didn't have the best bedside manner. And, when I had a question for him and couldn't get him to come to the room, I walked over to the desk where he was chatting about sports with others. When I tried to interrupt, he told me to wait and he'd see me when he was available. While I understand that everyone deserves a break now and again, being available for your patients is paramount. Clearly, not working and not being able to answer a simple question because you're talking about unimportant things is not what should be expected. Outside of my complaint about the doctor, we were very happy with how they treated us and cared for my wife. Of course, we have not seen the bill yet...

I had to beg to please take out the needle still in my arm so I could at least put my coat on. Three blankets were not enough. I then realized I was in the room that the ambulance bring patients through double doors heavy with ice. Temperature about 10 degrees outside. I will NEVER, NEVER go back there again!

She had never had mental problems before, so we were not sure what to do or ask. They did a couple of tests, but no assessment of her mental state, which we came to find out they were suppose to. We came in at 7. They have a counselor there till 11pm, supposedly. They said as long as she's not a danger to herself or others, there's nothing they can do. I witnessed the the receptionist send a man to a nurse for a voucher, which the nurse said he'd find out for him. The nurse then left, came back but did not say anything to the man. The man waited until he went up himself and asked him only for the nurse to say they don't do vouchers. Back to the receptionist he went, only to have to go back to the nurse. Their basic response was, "oh just wait a little longer." Not busy at all, total time: 3 HOURS. 2nd visit: We went to BHS first. They sent us to ER. They escorted us this time. They stuck us in the dirtiest room I've ever seen. Dirt on the walls, gum package on the back of the bed. The "family waiting room" was only a little better. All but one chair looked liked they had been peed on. And it sounded like an airplane hanger. We had to explain why we were there to at least 4 separate people. It was very trying as we had never gone through this before. Not to mention the rude nurse that treated us as if we were bad guys. She did not want us around our family member and made our family member feel bad for wanting us around. It took two trips to the desk and OVER AN HOUR FOR A SMALL CUP OF WATER. When all was said and done, we ended back at BHS. We finally got that assessment and evaluation and my family member was admitted. Slightly busier than before, total time: 6 HOURS.
