Our daughter Merissa has been attending Valley Oak Montessori for the past 2.5 months, and it has been a truly wonderful journey. The school has provided her with a nurturing, safe, and inspiring environment where she has grown into a confident little girl. We deeply appreciate Ms. Varsha and Ms. Vinita for their exceptional leadership and constant support. The teachers -- Ms. Anjana, Ms. Sandhya, Ms. Guiselle, Ms. April, and Ms. Mandeep -- are all incredibly caring, patient, and dedicated. They know each child personally and bring out the best in them every day through the true Montessori spirit of learning and discovery. The communication with parents is always open, transparent and thoughtful, and the classrooms are beautifully organized with engaging, hands-on materials that foster curiosity and self-confidence. We are so grateful to be part of the Valley Oak Montessori community and highly recommend it to any family seeking a warm and high-quality Montessori education.

Our 2nd yr and I continue to be impressed with their business model.,Many other schools are quick to take parents money for their new equipments and facility but dont care to invest in running programs. The best school districts that offer similar programs are in Santa Clara, Fremont, and Palo alto. So im so grateful Valley Oak is the only school in San Jose area that cares enough to have the best programs for the kids. Thanks so much for all you do, Valley Oak.Im super excited for my son as this is his 2nd summer with the school. The director is very organized and informative. Through the app, you will understand what the kids are working on each week as she will send them out to inform the parents too. From tracing numbers, words, shapes, working on fine motor skills, to learning how to count, to phonics, different animals and sounds, objects, nature, painting, summer programs : water park, magic show, birds show, petting zoo, you name it! This school has them all! The kids are allowed to explore their curiosity and creativity. But what is truly best about this school that no other schools around offer the programs Varsha (the director) brings in. The only other Montesorri and preschools that have these programs are in Palo Alto, Santa Clara and Fremont (which are known to have best school due to their programs). For instance, soccer, magic shows, puppet shows, ocean life (water park set up), zoology (petting zoo), NASA outerspace, dinosaur world, ornithology real birds exploration, and weekly real coaching for soccer! I asked all around and none of the Montesorri and Preschools in San Jose offer this but Varsha brought them in bc of her experience and accumulated many vendor contacts throughout the years, and she knows how to run a great school with spectacular programs. I have a large community of playdate friends and sad to say the schools around are so easily to take your money and sell you on a nice new facility, nice toys and big names, but dont invest too much into running programs like schools in Palo Alto, Fremont, and Santa Clara. As a mom, it makes me happy to see my son genuinely cared for by this community and is given opportunities to reach and meet his greatest potential (:

Extracurricular: children learning chess pieces and how to play

2025 Long Update Review: Rating 11/10 Stars My son is now 4 and is currently in the Oak class (preschool room). All I can say is WOW, so much has happened in a year since my last review in '23/24. The teachers and staff here continue to help my kid thrive so much at such a young age. I'm really impressed by the super advanced curriculum that they're offering and my son has learned a lot: - Science/Tech: nomenclatures and botany, body parts of animals/plants, etc - Geography/Culture: it's really cool that they've learned about many different countries (i.e. Vietnam, China, Philippines, India, and more) - Reading/Writing: They teach the children how to read/write their names, multiple words. Show and tell weekly to help them do public speaking with the letter of the week. My son's vocabulary has exploded and is confident in speaking long sentences and can read short books at home - Math: He knows all his numbers up to 100 (including writing), can do addition/subtraction. They even teach the "quadrilateral prism"/geometry, decimals/fractions concepts - Practical Life: I absolutely appreciate them teaching the "soft skills" (I.e. dishwashing, courtesy) - Circle time: He memorized all 7 continents, 9 planets, 7 days of the week/12 months of the year, 4 seasons/weather. The teachers have the children sing songs that help them remember all of these, and lyrics of nurseries too. - Extracurricular Activities: Legos class and Chess class. Can't believe he started chess learning at 3, and us as parents don't even know how to play this sophisticated game!? Last year summer's program was REALLY FANTASTIC. They keep the kids busy with water activities, magic show, parrot show, puppet show, etc and so much more. I am looking forward to this upcoming summer program as they have new things coming up. This school constantly has educational guests (dentists teaching dental hygiene, musicians playing instruments, Japanese geishas sharing tea ceremonies). Okay, like, this list goes on & on. It's really awesome that the staff truly embraces diversity and all cultures. My favorite part about this daycare/preschool is that they send me photos/videos throughout the day to update me on how my kid is doing. This comforts us knowing that the staff are trustworthy & taking very well care of the children while we are busy at work. My only complaint (more like high compliment) is that I wish they would open up another location closer to my house. My husband and I commute 30-45 mins all the way from Morgan Hill (we just moved from SJ originally) to this school because it's WORTH it and high quality compared to any other day care I've seen in the south Bay Area. We hope and plan to keep our son here until he starts Kindergarten next year. We love the community and the staff/teachers here are absolutely wonderful!!! They truly love and care for your child and listen very well to parents if you have questions or need anything from them. Thank you Ms Varsha, Ms Vinita, Ms Sanchayita, Ms Praveena, Ms Aditi, Ms Urvi, and all his previous teachers as well Ms Bhavana, Ms Kavita, Ms Sasmita, Ms Sharon, and all the other Valley Oak Montessori teachers are great!!!

