Pure disappointment with this business. Customer service, friendliness, competitive pricing, communication, and overall concern aren't their strong points. With so many other places out there- Best Buy, Costco, RC Wiley, Home Depot, Lowe's - V.O. doesn't do anything special to stand out for business. I bought my first home on my own and was SO EXCITED! I decided that instead of going the Craigslist or FB marketplace route like I have done for MANY YEARS with great success, I was going to treat myself to nice appliances from an actual appliance store! But I was STILL on a budget AND I thought it would be cool to support a local business. Did some research and came up with Valley Oak The older lady that helped me was ok. Not VERY friendly but definitely cordial. I was looking at a few different refrigerators and dishwashers but she told me that I could get a deal if I bought like a bundle ...or "kitchen package" that included a refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and microwave. The deal was a good one and so I took it. Also, I bought a washing machine and dryer. When I bought these things I actually thought they were brand new. Now I realize that all of them MUST have been refurbished because they are all CRAPPY. Washing machine: the washing machine barely even wets all the clothes enough to clean them. Even when I select "deep water wash". I have to go in mid cycle and make sure everything is wet. Most times a lot of clothes are still completely dry. Also many times the cycle will complete without spinning the clothes. It's literally the worst washing machine I've ever owned. Dryer: takes FOREVER to dry clothes Refrigerator: ice dispenser stopped working within the first year Dishwasher: never fully cleaned dishes even after hand washing Oven: thermometer broke after 2years Microwave: works fine Lesson learned. read more

Just recently, our 11-year-old refrigerator was depositing a small pool of water on the floor every few days! Trent came out and identified the problem immediately. He carefully dismantled the area necessary to give him access, placing the freezer door carefully, so as not to scratch our wood floors. He explained the issue thoroughly and performed the necessary work quickly and efficiently! Before we knew it, he was cleaning up and had everything put back together! He even tightened a loose handle on the freezer--which we had not been able to accomplish! Trent was very courteous, professional and patient in explaining his work to us. Esther was our sales representative here. We were thankful that they had our item available. It would be available in 11 days. Installed by their own licensed contractor & we paid for that particular installation. At least checking in here via Yelp helped me get a 10% discount which was very useful as we had to pay extra for installation & we also purchased a five year warranty on top of all of this! We felt it was necessary after our own particular appliance broke down after eight years of usage. Go figure. Get this now as we use these appliances every day of our lives. The things we take for granted! Right? We felt it was important to support the small businesses here in Elk Grove. After all this particular company has been in business for 33 years! Desi had been with this company 20 plus years. He just arrived within the time frame scheduled for us to install our brand new microwave/oven & it only took him under 1.5 hours to install. The lady who sold us our appliances said it would take three hours so we were very appreciative it didn't take that long. It wasn't hard for my wife to figure out the panel usage bc she mainly uses both the microwave & oven for cooking. We are thrilled with our new appliances! Yay! They will meet or beat any big box store and you can't get better service anywhere else. Yesterday, my oven quit working. I called Valley Oak and Jean Hawkins, who happens to be the owner of the store, correctly identified the problem without even looking at my oven! I needed a new element which they did not have in stock but it was picked up this morning and Brandon installed it within 15 minutes! Recently I hired this company to resolve an issue with my refrigerator temperature not going below 54 degrees. Technician identified a few problems but stated they could not get the parts, therefore, they could not fix it. Customer told technician that there were several appliance parts stores in the area as wells Amazon.com that probably had the parts. Technician did not attempt to get the parts from sources cited and only wanted to get the $154 service charge from the customer. Also, tech stated that even if they had the parts that they would have to charge an extra $300 to install parts. Customer was able to find and order the parts on Amazon.com in less than 5 minutes. Additionally, customer was able to look online and employ a temp solution that will work until the parts are received. Rotten service from this company. I would never use this company. read more

