I had quality classes and great professors. I learned so much about the field I work in now. The university has so many amenities. Nap pods, computer lab access, gym access, library access, and so much more. There was also a lot of opportunities to get involved with organizations, clubs, etc. being involved enhanced my undergraduate experience. Parking was terrible and passes were pricey.

This review is about CSUN's Summer Movie Nights events throughout the summer. Our daughter let us…read moreknow about them, and invited us to join her and our granddaughter. They don't go every Thursday evening; just depends what's showing and what else everyone has going on. We checked it out and saw "Inside Out 2" with them several weeks ago. That led to us learning where to park, what to bring, and where to find the lawn in front of the library building where the movies are screened. It's a great family event. Several food trucks come for the event. (I'm told the prices are high!) You can bring your own food. The price of admission is just right - free! If you can luck out to find street parking, that's free, too. The walk is long, though. We park in Lot 33, which is closer to the lawn area than street parking. Four hours in the lot is about $8, which isn't too bad. The parking app / kiosk is painful, though. I especially struggled with it last night. The WiFi inside the parking structure is almost non-existent, so using the texting feature can be challenging. Last night it was "Toy Story 4". The graphics and sound volume were much better than for Inside Out. However, about half way through the movie something happened to the video playback and only audio kept playing. The organizers' spot isn't easily identifiable, so it took a few minutes before the situation got fixed. Then one of the side lawns had the sprinklers start to go off before the film was finished, so everyone over there was scrambling to pick up their stuff and get out of the way of the sudden showers. Someone came on the intercom at the end of the movie and thanked everyone for coming and apologized for those two little glitches. The organizers create a nice event feeling for the participants. Overall, it was still a pleasant evening spent with the younger generations.

Came here with my young daughter to see a CSUN men's basketball game. It's a smaller arena but…read moreideal to see the action. The sight lines are great and crowd is friendly. Amazing to be that close to the action in a D1 game. They have concessions but didn't get to try those. They have sponsored contests between time outs and periods so keep you entertained. General admission is on one side and cheaper. A lot families and people of all ages. Reserved seating on the other side is more sedated. This is real college basketball with even Vegas lines. My wife is a CSUN grad and I grew up nearby so go Matadors. Can't wait to return!

The people here are the real deal, good people…read more My son is a ballet dancer. We lived in Simi Valley for many years and my son danced with a studio that was a competition studio. They have all genres of dance, but it always felt they prioritized the competition dance team, which isn't our thing. As a result, when we moved to the San Fernando Valley, we decided to stick with a more traditional Ballet school academy environment. No competition team type places. We ended up in downtown LA. But during covid, we really had some challenges and my son wasn't able to get back in a studio for many many months. I found California Dance Academy on social media and saw that they were doing Nutcracker outside. I emailed them and ask if my son could take class with them for a while until our school opens again. They were dancing outside and following all covid precautions until case numbers came down and county restrictions allowed indoor classes again. They followed everything to a T and kept dancers safe. No cases were spread within the studio. Everyone we met here was fantastic. No drama. And truly solid classical ballet instruction. I'd have previously written this place off because we were looking to get away from competition environment, but California Dance Academy treats both classical ballet and competition as equally valuable. They develop strong dancers and train kids up in the area the kid wants to go. Their focus is art and solid instruction. My son's school downtown reopened and he was genuinely sad to leave California Dance Academy. But I have to write this review and just say that whether it is classic ballet or more commercial style dance you are looking for, this is a great school with great people. They are helpful, transparent, kind, and honest people.

Our teacher, Becky, is awesome and is the main reason why my daughter has studied at CDA for more…read morethan a year. My daughter dances for fitness and as a hobby but this studio trains serious dancers, little ones who come for their first dance class, and everything in between. The studio has ample parking. The program is now under Campbellsville University and offers the Phillips Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. Many of the professors are Phillips alumn and have a long standing relationship with the school. Everything about my experience was exceptional. I enrolled in Fall 2023 and graduated in May 2025 and have no complaints at all! I would do it all over again if I could. If you're looking for an MFT degree, please reconsider this school. It's one of the only ones with an on-site counseling center where you receive real life observation of therapy and start earning your own clinical hours in the second term!

