That kind of flexibility and care meant so much, especially since our gathering was a memorial for a dear friend -- the last thing we needed was added stress, and they made sure we didn't have any. Issa and Vanna were wonderful -- patient, warm, and so easy to work with for our group. Everyone's paintings turned out beautifully, and it truly made for a meaningful, memorable night as we celebrated a life so dear to us. I am extremely disappointed with my experience here and will not be returning. The instructor, Isa, was good at leading the class overall. However, we felt uncomfortable when a strange man came to the window to peer inside. Instead of talking through the closed door, Isa opened it to speak to him, and he made a creepy comment ("I'm no Picasso, I just like to watch pretty women"). Opening the door in that situation felt unsafe for our group. The biggest issue was the complete lack of communication about the studio's broken air conditioning. It was ridiculously hot inside, and had they called or emailed beforehand to let us know, we would have gladly rescheduled. One member of our party suffers from heat-induced seizures, and she ended up struggling through the heat before we were forced to pack up and leave early for her safety. To make matters worse, two hours into the session, Isa casually mentioned that management had offered free bottled water due to the heat--a gesture that should have been provided immediately, not hours later. When we reached out to management, the owner was completely unsympathetic to the situation. They initially offered us a single free drink or a partial discount on a future session. After multiple emails from our party explaining how severe the heat issue was for one of the girls due to heat related seizures, the owner's blunt response was: "I understand your concerns. I am sorry the air conditioning was out, and we absolutely should have contacted you beforehand. I will refund the birthday girls seat and no more." Admitting they failed to notify us beforehand while offering the absolute bare minimum resolution shows zero regard for customer safety or satisfaction. This was actually my second frustrating experience at this studio. Previously, I won $150 in gift cards at a silent auction for an animal rescue, only to find out I couldn't combine them when booking for a group of five. The restriction wasn't stated anywhere on the cards, and management's stance was just "that's how it is," forcing me to lose money and pay out of pocket. Between the lack of transparency, safety concerns, and an owner who genuinely does not care about customer well-being, I cannot recommend this place. read more

I booked this "Northern Lights" paint night as a gift for a friend, and we both had a blast! Ellie, the resident artist of the evening, was personable and a great teacher. It was an intimate evening as there were only two other people booked, so it was like a private painting lesson. Our canvasses were set up with paint brushes and paint set out for us prior to arrival. They offer beer, wine, canned cocktails, water and soda, and don't allow outside beverages. There was only wine by the bottle so we ended up splitting a bottle with the other two attendees. I've attended a few other paint nights elsewhere in the past, and this night lived up to my expectations. I would definitely revisit Painting with a Twist in Chatsworth! read more

I attended a 2-hour event at Painting with a Twist in Chatsworth on 8/23, and unfortunately the experience -- and the response afterward -- has made sure I will never return. The air conditioning was not working during our event, and the heat inside was absolutely miserable. What makes this even more upsetting is that I have now received a response directly from the owner acknowledging that they "absolutely should have contacted [us] beforehand." That is exactly the problem. Had I been told BEFORE arriving that the air conditioning was out, I could have made an informed decision about whether it was safe or appropriate for me to attend. Instead, we weren't given that choice. I spent two hours in an extremely uncomfortable environment, and the stress and heat left me feeling physically awful afterward and into the following day. My best friend complained. My cousin Rachel -- the actual birthday girl -- complained. I complained. After all of that, the owner's response to me was: "I am sorry the air conditioning was out, and we absolutely should have contacted you beforehand. I will refund Rachel's seat and no more." I appreciate that Rachel is receiving her refund, because that was the very least I felt should be done. But the words "and no more" were unnecessarily dismissive considering the circumstances. This wasn't about trying to get something for free. It was about how the situation was handled. If you know your air conditioning isn't working, especially during the summer, tell your customers before they arrive. Give them the opportunity to decide whether they still want to attend. The instructor herself was great, and my complaint isn't about her. It's about the way the situation was handled by management before the event and afterward. Had so much fun at last night's Painting with a Twist. The class is in a spacious room that has a little bar area at one side, and a stage at the front for the instructor to teach us. At the bar there is options to buy nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages. We opted to get the Cherry Blossom Pinot bottle to share for our table, and I must say it was a very delightful wine that tasted perfect and light to sip on while we painted. Our painting was a lion, and I must say until almost half way through I just didn't think my painting of a lion was going to look like a lion, but we trusted the process and we followed instructions which were very