Scheduled a repair and was given a window of 9 to 1. At 2 o'clock the useless person answering the phone said he was at another site and would be with me in an hour. No call, no repairman. I called again, and was told he was just finishing up and would be with me in15 minutes. Again no technician or call. I called back and cancelled after waiting the original timeframe plus 2 hours. And this business couldn't care less. I've purchased items from them before but will never again. I did hear this business has really gone downhill and I am in total agreement. A prior review called this business a POS. Couldn't agree more. Customer service is terrible and the person answering the phone couldn't be more unhelpful. I wanted to support local businesses. Because of a warranted repair on our Sub Zero 650, we called Sub Zero Wolf HQ for a repair referral. They offered Valley Oak Appliance. When I called Valley Oak, they were preparing to schedule the service call until I explained that Sub Zero, through a Special Authorization, was going to share the cost. Paula, apparently the Office Manager, immediately terminated the scheduling. My assumption is that Valley Oak did not want Sub Zero to become aware of their pricing policies. It was this issue, and this issue alone, that prompted Paula to REFUSE TO PROVIDE AUTHORIZED SERVICES for Sub Zero repairs. If it looks like a scam, walks like a scam, and sounds like a scam, maybe it is a scam. Luckily we found other authorized Sub Zero repair companies that provided QUALITY APPLIANCE Repairs. My dryer stopped turning last week & the folks at Valley Oak were really wonderful especially the repair guy Brandon. I had randomly checked the dryer a few times throughout the week before I made the appointment and it still wouldn't turn. Brandon walked in, powered it up and *poof* it started turning. I'm not saying he has magical powers, but he replaced the gizmos that hold the door shut because they were a little wobbly & his boss let him charge me a lower fee. I had a simple debris blockage of a drain that was causing the door to leak. The technician spent an hour with the door off and came up with a feeble excuse that dishes were blocking a sensor and causing a leak and showed me were a foam barrier was wet at the bottom of the inside of the door. I pointed out that the rest of the foam was dry so it could not have been the cause. He shrugged and called his supervisor who must have suggested checking the blocked drain. The worst customer service from Tim the manager ever! I have been dealing with no communication after ordering a new hood fan for 2 months. When I finally got ahold of Tim to have it installed he rescheduled install date 2 times. When the service techs did show up they stated Tim ordered the incorrect hood fan! Then he schedules me a 3rd time for install through email as he doesn't want to call me and no one shows up. I called the office and of course the receptionist said he will call me back. No response from him that day. I then send an email telling him of the awful customer service and the 3 times I had to alter my schedule for the install dates as well as him not responding and that I want my money back this is unacceptable as it is clear he can't handle his job. The person scheduling was told it was heavy and they would need to send two technicians or a lift. I'm sorry to say that Valley Oak Appliance has gone downhill in the past five years. I'm not sure if it's Covid or what, but their customer service and their repair availability has gone way down. When you call the office on the phone, or take the time to drop in, it seems like nobody knows what's going on in there. They are constantly changing their point-of-sale systems, and, when you buy something instead of just scanning it, they start ticky-tacky typing at the keyboard for like 10 minutes. If somebody in office management there, reads this review please please please fix your business model. I love going to the local guy and that's what Valley Oak has always been. A few months later, I bought a stove from big box store that included free installation... the doofus they sent was either lazy and lying, or truly an imbecile . The folks at Valley Oak have always been super helpful and their advice is greatly appreciated. Our dryer failed and I did a little bit of troubleshooting with the voltmeter. I narrowed the issue down to one of two parts, removed them and took them down to the store and Tim helped me confirm the issue. He had the new heating element right on the shelf and gave me a couple of tips to 100% confirm the dryer would be fixed when I buttoned it up. I got home, installed the new part and 20 minutes later, was drying clothes again. I know they don't make their living off selling parts but it's sure nice to be able to pick up an item from them same day, get advice and fix the device quickly. I tried dealing with the big box store but their lack of ability to complete simple tasks like scheduling, ordering, communicating, being professional prevented me from dealing with them. Valley Oak at HOME APPLIANCE CENTER exceeded all of my expectations and professionalism and communication.