We actually had a gift card and had some issues trying to redeem it on the kiosk and there was no one in site to help. Popcorn was great, soda machine was OK, not the best diet coke I've ever had. It's one of those multi-soda machines so there are tons of drinks to choose from. Theater was clean, picture and sound were great. Bathrooms were clean too. Tons of parking! Overall had a good experience but not getting to talk to a human when purchasing tickets definitely took away from the movie experience. It's been a while since I've been to the theaters, so this might be standard practice now. I just think they might still need a staff member up front to help people with the kiosk.

Life got in the way a couple of times during this portion of the class and I was able to talk to Mika and figure out a plan so that I wouldn't have to miss class. I also loved listening to her real life stories of working in nursing. The course I took was 5 weeks, 8 hours a day. The first two weeks were online. There is a lot of reading, a lot of quizzes, and several tests, but you get the hang of it quickly. The second week was practical where you learned the skills. I got pretty frustrated when I didn't get the skill right the first time, but the fact is that there are a lot of steps to the skills and these are brand new things that I'm learning. It all falls into place when you go into the clinical. You get to apply what you learned in class and in your practical learning. I especially loved my clinical rotations at the hospital. It gave me such a bigger perspective on the healthcare industry and patient care. I learned so much and discovered that I really liked working in ER. I look forward to applying everything I learned in my future career.

That kind of flexibility and care meant so much, especially since our gathering was a memorial for a dear friend -- the last thing we needed was added stress, and they made sure we didn't have any. Issa and Vanna were wonderful -- patient, warm, and so easy to work with for our group. Everyone's paintings turned out beautifully, and it truly made for a meaningful, memorable night as we celebrated a life so dear to us. However, we felt uncomfortable when a strange man came to the window to peer inside. Instead of talking through the closed door, Isa opened it to speak to him, and he made a creepy comment ("I'm no Picasso, I just like to watch pretty women"). Opening the door in that situation felt unsafe for our group. The biggest issue was the complete lack of communication about the studio's broken air conditioning. It was ridiculously hot inside, and had they called or emailed beforehand to let us know, we would have gladly rescheduled. One member of our party suffers from heat-induced seizures, and she ended up struggling through the heat before we were forced to pack up and leave early for her safety. To make matters worse, two hours into the session, Isa casually mentioned that management had offered free bottled water due to the heat--a gesture that should have been provided immediately, not hours later. When we reached out to management, the owner was completely unsympathetic to the situation. They initially offered us a single free drink or a partial discount on a future session. After multiple emails from our party explaining how severe the heat issue was for one of the girls due to heat related seizures, the owner's blunt response was: "I understand your concerns. I am sorry the air conditioning was out, and we absolutely should have contacted you beforehand. I will refund the birthday girls seat and no more." Admitting they failed to notify us beforehand while offering the absolute bare minimum resolution shows zero regard for customer safety or satisfaction. This was actually my second frustrating experience at this studio. Previously, I won $150 in gift cards at a silent auction for an animal rescue, only to find out I couldn't combine them when booking for a group of five. The restriction wasn't stated anywhere on the cards, and management's stance was just "that's how it is," forcing me to lose money and pay out of pocket. Between the lack of transparency, safety concerns, and an owner who genuinely does not care about customer well-being, I cannot recommend this place.

So I made it a point to visit to hopefully secure a spot for the birthday party. I was advised to visit after 8pm as someone to help would likely be there at that time. In addition I was told to try calling the number I had already tried connecting with. My issue isn't so much not being able to host an event here as much as it's the lack of communication. I waited a few days as I usually like to give the benefit of the doubt...which then lead me to lose potential other locations for the event. Just not great business.

The day of the party was absolutely perfect my family and I were allowed to go in 30 minutes prior to the party to set up. Once our guest arrived everything was done and ready to have a great game of basketball. Most importantly my son had an amazing time and his friends enjoyed their time at his party. Please give this small little place a chance as they are working out the kinks!