easy to follow step by step, and in the end we all had lions! It's so funny that despite that we all follow the same instructions, our lions all were different sizes and looks haha! Our Instructor Ellie was so upbeat and friendly and helpful! My favorite part of the night was when we had started painting in the neon yellow color, when suddenly Ellie turned off the lights! Our paintings were glowing!!!!! Such a fun surprise the whole room did a collective "Oh my gosh!" at the same time LOL. This was definitely a fun experience that I would love to attend again! Painting with a Twist was non-stop fun and sips! Had a very happy Sunday Funday with my friend Dan for his super star-struck spectacular 60th birthday with appearances by our artist duo team Lissa and Sarahie... not to mention cameos by Brad Pitt and Michael Jackson... (see pics). I'd been to Painting with a Twist once before mostly for future inquiry and curiosity... I mean being creative and partaking in sips are two of my favorite things. We had a private room/session in back with a party of 11ish. We got to hang out and mingle before hand.. arriving early is suggested and recommended (up to 30 minutes before) so things can run smoothly as you will take breaks a few times over the course of painting your masterpiece. Bring treats to share if you'd like (Ralph's and Dollar Tree in the same lot next door). You can refreshments and partake in wine (whites, reds, chilled or room temp), beer (craft, domestic and imported), seltzers, and/or water. The selection is impressive for all offerings - Freakshow wines originally by Michael David Winery are the best and they have a couple including their Cabernet and Petite Sirah. The Cab went over well with a few on the wine guys in our group, others enjoyed a nice frosty beer. When the party settled in to paint it was Sunday Funday ease with Lissa providing perfect instructions as we painted a Wizard of OZ inspired painting. The yellow brick road and Emerald City were pretty fun to add details too as well as the grassy fields, flowers, mountains and sky. We had a pallet of colors on paper plates, a signature Painting with a Twist water cup (dip those brushes to the bottom of the cup for max rinsing), easels, canvas, two paint brushes, disposable plastic aprons and our open imagination. Sarahie super assisted and made sure everyone including Lissa had everything they needed. Paint refills will be needed. It was a three hour session (including those long beats to stretch and take a beat) that really flies by. Brad Pitt (or rather cut out B.P.) pretty much hung back as a spectator... And Michael Jackson(-Polek) sat across from me with great attention to detail. Hair dryers are available and plugged in for quick drying throughout those breaks and really work wonders. You'll have time to add personalized touches to your paintings as well. Two gender neutral restrooms for all and any to use. Easy parking in a shared lot with Anytime Fitness, restaurants and lots of other businesses. Very close to Chatsworth Station (for Metro G Orange Line, Metrolink and lots of services across the street). Q Tip: Outside snacks/food are welcome but no need to BYOB as they have plenty and it's also not allowed. For outside eats their policy is open, just make sure to bring your own napkins, plates and/or cutlery if needed. They suggest peanut free for non-private events as their public events sometimes include kids with allergies. They have weekly events where you can reserve a seat as well as request the canvas size of your choice - check out what's open on their website as well as other locations including Santa Clarita, Lakewood and Camarillo just in SoCal - more in other states (quite a few in Florida, Michigan and New York) and a few more sprinkled in other parts in California. My fiance and I had a great date night here with our instructor Staci! Even though we weren't the greatest painters, Staci was really kind and reassured us that we don't have to be perfect. We also made candles about 15 min before our appointment time and it was super easy! We loved picking out the scents and labeling it. We also loved the snacks and alcohol here. So much fun painting with the girls the other night! The instructor and the lady assisting were so nice and helpful. The paint shop is small but fits small or big parties perfectly - great way to celebrate a bday! I booked a private party here from my boyfriend's birthday and the experience from start to finish was smooth and easy. We had such a good time at our first visit a few months ago that when we decided to do this for his birthday this was the first place I looked. Our artist Ellie and Mary were FANTASTIC. They were so kind, super professional, and fun. They sang songs with us, played games with us, and replaced my michelada when I inevitably put my paint brush in it. We had a group of 13, so we had our own private room that we could decorate and bring food - I brought cupcakes. We had to purchase drinks there which was fine with us. I was covering drinks for the party and Mary consistently checked in with me to make sure that I was ok with where the tab was before she opened any new bottles - Queen. Attended a painting class here. It started of well but when we were more then half way done with picture the artist realized that this was supposed to be a black light painting. She had us sloppily cover over the whole painting with the black light paint then rushed us through even though it was her mistake. Everyone's picture came up messed up. We even left our pictures at the studio. We didn't want to take them home. It sucks that we wasted money on this experience. We took our time working on the original painting which was coming together very nicely to have to sloppily cover up and rush through due to the instructors mistake. read more
