Get a lop here! While I lived in West Virginia for pharmacy…read moreschool I bought two bunnies at this place. They had the absolute best temperaments in comparison to all of my other past pet store rabbits from other places. Healthy and delightfully easy to handle. And they have more expensive breeds for cheap. My chinchilla-coated almost show quality Holland Lop came from here and my broken-white American Fuzzy Lop too. She's not from "good stock" like my Holland but is super friendly and laid back. Also the staff are helpful and pleasant. Advice to the store managers: if you use a different bedding besides pine or just put a layer of yesterday's news (cat litter) in your cages, they will need cleaned much less often and not leave waste stuck to the bottom of your furry friends.

Supplement to My Previous Review: Retail Retaliation & Ethical Concerns…read moreI am writing this follow-up to inform the community of recent developments following my previous honest review of Inland Reef. Today, management officially denied me service and banned me from purchasing from their pet store as a direct result of the good-faith complaints and reviews I shared online. While I fully understand and accept that a private business has the legal right to refuse service, the timing and motivation behind this decision speak volumes. Rather than taking constructive criticism to improve their operations, management chose retaliation--silencing a customer for simply telling the truth about their corrupt business practices and the unethical treatment of their animals. The Reality of Their Products and Livestock As many reptile owners know, finding reliable, high-quality live snake feeders can be difficult, and this store was the only local option I knew of (though I have thankfully since rectified this problem and found alternatives). My criticisms were never malicious; they were born out of genuine concern and lived experience: Livestock Mortality: The majority of the animals I have purchased from this establishment in the past unfortunately passed away, with diseases verified after the fact. Poor Plant Quality: Every single aquatic plant I ever purchased from them died in the exact same manner, showcasing a systemic lack of proper care and maintenance. Profits Over Ethics: It is painfully obvious that this store prioritizes profit margins over the ethical treatment of living creatures and treating their fellow humans with basic dignity. A Biblical Perspective on Unjust Gain For a business that operates on deception and mistreats the creation under its care, Scripture offers a stern reminder about the consequences of corrupt practices and placing wealth over righteousness. Proverbs 11:1 "The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him." Inland Reef operates on "dishonest scales"--taking hard-earned money from customers while knowingly providing sick animals and subpar goods. Furthermore, the Bible speaks directly to the responsibility humans have to care for animals, a duty this store continuously fails to meet: Proverbs 12:10 "The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel." By neglecting the health of their reptiles and livestock for the sake of the bottom line, and by lashing out at those who expose these atrocities, the management mirrors the sins of greed and pride. Wealth gained through exploitation and the suffering of innocent animals will never yield a true blessing. A Warning to the Public To my fellow pet owners, hobbyists, and community members: Please exercise extreme caution if you must shop here. If Inland Reef is your only option for specific supplies or feeders, protect yourself. Inspect everything thoroughly, be aware of the high risk of disease, and know that if you speak up about a negative experience, management is more likely to ban you than to fix the problem. Support ethical breeders and businesses who respect both their animals and their patrons whenever possible.

Not wanting her to go hungry the rest of the day, I looked up to see if anything was open so I could try to get her something else. I was understanding that places were closed for the holiday so I knew it would be a long shot! Google said they were open to 7 and I even went direct to their website and made sure I was looking at the correct location's hours. Everything said open until 7. I drove 20 minutes there for the doors to be locked and no one in sight. There wasn't even signage on the store indicating a closure for Easter or modified store hours for Easter. I double checked Google and their own website and the store hours on the door and all stated open. I even sat in the car and called the store and nothing on the prerecorded messaging stated modified hours for the holidays and no one picked up no matter which extension I connected myself to. I went in Tuesday and when I asked about it the employee at checkout was just like "well we were the only ones open in the entire plaza." I told him they were not open when I was there, around 5:45pm, despite everything indicating they were. He said they closed early. It's one of my biggest pet peeves when a company can't communicate their hours effectively. I wouldn't have driven all that way and wasted my time on my day off if it was communicated. I don't even care that they closed early or wouldn't haven't cared if they were closed the whole day. The communication was just crappy. Additionally, there's no place to communicate with this company. No survey option on the receipt. No contact us section on the website unless it's about an order tracking or order pick up. Why do I need to go through Yelp to provide feedback?

Little Victories is an impressive, moving operation. While it's doubtful that many Yelpers will…read morefind this rescue central or easily reachable, a journey down the back roads of Ona and Barboursville will be well worth the trip - if you're an animal lover. With literally hundreds of dogs and cats, Little Victories is one of the most amazing, hectic, and sometimes overwhelming nonprofit rescues I've seen. Their mission is clear, their animals loving, and their volunteers impressively devoted. As with any rescue, I would recommend doing thorough background checks on the history of any animal you adopt. While these workers and volunteers are compassionate, they don't always have up-to-date information on their animals (you'll need to contact someone in charge or a local veterinarian to confirm details). The only reason I stress this point is because even the best of animals have certain temperaments and needs - usually based on their history - and thus, it is always wise to have the most information when adopting. If you just want to get involved on the volunteer side of things, Little Victories is a wonderful haven for these animals, all of whom seem to understand their situation and the hope the place provides them. They are fed well, walked frequently, and socialized as best as possible given the strange limitations of using a converted home as a shelter. A visit to the so-called "Cathouse" is a must: to see a whole, one-story bungalow overrun with cats is not a sight easily forgotten.