We looked at many preschools, but none of them felt quite right until we toured SJMS. The staff is extremely conscientious, engaged, and dedicated to the children. SJMS is a true Montessori school, taking the time to not only practice the Montessori method but also to educate parents about the method. The school is small, just two classrooms with two dedicated teachers in each classroom, so the student-teacher ratio is quite good. Each of my girls thrived in their own way. The teachers took the time to understand their unique personalities and learning styles, creating a space where they felt both supported and challenged. Ms. Nisha was fortunately there for the full preschool term of both of my daughters, and I couldn't be happier about it. I fully trust her, and I know that both of my children learned so much thanks to her and the preschool director, Ms. Betty. One of the most valuable things Montessori Way taught my children is the ability to focus on a task. I saw this firsthand when my first daughter started kindergarten during COVID, with school fully online. While many children struggled to concentrate, she was able to stay engaged and work independently--and I truly credit that to her time at Montessori Way. I have no doubt that my second daughter will transition just as smoothly and thrive when she starts kindergarten in fall 2025.

He started at 21 months old and recently transitioned to the Thomas Road location as he turns 3. Incredible Teachers: Ms. Katie, Ms. Cho, Ms. Choi, Ms. Lim, Ms. Tessa, and Ms. Allison create a remarkably safe and nurturing environment. Ms. Katie brings decades of Montessori experience to the structured setup. Ms. Cho warmly welcomes the kids every morning, and Ms. Katie personally sees them off on most evenings with individual feedback for the parents. Great Communication: They use a fantastic mobile app for easy check-ins, payments, and school updates. Best of all, they sent pictures and videos of our toddler throughout the day getting those updates at work and seeing him grow was such a dopamine hit! Life Skills & Activities: They actively help with potty training, self-feeding, and learning to put on shoes etc. They also host great activities like yoga, pumpkin patch outings, summer camps, teachers appreciation day and Mother's Day celebrations. Structured day: Ms Katie has created a toddler curriculum, they have designated nap-time, play time and a lot of Montessori toys to keep the children engaged. Food & Care: They provide food but allow home-packed lunches. Our toddler was a fussy eater, and Ms. Cho was incredibly helpful in working with him on this. We couldn't be happier with our decision. CWBM has been like a second home for my children. Just a few of the many things I love about the school: 1) The school itself is a true Montessori school. CWBM is observed by an Association Montessori International (AMI) representative yearly and continues to be recognized as a member of the Association Montessori International. 2) The school itself is so clean and bright inside. This was one of the main reasons I chose CWBM for my children. The children are also taught to help keep the school tidy and neat. 3) The teachers are loving and attentive. On the weekends when he is not in school, my son has often called out his teachers' names while trying to call out to me (his mother). This is just a small indicator of how fond my son was of his teachers. 4) My children were happy in school while learning math, how to read, participating in singing, soccer, dancing, class. 5) Chinese culture and language was introduced during school, which I appreciated, especially living in this global society. 6) I think what I really appreciated most recently with covid, is the precautions that are taken to keep the children and teachers safe. From the very beginning of the pandemic, I felt safe sending my kids to school here and I was on the paranoid side (my kids were one of the first to comfortably wear masks during the pandemic). My children and I will always think of our time at CWBM fondly and continue to recommend this preschool to others. Thank you CWBM!

The teachers are genuinely attentive and proactive. When our child had a minor incident at school, staff followed up promptly and worked with us on a plan going forward. When she first started, she only spoke Chinese, and the teachers took the initiative to learn some simple Chinese words to communicate with her and help her settle in -- that kind of thoughtfulness really touched us. Lucy has also been wonderful about celebrating small milestones -- potty training progress, new words, little achievements -- and letting us know right away, always with such patience and care. A special thank you to Catalina, who is our daughter's favorite teacher. You can feel her genuine love for the children every single day. Catalina even gifted us a children's book she wrote herself, "As a Little Child: Come Into the Agape Boat" -- such a thoughtful surprise that showed us she's not only a child development expert with over 20 years of experience, but also a heartfelt storyteller. That gesture really reflects how much she cares about the kids. The curriculum keeps things engaging with themed weeks (dinosaur week, science week, water day) and special family events like Donuts with Dad and the Mother's Day brunch. Safety is clearly a priority too -- fire drills are handled properly and any building/facility issues (like internet outages) are communicated to parents immediately. Overall, it really feels like the teachers and staff care about each child individually. A heartfelt thank you to Catalina and Lucy for all they do.
